How far away are we from generating entire anime episodes with video models?
>>
probably not far, but there is no "we". if such a thing ever comes out, the compute power required to make a 20+ minute AI video will be insane. not for us single GPU poorfags. even a single RTX PRO 6000 wouldn't be able to render 20+ minute anime episodes.
>>
2+2+2 more years
>>
>>110108546
You can do that already, but it will take a week or so on consoomer hardware.
>>
Manga panels to anime episodes would be nice

The problem is that the people who got their hands on AI gen are so unfunny and untalented it's actually sad and offensive.
people have already done some sort of complicated setup where an AI could create an entire cartoon animation using CSS (but it's pretty simplistic, like svg graphics).
For better quality anime I don't think video models are viable, we need need the AI to actually draw it.
AI video gen is an analog to image generation. Aka it attracts the most unfunny and untalented people for some reason. It's almost like it's just made for shitposts?
>>

talented funny people are out there employed and enjoying their lives, not generating this mental illness

You cant do that yet, but you can make manga panels in novelai with just a prompt

These 2 are probably racking all the money today doing business with other studios who are all using ai. While Miyazaki just got older.

We need the homemade anime technology NOW. There's only one good show this season.

We can probably do it now. It still requires human writing, directing and editing in order to be good, but the AI should be able to generate the raw visuals, shot by shot, at least if given a reference storyboard. It would have to be pretty generic visuals though, nothing too difficult or unique.

This is probably the best example I've seen so far, it looks and sounds so natural that I didn't even think it was AI at first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OeFAyukTV0

Hardly. Look at this clip: https://nitter.pp.ua/latexspacebabes/status/2099543002192425177#m
At 3.5 minutes you just need 6 times more processing, hardly extreme.

even though my grandpa was blue collar German immigrant, there is a very striking similarity between him and Japanese. He died in 06 and was a still living in the 70s/90s with his belongings, fashion, etc

there are older parts of Japan I've been that seemed very German too. Old grandma grandpa run restaurants serving coleslaw and breaded fish schnitzel

This old guy reminds me of my grandpa

You're already there, if you enjoy 5 second episodes with no sound.

Artistic works are supposed to convey emotion, tell a story, it is the medium through which you communicate your perspective, thoughts, emotions to another human being/audience of another human beings it has intrinstic value, this is why even "bad" movies years later are considered art, underrated, kino or whatever. If you strip away the human component, all you're left with is soulless slop and the never ending 8 bit guy animation garbage.

That is essentially the argument in >>110095830. Problem is, the vast majority of people don't care, they just want light entertainment, a few minutes with zero intellectual needs after a long day of work.
It was the same with hand crafted shoes vs. mass produced factory shoes.
>>
>>110108546
Never.

Try to sit through 20 minutes of this without cringing. Then ask yourself if the models are going to be able to fix this in 20, even 10 years.

bilibili, the chink youtube, recentlymade a specialised i.e. containment section for AI videos because no one cares about a flood of slop.
same reason rule34 has that toggle and pixiv have the same filter.

The latest episode was bad and shows the limitations of letting AI do too much. The nurse was repeating her line too much and Dumbledore said his shtick twice as well.

Yeh, which is why human directing is still needed. He got lazy, but if an experienced studio kept up high effort during a whole production, they could easily make a whole anime using that model.

Already, we have webcomics with one author and AI made images. With catchy titles such as "Lesbian Warriors of the Dying Earth" it is every bit as pr0ntastic as you may expect. And next year these will probably be animated - and still pr0n. And I just checked and see the logo is now fully "animated".
And just in case you are dense: yes, it is as NSFW as it gets.
>>
>>110121426
Noice, wish the artstyle remained consistent though
>>
depends

slop?
today is already good enough. Randoms produce shit today and it's visibly shit

non-slop?
no one knows except in japan. If I have to guess they use AI to heavy lift some of the most boring mechanical parts and for verification frame by frame. I'd say they are still not using it much. If we get some titles from some unknown studios with gorgeous animation it means we got some big AI breakthrough. It will be a piece by piece process, no one will oneshot an anime anytime soon, not a good one anyway

worthwile non-slop?
That depends on writing and AI sucks reeeeeally hard at writing so don't hold your breath
>>
>>110121499
Two years ago it was a toy, mainly good for light entertainment. Last year it was useful. This year dozens of professions are threatened and the rate of improvement is unbelieveable.

Emily Youcis has been using AI to help with her animations
