How do you make this look nice? I just tried it out for the first time believing the grass was greener, but it's like you need to have 4 different theme applications that are all fighting each other.

1) global theme breeze light
2) disable floating panels
that's it

It's an uphill battle of diminishing returns. you can spend about an hour or two with your chatbot to edit config files, but you invariably settle on a C minus setup. it is not worth it. For eye candy use unity ubuntu or gnome ubuntu if you can put up with that.

>"but it's close to windows..."
it isn't. not since 2005
>>
>>110111217
you don't
you just don't
it's been ass since breeze and hasn't gotten any better
>>
I think it looks nice but you have to be into 2010 era aesthetics
>>
>>110111217
Just stop caring. Reminds me of the XP era where every program had its own ugly skin.
>>
>>110111217
use GNOME
>>
>>110111217
download Ark color scheme in the settings
install papirus icons pack from shithub using their script
done
>>
>>110111217
noctalia + wm of your choice. These new shells handle all the moving parts of a full de already, why even bother with kde or gnome?
>>
>>110111217
You can't.
>>110115296
Yep.

KDE is fundamentally ugly. I don't know how they've managed it but no amount of theming fixes it. And if it does, it means installing random code from literal who themers.
>>
>>110116503
Can I disable the insanely rounded corners on Gnome? It's the biggest dealbreaker for me in screenshots but. Looks damn ugly but I never tried it out to see if it's toggleable.
>>
I think it looks nice by default (Breeze). I really hope they don't try to """modernize""" it to appeal to phone niggers.
>>
>>110116732
i don't get why people act like breeze is absolutely dogshit to look at. the worst part is the default color schemes that sear your eyes and that takes two minutes to fix. right now i'm just using a modified greybird scheme with accented title bars.
>>
>>110116741
I think it's a generational thing. Kids probably think it's bad since they are used to tablet/phone style menus and "tempered glass"
>>
>>110116721
Yes, I think you can put CSS overrides somewhere in $HOME to do that. But I just run it stock.
>>
i just don't like that kde has no default way to add blur all windows and needs 3rd party plugins to do it
>>
Is calligra abandoned? I hate libreoffice
>>
>>110111217
QtQThemeKdeThemingEngine needs more binary c++ objects

stop falling for the theme meme. just enable the built in dark/light theme, disable floating panels and transparency, move your app dock/ system tray to where you prefer it and get a high quality icon pack like papirus. thats it
>>
>>110118205
>thats it
Well, in your screenshot it still looks ugly, so I don't think "that's it"
>>
>>110111217
Default Oxygen Dark looks amazing. Just disable floating panel.
>>
>>110111217
desktops that still use SSD look like shit no matter what because they never look unified. just switch to GNOME like everybody else.
>>
>>110111217
you dont, Qt has 4 different ways of styling apps. but wait, a fith one to replace them all "unify" will surely fix it!
>>110115459
this
>>
>>110118275
In that case it's a shit taste problem on your part.
