absolutely. I still have this Lian-Li hard drive cage they don't make any more. Fan and backplane, takes 4 hdds (3.5 inch) in the space of 3 × 5.25 .

Also I use 5.25 front plates with 6 little knobs to set fan speeds. Set it once, noise gone forever, no matter how often you distrohop and boot from another drive.
