usecase of this general when /vcg/ exists?
>>110104749Good for discussing web infrastructure and databases, possibly. For actual programming it's beyond pointless given that that's solved by AI.
>>110104749I like writing code, and I don't like telling an LLM to generate a bunch of slop for me
>>110104749there was never a use case for this thread because 99% of /g/eet is unemployed, /vcg/ is unironically the most appropriate general for this board
I thought WebSockets would be easy and now I'm having to handle pings and pongs and all this shit. Why can't that just be handled for you.
https://blog.master.dev/svg-linked-parameters-will-change-how-we-do-icon-systems/>they dont know you can style svg in img tags now
>>110107740I want to like articles like this but it’s hard for me to care about Chrome-only anythingt. Ladybird fan and Safari main>>110104749this is for understanding how to make websites>>>/g/vcg/ is for whipping up all kinds of programs in a jiffy, many of which aren’t websites at all
>>110107740we should go back to bitmap icon sets
>>110108134we could do this if we didn’t have 150% zoom like Windows and Linux people do sometimes
>>110108191Few artists have been able to reproduce in vector graphics the beauty we had in bitmapped times. Now every GUI is made of unimaginative flat colored and simple shapes.
>unimaginative flat colored and simple shapes.I should clarify: The icons are harder to differentiate and identify at a glance now that they all look alike in color and shape. No doubt their designers are overjoyed at having filled out an icon set under heavy theme restrictions - with no thought on being fit for purpose.

>>110108272I think the pendulum swung that way cuz there was a shortage of designers back then, but now that there's AGI, you're not lacking labor. Taste is now the bottleneck. But I dont think we'll go back to full on skeumorphism, that shit looks ugly now.
i fucking hate the internet
Where do you guys hang out whenever this thread is gone?
>>110108272That's the result of using CSS for everything
>PHP9 is changing unset vars and array key access from a warning to fatal errorThis is going to be apocalpytic. Yes all devs should be making sure their code does do that but there is decades of legacy code out there coded back when PHP encouraged all those practices.I remember having to spend weeks going through legacy code when they made count() fatal on non-countable params. This will be far worse.

i'm sorry guys but i feel so desolated and sad, i have no friends so i have to let it out a bit hereeveryone is doing ai stuff, agents, skill etc for coding, and it's content i am not interested to dedicate my free time init broke me when i saw lauren this weekend, it seems like she created something called pstack that's very popular to do agentic coding, she was the react compiler girl i looked up to, and now she works at spacex wtfthe pocock i knew is completely gone, he's no longer the typescript guy that taught me typescript, he's all in ai now, and wtf why does his repo have 200k+ stars, that's insanei tried watching some of theo's videos but they are all ai stuff i'm not interested to watch so it's hard to keep watching, i just can'tit's like the group i once followed to learn web development completely changed in the blink of an eye, and i am lostsome people disappeared completely, others went into aiis it really that interesting to make a chatbot write code for you? i can't get into this kind of stuff. at least not in my personal time right now, there are other stuff i want to learn
