Welcome to the third general thread for The Order of the Machine Tower.>What is The Order of the Machine Tower? The Order of the Machine Tower is a society dedicated to Technomancy: the idea that modern technology, software, electricity, and AI are forms of "magic" able to accomplish feats once attributed to the mystic arts. Our members seek to master and advance this craft by sharing knowledge, refining code, and exploring the boundaries of conventional techniques.Tech / Science News>Scientists who discovered a third form of magnetism win major physics prizehttps://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/10/261017230035.htm>America’s new era of private sciencehttps://www.economist.com/science-and-technology/2026/10/19/americas-new-era-of-private-scienceAI News>CERN and Mistral join forces to accelerate AI for sciencehttps://home.cern/cern-and-mistral-join-forces-to-accelerate-ai-for-science/>Colossal Biosciences announces new AI platform to help accelerate de-extinction effortshttps://techcrunch.com/2026/10/14/colossal-biosciences-announces-new-ai-platform-to-help-accelerate-de-extinction-efforts/General News>French Prime Minister calls for partial curfews after weekend riotshttps://www.reuters.com/world/french-prime-minister-calls-partial-curfews-after-weekend-riots-2026-10-19/Unofficial homepage for the Order, with FAQ, questions, and more.https://adeptus-telvannus.neocities.org/hpgs/machinetower_mainNEWWe now have our own journal where people can submit papers to, about virtually anything, but mainly focused on tech/AI.Here: https://pastes.io/2I5h9by5Simply follow the links inside to read the various papers, there are only 2 right now but we will be accepting papers. Just write your paper in pastes.io and it will be reviewed for submission.Feel free to participate! Share your thoughts, news, projects you have been working on, etc.

>>110114855i dont mind this threadhave a you,i think its timelyalso: tentative thread themebut at least make it better if you challenge ithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUwka6653oQthis is unironically powerful shit
>>110114855Same anon working on Aletheia project. I'm reading up on Hermes agentic models, and tomorrow I'll playing with qwen3.8-9b-hermes-fc-tooluse-GGUF, a smaller model used more for function calling, selecting tools, and organizing multi-step tasks. I'll ping here from time to time on updates.

>AI Proved the Quasi-Riemann Hypothesis. What Happens Now?>Unlike other recent AI proofs, this one has been unpacked by human experts. The implications, one mathematician said, are “staggering.” https://www.quantamagazine.org/ai-proved-the-quasi-riemann-hypothesis-what-happens-now-20261019/
>>110115538Lots of seems and maybes
>>110115580He's talking about the full reimann hypothesis, AI apparently solved a quasi reimann hypothesis, the reimann hypothesis is one of the biggest questions in math I think.
>>110114973Using the qwen3.8-9b-hermes-fc-tooluse-GGUF, I was able to get some clean results after a lot of tweaking. I'll need to break it down more to and concentrate the archive with more data while running more queries from the librarian, but pretty promising so far with this much smaller model.

Sorry I've been absent, just got back home. It is so cool to see that we have so much discussion that our last thread didn't die, but resulted in a new one needing to be created. We have come along way since the first post I made a few weeks back!>>110114855Thank you for making a new thread and adding new stories! I found the one about CERN to be particularly interesting. As for my essay, I never got to respond in the last thread, but I will link my rough draft in the master pastebin/journal either late tonight or tomorrow, though most likely tomorrow. I will reiterate once again that it is 20 pages, but I will try to see what I can reduce before I post it.>>110114952>>110115072I am glad to see we have some classic music enjoyers among us. It's a pretty "normie" choice, but I have always loved "Air on the G String". As far as "powerful" instruments go, I personally feel like the pipe organ is unmatched, though unfortunately a dying breed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SopaCsjEKPM
is this the "cyberpunk is a thread" faggots
>>110115538If AI truly gets to the point where impossible, or seemingly impossible, math problems are being solved, we could see an age of truly unprecedented technical growth. Though I suppose one could argue we already are regardless. I am really interested to see how AI and quantum computing will interact. So many of our current models are built around concepts of binary, but if an AI is able to make use of quantum computing, who knows what the results will be.>>110115998I am happy to see you are still working on Aletheia! I know it is still finicky, this was it's first release, but I can assure you it was in an even worse state before I released it. Getting it to stop outputting YAML was surprisingly difficult.>>110116095I might have named the project in a confusing manner. The project itself is named "Aletheia". There are two separate prompts that are given to your AI model to act as separate personas with different roles, the "archivist" and the "librarian". The archivist takes whatever data you give it and (theoretically) turns it into markdown. The markdown is (theoretically) in a uniform format, so all of your entries will look the same. These entries will comprise your RAG database. A python app handles some metadata stuff in between. Then, the librarian searches your database that is (theoretically) neatly organized and pulls information from it.I wanted it to be like a personalized "living book", something you can pour all of your knowledge into, easily search, and have it live on your machine.
>>110116947No problem, I'm eagerly awaiting your essay, I'm also going to expand the papers system into a small project that relates to you and the other posters living book thing, which will hopefully help us get started on organizing actual technical projects of which the other poster is already working on one. It's probably going to be called Alexandria and it would be like a small organized text document containing absolutely everything, papers, projects etc, and you can just share the plain text document, maybe it can be a subsystem of Aletheia like the other poster is using it, very long term I could see such a long text document being used to train AI. I don't know yet, i'm just trying to cobble together some rudimentary organization so we can start properly working on actual technical projects and perhaps a philosophical/scientific journal, maybe even some open/closed source products or games in the future. And now that I think about it might be a good idea to have actual meetings on wednesday (I post) and friday or whenever you want to post it, like a symposium, and we can post threads on other days if we want but not obliged to, this is so we don't have to just idle around with threads for no reason but we can still have meetings and exchange ideas, or keep the threads going if we want to. I know it sounds like bureaucratic tail chasing but I like to get the meta shit out of the way early to get to the actual stuff. Obviously people can have meetings randomly or whenever too.
>>110115538>>110115580> Mathematicians have numerically verified (opens a new tab) that the first 12 trillion nontrivial zeros are on the 1/2 line. But they can’t be sure the hypothesis holds for all the zeros, and even one solitary outlier would land like an earthquake. Please I just need one more grant to study this12 trillion data points might seem like a lot but you never knowThink of the implications
I had the old thread bookmarked, glad to see this didnt die.>>110117192Your Alexandria idea sounds cool. I do think that some people might not want their work being used to train AI though. There is a difference between sharing your work with your peers and giving it to an AI that might regurgitate them. Just a thought. The symposium threads could be cool as well, as long as they remain lightweight and dont become a mandatory obligation or anything. I also know it was mentioned at some point that we were going to set up a forum of sorts in case we got banned here. Could we have some sort of alert system on it, so if something is up we can check to see if the general is on a different board? I dont want us to end up making things complicated, but I agree we should get some structure going.
>>110117887That's a good point, the first versions won't be used for training, I won't use the papers to train AI unless the writer of the paper opts into it, but obviously anyone can train AI with anything, the point of the papers is really just a knowledge base and way to exchange ideas, hence the name, the training was just a long term idea. And of course, nothing is mandatory, people can do what they like, this guild or whatever only exists because people are interested in it.As far as jannies potentially going insane, I don't know, that's why I advised op to add a comments section on his site which he did, I guess he might add a notice saying the general is on a different board if that happens, maybe bookmark his site or something. Here: https://adepttel1-comsite.github.io/ootmt-forum/I don't know what to do other than that, your guess is as good as mine but this seems good for now.
>>110118073Ok coiol thank you for answering and linking the comments site. I think your idea is good, I just wanted to bring up that concern before it became drama with someone down the road, the internet being what it is.
>>110119558dammit i meant cool
>>110117262That's the nature of math.
>>110118073Cool site condom heads, way to deanonymize yourselves
Hi bros. I like this concept a lot. But just so I won't get into a war with insane people - does this general have any persistent schizos yet? So I now what to ignore.
>>110119603The only persistent shizo is the OP
>>110119609His writing is coherent and self-observing. Seems fine to me.
>>110119614Well join the schizo club then, if that pseud babble makes sense to you, misery loves company
>>110116974It's a good project to hone my skills integrating tools with ai.
>>110119629And what is your purpose? To sit in this thread and seethe? That's miserable.
>>110119665well stop bumping your shit thread, displaying how retarded you all are to everyone, that would be a good start. I'm in other threads too you know lol
>>110119603Seems my answer came to me. An extremely shitter shattered narcissistic schizo. Good to know.
>>110119688have fun stretching those metaphors over your head
>>110119603You found the anon right away. They're alright, it's just 4chan doing its shit balance thing. It wouldn't be this place without a fag keeping it grounded in a schizo way.
>>110119773what did you fags expect? Your little clubhouse where you hold hands and sing combaayah all day? A little pushback and you go shitting yourselves
