I have the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra. I love it and it's really fun to use, but it's not really worth it if you don't have the money just lying around (both for it and for a new phone immediately).

Basically the inner screen is insanely fragile since the screen protector it comes with is plastic, so you can scratch it with your fingernail; dust gets in the hinge all the time both from outside and on the sides on the inner screen where the hinge is, I've gotten into the habit of always wiping the hinge first before unfolding; I would not trust its alleged water resistance for shit and won't use it in the rain because of that; you can't really open it safely with one hand, this is more of an issue with "flip" style foldables since there are some things that can only really be done on the inner screen; and the screen protector it comes with is basically guaranteed to peel off by itself in ~1-2 years, at which point you need to extremely carefully remove it yourself, and you void the warranty if you do it before that.

That said, if you're okay with these drawbacks, it's really fun to use generally. Using it half-folded on a table to be able to watch something without holding it or reading recipes etc. is quite nice, flipping it open to answer calls and closing it to end calls is fun, and generally it's really satisfying to just flip it closed when you're done with it; also when using the camera with it open it can display a preview on the outer screen, so someone can tell you in real time how to adjust the shot if you're taking a picture of them. But that's all it really is, it's fun and feels nice.

The only practical advantage is its smaller size that fits much better in smaller pockets and tighter purses, but this again is exclusive to the "flip" style foldables; the others have a bigger screen, but personally I have never wanted or needed a tablet, I have a laptop and that's way better than a tablet would be for any use that may require the bigger screen.

Apple has better hardware/software integration where android just throws more megapixels, ram and a bigger battery at the problem. Like iphones have insane standby time. But being a closed ecosystem if there's something you can't do on ios at this point, you're unlikely to ever be able to do it

I've owned a lot of android phones going back from like uh, a galaxy note 2. And android has come a long way but in so many ways it still has the same fundamental problems I saw back then. Power management still sucks, memory management sucks they just threw more ram at it, etc. The software sucks at communicating with the hardware. Like I don't miss finding custom kernels to save some battery life, it's just silly on a phone. Also getting updates are still a problem, but way less of a problem than in the past

My train of thought sounds all over the place but unless you want to do something specific on android, you're almost always going to be happier on ios.

It's priced at what the market will bear. There are multiple tiers of iphone to choose from and if you want "better" specs from an android phone, those are available too. You can get a deal on a locked phone from a carrier though, especially with a new line.

It's been the same way probably since android came out. I could get an iPhone 4 for $199 on contract or a Motorola DROID for $99, maybe they were even free.
