How did we come full circle on phone prices? Now you pay per month and basically pay full price for the phone even with a contractThere are few deals anymore through the carrier and even fewer deals on unlocked phones.
>>110110482someone correct me if i'm wrong buti don't even think carriers have contracts anymore for the service itselfit's the phone financing where they got you also $30 a month is much more mentally palatable than $1000 for this thing that fits in your handi remember for a family of 4 it was like $250 a month under the old contract scheme (with cheap phones, extending the contract), now i think it's like $30 a line cancel anytime so the service is significantly cheaper. we now pay like $130 after bullshit feesthe phone costs what the phone costs. carriers may get a slight discount from the manufacturer because of volume but if they have the ability to lock you in however they can they're gonna do that.tldrservice got cheaperphones got more expensiveit evens out and fucks you either way just like it always has
because phones have become huge with huge cameras, premium materials and suck out entire parts of your day because society revolves around them. This is why they command an entire month's rent worth
op confirmed gigapoor and forced to buy a phone with a contract kwaboty
>>110110482> howthe paypiggies pay whatever they are told they need to pay in order to get their consumption-based dopamine fix. line must go up and the maximum wealth extraction will be committed
What is this shit, I got a midrange Oppo 5 years ago massively overspec'd for what I needed and it is still massively overspec'd for what I need. I don't see why I would replace it for another 5 years and if I do I'll just get the equivalent model.
>>110110482weird, I was just at the mall today and there was a tmobile ad to give you $1000 off on the new iphone. You sure you're not living in the wrong place?
Britbong and I can get a contract on uswitch or compare the market that is still less than the phone RRP
>>110115393it's only on new lines i think, get bent if you're a current subscriber
Switch networks every two years then. Or stick with the same but put their MVNO for 1 or 2 years in-between, like vodafone > talkmobile > vodafone
