You'll be able to play Fortnite, but is it worth the requirements a kernel level anticheat needs?https://onlineservices.epicgames.com/news/introducing-easy-anti-cheat-linux-v2https://store.epicgames.com/news/epic-games-launcher-preview
>>110064565Don't care, don't play MP slop, not brown, unbothered.
>>110064565I want to play Battlefield 2I don't want to play gay stuff with gay people
>>110064565It requiees way too much shit to work. Heres part of the requirements:• TPM 2.0 & Secure Boot enabled in BIOS• A kernel signed by a trusted distro (Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, openSUSE, Bazzite & more)• Any extra drivers (like NVIDIA’s) signed with a trusted key too• Measured boot (GRUB & systemd-boot do this by default)• IOMMU enabled (not needed on handhelds)• Kernel lockdown integrity mode on, kexec off & BPF LSM active
>requires systemd
>>110064590So basically Linux will become as infested as Windows in a few years?
>>110064704Well you just know all the big distros want to appeal to their seal clapping users that want to play fortnite, and so will all make changes to cater to this, then every other distro will get strong armed into complying too. Other than distros like gentoo where the only way to get a signed kernel would be to use the binary, while most of the users compile their own kernels
>>110064704yes, it's microsoft plus linux at this point
>>110064704No, you'll still be able to have a distro without the STDs, that's the beauty of Linux
>>110064590You should already be doing all that anyways
>>110064781nyo
>>110064781>You should already [be a corporate shill] anyways
how are they going to verify the chain if it's almost entirely "compromised" though? since everything is foss you can just make patches to tell them whatever you want
>>110064590>Any extra drivers (like NVIDIA’s) signed with a trusted key tooAnd what are these trusted keys, would Fedora akmods key work for nvidia?
>>110064704>systemd, wayland, flatpakit already is
>>110064565Running gentoo, so I'm not bothering to move to a signed kernel. Dual booting Debian instead of Windows would be great though for when lil bro wants me to play Fartfight with him. This is only a positive.
>>110064565bro how many fucking indians are working at epic?
Will it require a Trusted Computing chip?
I don't trust these game publishers to not write these kernel drivers properly. It's bad enough I need to use proprietary drivers from NVIDIA, but I somewhat trust them to not write a niggerlicious driver or at least be on top of any potential exploits.
>>110064565>>110064590This could actually be terrible for linux. Lots of games already use EAC and it would be a blow if they all switched to this more invasive form of anti cheat.
don't careno call of duty
>>110064565>no custom kernels I don't play multiplayer slop to begin with but fuck off with this shit. CachyOS uses custom kernels configs exclusively and it is the most popular distro.
>>110064590You forgot>systemd as a dependency
>>110065320Yes >>110064590
>>110065433READ NIGGA READ
>>110065490Reading is for faggots. So, it gets the kernel to do kernel stuff through a syscall?
can i run linux and use my existing epic or steam library installs without having to redownload/reformat?i.e. can i share a windows library with linux?
>>110065499Nope, WINE/Proton doesn't like to read stuff off NTFS partitions. You can, but is not advisable, it will lead to instability while gaming.
>>110065464Lol, nobody uses CachyOS, its popularity is solely driven by AI bots. It's unnatural to gain so many users in a month. Use your head.
>>110065490>and eBPF programsAnd what do you think an "eBPF program" is, nigga?
>>110065510meh, i don't really want to redownload 12TB of games. i had a good time with cachyos and omarchy, until a bios update basically nuked the installs. better performance in wukong than on windows 11 on the same hardware, though.maybe some other time, thanks
>>110065538electronic Best Phriends Forever, of course
>>110065535>Lol, nobody uses CachyOSThe Steam hardware survey shows the contrary.>its popularity is solely driven by AI bots. That would be omarchy.
>>110064590>A kernel signed by a trusted distroTrusted by whom?
>>110065593not by (You) obviously
>>110065559Just like Statcounter, right.
>>110065620statcounter doesn't require the user the login into an account and click submit on a hardware scan.
>>110065543you could do this bullshitprobably better off just getting a different drive if you're going to switch over
>>110065593Me, nigga.
>can't build my own kernelyeah fuck off
Release Fortnite as free software. Or it's going nowhere near my system.
>>110065987>Release Fortnite as free softwareclaude's working on it
>>110065994Well you better prove it and share what you got now
>>110064565Reminder that on-device anti cheat is completely unnecessary. Server-side anti cheat does everything it needs to do, but then the effort is on the devs to implement and they don’t want to bother. It’s pure laziness pushing the shit onto the customer.
>>110064982if it's not signed by microsoft, cannonical, red hat, nvidia etc - it's compromised
>>110064590So I can just use a rogue tpm if I have a discrete one to give greenlight to my bullshit signatures right
>>110065650Bitch it's all AI just like attack on AuR, all AI driven. Even lefty activity on this board.
