Use case for AM radio?

It broadcasts in mono, so you get the full impact of the sound, no stereo bullshit.
>>110099769long-range broadcast
no clue. don't have them in yurostan. we have FM as a fallback for brittle digital bullshit, DAB+.
>>110100843This. Lindy effect suggests it will outlive the internet. Hope you're HAM certified.
>>110100859>DAB+Yes, 24 Kbps AAC audio signals, fantastic quality for gorgeous looks saar. The absolute wankers in control of the thing really fucked this one up.
>>110099769Radio in general is utter shit, 30% of it is commercials. In 1 hour of listening you will probably hear the same commercial twice if not more. The worst is when they have sound effects, especially car sounds that distract you while driving. At least with podcasts I can manually skip the sponsor sections manually (which is annoying as well when driving but it is possible)
>>110099769>AM radiosomething to listen to with breakfast
>>110099769>West of the Rockies, you're on the air
>>110099769wish it wasnt polluted with boomer news and ads crap
>>110099769identifying when some glowies put a tracker on your car
>>110099769religious broadcasts and listening to chinese propaganda from the other side of the world.
>>110099769I honestly never listened to Art Bell on AM. He was on FM when i discovered him sometime around 1997
>>110103276Thats shortwave, you literally nigger. And ReviewBrah broadcasts on Shortwave btw
it was just the boomer equivalent of podcasts and chatrooms
>>110099769It's already nearing extinction in Europe. Many countries have ceased all broadcasts on AM and others are hanging on by a thread. All in favour of shitty DAB garbage and online streaming.
obviously frequency modulation is slower process than amplitude modulation
>>110099769It's for zoomers how nostalgia larp over shit there weren't even love for
>>110100859???central europe autism/germany is one of the central hubs for amateur radio under 30 MHz
>>110099769get information in case of a blackout
>>110099778nah gen x cancer there>>110099769West of the rockies, you're bussin fr fr, what's lit?
>>110099769Hyper local programing. Really is nice to hear people talking about school boards, state reps doing interviews, weather, and local issues.Turns out I don't really need to care what goes on in most places.
>>110099769disrupt airplanes, and cause cancer.
>>110103385I'm convinced DAB is part of a plot to eventually implement encrypted DRM broadcasts.
