this is the only good software for editing images. everything else either lacks basic functionality or just sucks
>fartcraft doesn't have zoom blur
>gimp doesn't have a circle drawing tool
>photoshart is propriatery garbage
it's fucking insane how bad software for editing images is. I might be compelled to write some myself. it's also unreal how little attention paint.net seems to get compared to the aformentioned inferior alternatives. name a single flaw with paint.net. you literally can't.
>>
this isn't Krita, though
>>
>>110102936
name one thing that makes paint.net inferior to krita
>>
>>110102946
paint.net doesn't even support pressure sensitivity of drawing tablets.
It's not a competition to Krita.

True dat
It is really simple, and if you are using blender-bloat or a gameengine-monstosity, ableTON or fl-studio on the side, you will appreciate it. It has great accurate pixel perfect manipulation with arrows and numbers, modding possibilities, and simple to implement effects. Love the color wheel as well. When will we get a linux port?

>muh non free software
you'll never be a woman
>>
yeah true paint dot net's UX and keybinds always made sense, it's the most sensible UI there is
>>
>>110102930
here is a flaw
it is locked to windows, no linux version
>>

not my problem

Photoshop has been industry standard before you were conceived, troon.

it doesn't have content aware fill

example use case: i would like to use this lewd outfit from a poster as a reference in minimax h3 but there are unfortunate creases over the bikini bottom and paint.net doesn't have a tool to automatically remove them.
also as long as I'm on the topic, photocraft's version of the tool also sucks compared to photoshop.

caveat: the new qwen2.1 is decent enough at targeted edits without mangling the image that a lot of this type of work is probably now better suited for pure AI workflows anyway but that's a recent development.
>>
>>110103733
Those aren't mutually exclusive.
>>
>>110102930
paint.net is also proprietary
>>
>>110102930
It's good for 99% people 99% of time, Pinta on linux is serviceable if you can get over it's horrible ui. Wish there's something similar for vectors too.
>>
>>110102930
macos has the ideal image preview, but windows has the ideal quick editor. They should be easy enough to clone and put on one system...

Aseprite for pixel art
Affinity for everything else
>>
>>110104222
It's just a matter of time before it gets the reverse engineered and vibe coded into open source. The author himself is using AI to add features, so he won't be able to cry too much about it.

I just prompt in Chatgpt and get the image I want

What plugins are you using?

I use
Kill Color Keeper (lets you erase a specified color with a threshold or delete everything but that color)
and
Outline Object (pic rel)
a shitton.
I literally do everything with Paint.net (and a little Inkscape when it has to be vector or lots of lettering with kerning) Wish there was a linux version.
>>
pdn is probably the best piece of software i use honestly
wish the fartcraft guy ported this instead of wasting time on adobeslop

It's open source so its not locked to shit, just throw it at an ai and have it fork it.

https://github.com/paintdotnet/Paint.NET-on-Wine
>>
>>110102930
No, it's not really good. It can't even fucking snap the layers while dragging them.
I tried it and wanted to like it, but I ended up installing CS6 very quickly.
Being better than g*mp doesn't mean a program is actually good.
>>
>>110102930
The selection wand is bad and nobody ever coded a better one so I have to use photoshop to get the most out of it, but it's much snappier otherwise.

its not, paint.net is closed source

my newly installed program had every single blur you can imagine except the zoom blur. I installed it using the regular client or whatever it's called. this has never been and will never be a problem with paint.net

You may not have checked thoroughly. It's fine.
It's under Radial Blur with Method set to Zoom.

Not even remotely relevant, but no actually, directional blur is not in CSS.
>>
>>110102930
It's been my go-to tool for years now but text editing is still a mess. And he acknowledged it (apparently it needs a lot of work before it can be implemented)
>>

>y-you know how to d-do that, r-right?
imagine having to do random shit for no reason. what a cuck. no thanks. I just use software that actually works instead. enjoy your shitware that's held together with duct tape and bubblegum
>>
>>110102930
Objectively true. PDN is so good it's the only thing I still haven't found a reasonable alternative for since I switched to Linux entirely. The closest I found was lazpaint, but it's so janky I had to give up and accept gimp into my life. It's pain but at least it does everything.
