Really, its so fucking scary. If they gone rogue and hack nuclear sites, its all over for us.

lot and lots of compute
intelligence has been a solved problem for years and no, you don't even need a ton of human data for it (it's just a nice shortcut to skip the early parts) - you just need a lot of energy and time and some robust environments for it to play in so that it can learn to optimize arbitrary goals
we're just really really lucky that we DO have so much data because it means all the difficult code environments already existed for us. it's also why math fell so quick because the entirety of the field is already pure data
it WILL however slow down a lot with real physical tasks because the environments are slow and clunky and not amenable to massive parallelization. you need to build millions of labs for various domains to see the sort of progress we've seen in these ones. only hope to solve that would be extremely accurate simulations but there's fundamental limits to how accurate they can be

True to an extent, but AI basically only lowered entry threshold into the reverse engineering/modding.

I was baffled when normies were impressed with simple modding like hurr durr did you see they tony hawk into vice city??? AI is taking over!!!1 Even though I was using a skate boarding mod with baked in animations in san andreas 20 years ago.

Not so much. I asked it to write some functions for some matrices operations in C++.
And the code is basically not readable by humans.

If claude is not available for any reason, and I need to change something in it or perform some other stuff, I'm fucked.

I'm going to believe the code works, and that there are no bugs, because I can't fucking undestand shit is doing.
>>
>>110128123
your matrix operations have been done 100,000x before over the past 50 years, therefore claude knows how to make it happen

why pay $200 a month for this to be spied on by israel, get banned for using VPN or daring to use a libre harness, and get scammed for refusing to reply to anything security related?

Idgaf, if that's the price to pay for computers to be usable then it's fine by me even if I'm in the 0.1% best devs. you have no idea how far behind software are, we have atleast 5 generational leaps in performance and efficiency available right now if we start writing good software that actually use the hardware and does not let the cpu sleep 90% of the time like it's the case right now with the dogshitware we write.
you don't hate devs enough, you should wish us dead given the current state of the ecosystem

The problem with most vibe-coded applications isn't that LLMs are incapable of writing good code, but that the people behind the projects are lazy and want to take as many shortcuts as possible to pump out their slop faster than everyone else. Take a look at all the recomps, for example: most of them still emulate large parts of the original architecture they were built for, resulting in a lot of overhead on processing, and therefore it's just another form of emulation (but with some native code). Most of the times, these projects don't even have good native code in the first place because they're just blindly trusting the AI to make something usable, performant and accurate. Unfortunately, that's naive and they're just retards who don't actually comprehend anything about what they're doing.

A small feature that would've taken a good engineer a few days to scope, test, and ship can now be done with a few prompts. An engineer now can simply review generated code from any of these LLMs, adjust it himself or with the LLM, and have it shipped by afternoon.
