I have an m5 macbook pro that was given to me by my job and a windows desktop PC that I use for gaming, I want to build a clean setup where I can dock my laptop with one thunderbolt cable and switch between both computers with one button.I have:>2 1440p 240hz monitors>1 1440p 120hz monitorThe issue that I'm noticing is that there aren't any good switches built for gaming and work, all of them assume you're either running 2x pcs or 2x macs and the hybrid ones don't have good peripheral throughput (usually one hdmi and one displayport for monitors, 4k60hz). 'My idea is to buy a caldigit ts5 dock for the macbook, then plug that into a switch, but that setup would end up running ~$700+ and might not work.

in my wagie days I used https://github.com/debauchee/barrier for something similar, but my work laptop was Windows, so I had two Windows machinesswitching between the video inputs in your displays can be done via software as well.so my setup was basically:>mouse and keyboard plugged into my desktop PC>desktop PC connected to my two monitors>work laptop connected to my two monitorsand all my keyboard and mouse inputs were technically originating from my desktop PC and only delivered to the work laptop over local networkso maybe something like this, depending on how ANAL is your IT department about you installing and running random software on your work-issued macbook

could also get wireless keyboard and mouse that support being paired to multiple devicesbut that limits the available peripherals quite heavily. I wonder if there would be a market for a tiny bluetooth device with like two USB-A ports and a button, basically a wireless KVM that could be paired with several different devices and would just passthrough the inputs from your regular USB mouse and keyboard
>>110107167>software switchthis sounds like a disaster ngl
>>110105270Can't you just RDP into your Macshit with its lid closed over wifi? It doesn't require buying additional hardware and no wires.
