Big time waster for the entire software industry.
>>
>>110064819
It's only americans and american companies who do this shit, never needed leetcode in germany and german companies.
>>
the industry is a waste of my time

why?
it taught me a lot especially when learning a new language

Once you work as an interviewer, big time SAVER for the entire software industry

Filter 4 out of 5 retards that cannot even think of a simple for, only takes half an hour

> uhh but I use claude
>>
>>110064819
jobs still doing this shit in interviews is crazy
it was always a humiliation ritual but now it's just a farce
>>
>>110065139
If you can't tell this just by talking to people you may be mentally impaired. The reason this exists is NOT for interview evaluations.
It's to create clear metrics that can be surfaced up to higher levels of management to take authority away from the actual interviewers.

You can't en masse, and it takes half an hour anyway - countless retards, "+10 YoE Staff engineers", charlatans, etc

It's a very good filter, if you pass the interview it's very likely you're not retarded. It's not even used for smaller companies. Imagine getting mad for having to do this problem to get a comfy job that pays very well: https://leetcode.com/problems/climbing-stairs/, nigga just do the problem

When I was at FAGMAN I had a few go-to Leetcode easy questions I'd ask but with minor tweaks just to catch people who were memorizing solutions (especially for problems with trick, hyper efficient solutions), and it was embarrassing how often it worked. Even more embarrassing how many people couldn't step through the solution and figure out why it wasn't working, and I even had one guy tell me the problem was impossible when they figured out the trick solution didn't work.
>>
I've been generating all my code with LLMs for a year at this point. I'd be fucked if I had to do one of these again without an LLM

>sorry you couldn't implement a regex engine in 30s on the spot we're only interested in real devs we'll let you know your resume is on file dw ;)
>>
it doesn't matter how much slop you can get claude to churn out. if you can't solve leetcode easy problems, you're a waste of resources.

I can immediately clock if someone is legit in 2 minutes of conversation. The sole purpose of these evals is to create metrics that can be surfaced like I said.
Nothing good is implementable "en masse" if you have shitty people doing interviews you will get shitty hires leetcode or not.
