I don't have time to grind fucking leetcode. Now I have to call in sick to my job, only to fail this shit.Any tips?Bah fuck you all I'll look it up. Fucking shit cunt fag shit fuck.
Does anyone else deal with a manager who always finds something to criticize you about despite you being a senior? He seems to always think I'm not doing any of the soft skills correctly. Yet I'm always doing them outside his vision with other people across the company. For some reason, me not reacting on slack to messages or posting just little things that has nothing to do with my current work is considered bad. He also thinks I need to show my skills more when we have too much shit to do to be worrying about trying to fix everything. This guy is really giving me a lot of shit for things that are a waste of time.
>>11008158890% of managers are useless retards, just ignore him
>Went out drinking last night
>>110081617He says he's going to have follow up meetings with me to give feedback on if Im improving or not. I can't ignore him. He's clearly looking to push me to "improve" actively. I dont know why, Im doing work as is. But he doesnt like that Im not engaging enough despite me being too damn busy with my actual engineering to do what he wants from me. He doesnt even code himself.
>>110081588They're LinkedIn business school brained lemmings this is the only thing they know how to do and the only way he can feel like he's your superior
>>110081588Unfortunately, he's playing the game.He wants you visible because he's seeing positive feedback from the top when people post their team's "press releases".1. You don't have to like it, but ignore it at your own peril. Some VP of your department may get a visit from the Good Idea fairy and they just lay off anyone who hasn't posted (yes c-suiters can be this stupid)2. A good manager would be your own team's hype man, and he should be asking you for your change log/releases so HE can make those posts for you.
>>110081853Our manager is very lazy. He expects us to take on most of his responsibilities. And he's nothing like a hype man. He almost feels like he's there to make sure we don't go wild more than actually being a member of the team. In a sense, he feels like a security guard. And all he does with us is just tell what to do and not to do in his eyes. But he never gets into the technical weeds cause he doesn't know as much as we do. I show my quality through my work yet he keeps not being able to see that despite my reports I give on something fixed or found.
>>110081874If you're the senior lead, pull him aside for a lunch and tell him this, just politely. Sucks, but it's your job to manage upwards and take the hit for your guys.Do not do this in front of ANYONE else on the team. Go to lunch or somewhere away from the rest of the team. Ask him for what he wants from you, and then come back with your counter offer of what the team needs from him.
>>110081939we're all remote
>>110081949Welp... Not optimal, and probably explains his management style. Does he do 1-on-1s? Because if not, you're going to have to schedule your own meeting, and those always suck.
>>110081976He does, and I hate them cause all he does is go >you could be doing this betterIm like >have you seen how many projects Ive finished and initiatives Ive led and customers Ive talked to?Apparently he has not, but it's not my job to be doing what he's suppose to do. Which all it would take is for him to stalk my messages across Slack.

>>110082067Dunno about that one, chief. If you're already doing his work for him, then just open the PM dashboard, setup the automated daily progress tracker, and put him in the recipients field.
>>110082116thats the thing, he does look at our tickets. we literally have a board of all our tasks in each progress. He literally sees during standup what we're all doing.
>>110082135Okay, so he just wants the summary email. You're a strong independent developer. Automate that shit. Even you can barely save money with that kind of rent. 100*. 75-(12*2600)=43k after tax and rent. Probably much less, like $35k because of other tax. Then other living expenses eats away the rest

The models become so good that they can fully replace a senior SWEStep 3. They raise prices. Are you paying $100 a month? Prepare to pay now $15 000 a month. You say what? It won't work? Consider this: when AI becomes the engineer, running its own test suites, refactoring legacy subsystems, a project which historically required a team of three senior developers six months to complete, an AI lab can charge to execute it autonomously in an afternoon. No more SWE jobs but also no more vibe coding either. Thanks for playing and paying.

They get what they deserve. The models are still not good enough to replace the worst jeet. "2 more weeks" for 4 years straight does not cut it.You are right that the day AI can, in fact, perform tasks faster than skilled devs, $1000 a month would be a possible price point. Not much than that, though, as jeets would remain far cheaper.

So my coworker (indian) kept saying shit about our boss for being white, I (black) actually love the guy but this coworker wouldn't stop shit talking about how the guy is useless, that we should get rid of him, etc. Meanwhile my boss (the white dude) kept telling me how much he likes the coworker (indian) so I said fuck it and actually told him the truth eventually, he was devastated but also very thankful, and even said some other had approched him and told him something similar, ok I thought that was it and I could move on. NOPE. Seems by boss (white) talked with his boss (indian) and now I have a meeting with him (indian) about the matter. Trying to find a new job but i get totally filtered by HR somehow. Im applying only to relevant positions and get interviews every week. They tend to ask basic question like tell me about yourself, behavioural shit and then ask do you know tech x or y, like do you know how to use cicd. Which i always tell yes, and im not even lying or trying to inflate anything. Then they ask about pay and if im willing to go on site 2-3x week that i also say yes.I dont know what to do or wtf im doing wrong. I go to reddit and people have 10x higher pass rate. Like they interview 20 times and are sent to next round in 10 of these. It is easier in case you always fail the technical interview, just sit down and study but what to do in my case?
>>110096635We aren't actually hiring, we just pretend to be hiring but reject everyone (unless a unicorn candidate happens to fall in our lap). You have to have open public hiring positions so the company looks healthy as long as possible, until the global credit cycle gets worse.

I'm a UI/UX designer in a big tech company. We were a team of 12 and recently 11 got fired. I'm the only one left there because of my interest in AI, new technologies, etc. Mostly using git copilot now in visual studio with Claude and it kinda does everything I did in a year now in a week lmao. The whole wireframing part (that we now could even skip honestly), then the UI part. AI is kinda shit doing really good visual design in that field so I do some designs first and it uses those as reference. 90% of my work consists of prompting and reviewing the results now. It's hard to believe that just a few weeks ago we were just a normal design department spending all day in figma and building UI libraries.

They hired me as a C dev, but all I do is internal process stuff - collecting reports, minor doc updates, starting various pipelines when this and that condition is met, wrangling Jira, etc.The team is chill, both scrum master and manager always assure me I'm doing well, pay is good (for my cunt), I'm full remote, it should be the dream job.But I have not created anything or learned any transferable skill. you have to learn to tame the jeets to be able to work in tech, in some ways you will need to adopt elements of their culture. you are the brahmin and they are the dalit, and you absolutely cannot do the work of a dalit. otherwise they will offload every single part of their job onto youif they ask for help for something, you have to obstruct them at every turn>they give you a support ticket they "need help with"they didnt do a good enough job investigating the issue, give it back to them and tell them to do more>they come back again afterwardstell them to read the docs first and write down what they tried, then come back if it still doesnt work>they come backask them to document what they tried (they didnt do anything so this will take some time for them to go back and do what you told them to last time)>back againnow you can finally start investigating whatever the issue was. however you can absolutely not fix it for them, when you identify how to fix the problem, you tell them what to do and make them do ityou need to treat every interaction with them like this or they will trample over you. treating them like you would a fellow westerner is basically showing servitude to them and you become the dalit

I'm amazed by Amazon's unique ability to see another company do something and then get absolutely raped and shat on only to proceed to do the exact same thing. They introduced a new mandatory AI application that's supposed to be run 24-7 that "learns how you work" like Meta. It fucking reads all your emails and slack messages including DMs, with no way to stop it. I tried to add some kind of hard instructions to stop it from reading DMs at least and for emails, HR/Medical check/Salary related shit and it feigned agreement that it will never read them again only for it to add a feed created by a DM by my manager a day later. I watched it walk in circles as it tried to explain how he got access to this information that's only in my DMs with the usual "you are right to push back on this". The whole thing was triggered initially because one of coworkers sent me a joke message saying he wants to die, only for the AI to create an urgent task and spam remainders that the guy is about to kill himself and asked me to call emergency services, kek.
