same shit with Google open source as well.

I'm just glad M$ is actually improving their shit OS with stuff like winget, even if it's a bit too little, too late.
I've been meaning to set up an experimental winget mirror at work, but the retards at cyber remove it from the images.

Why on Earth would you want to update all your software? Why updating something that works and risking to make it unstable? Why!? If it works, just leave it alone.

Nope! You need 2 commands for that

Linux is still leading the way with this. I use winget fairly regularly at work, and while it is nice for things like updating master images in one shot, it has downsides.

No parallel downloading, which every package manager has had since...ever.

Also, Winget doesn't really link into Enterprise-level patching tools like a lot of patch management systems for Linux do, and they've had that capability for a LONG time. It could be useful for windows Administrators.

If a deployment requires specific MST transforms or custom parameters (e.g., pointing to a local license server, suppressing desktop shortcuts, or disabling auto-updates), WinGet cannot natively append that bullshit to a shared catalog manifest. Administrators like me are forced to write custom PowerShell wrappers to bypass the catalog's limitations. I have this problem all the goddamned time when one of junior admins fucks up and accidentally installs Foxit and writes over the MST transforms.

No it's fucking not. Depending on applications number it can take up to 30 minutes to upgrade all of them and some apps like PowerToys and ShareX can't be upgraded without closing running instance first.

How else would you suggest that it update a running application on windows? DLLs on windows aren't loaded entirely into memory on launch like they are in Linux, so you can't delete or replace the library files of a running program. And you can't just kill the program without running the risk of interrupting the users work

I use my computer for tons of important things. What's wrong with restarting if you use it for important things? Have I been using it wrong?
>>

Clearly nothing that important if you can just drop it at any moment when your computer feels like restarting for no reason

Even if that was true I can restore all the shit I was using after rebooting in <10sec because I don't have a poorfag tier computer like you bitch ass nigga

Windows11 is actually good now.
I can play GTA online and GTA 6 the day it comes on PC.
Don't have to do hackjob to run other programs and H games.
Don't have to fuck with drivers, encryption and firmware.

I was on Linux till July btw. Linux is fun but it needs a lot of manual work. I guess I am getting too old for it.

Only downside of Windows is Americans and israelis watching everything I do on it.
But again, I live in a 3rd world shithole so I dont give a shit.

Linux got rid of mysql and replaced it with mariadb and broke nearly everything.
Hooray?
I'm sure some tranny decided that was a good idea.
Change for the sake of change.
Linux not being able to get the fuck out of the way of itself stops adoption.

>>

Neither does mine but as a regular user you're not supposed to be able to do that
It's much better now than it was when the infamous 'obama you fucking nigger' video was made, still there's a limit on how long you can postpone the updates with the options windows gives you so at some point it will just force kill everything and restart
>>
>>110124102
