watched 10 regrets of NODE pioneer recently. it is the talk where he mentions Golang as a "better language" for server stuff. wanna share my analysis:

why NODE became successful:

> small core
> rejected hardcoding Promise objects
> no "security concerns" whatsoever
> pressed users to build extensions

why NODE is loosing the grip:

> big, staticly linked monolith
> hardcoded Promise objects
> security zealots everywhere
> FFI abomination
> old, complicated build system in Python (still not dog foodding itself)
> still cannot include a file

that may explain why "I love typescript!" Deno (written in Go) has no grip. "This was one of goals of Dart!".. "Total failure!".. hehehe.. "Please use typescript".. "Rust might be a good choice for Deno"..

cloud window pops up in the middle of the talk, interrupting the poet. anyway, the most important thing to success, IMO is pressing user-developers to build the runtime system.. otherwise whom do you grow? some easy easy take it easy wimps? who would be doing another iteration?
