Does it even matter in the current year?

Many don't socialize with green bubble poors
>>
>>110115595
It's never one product. It's the ecosystems...at least in Apple's case.
>>
>>110115595
When the term (((side-loading))) came into vogue, it was all over.
>>
not really but i wouldn't want to own a jeetdroid in current year
>>
>>110115719
what happened?
>>
iPhone doesn't have a universal back button.

Android phones don't have good face unlock tech.
>>
I don't care for any iphone's feature, so I pick the cheaper alternative.
>>
depends on needs
if you need to do something outside of how apple wants you to use a phone, android ez.
everything else just get an iphone

it's really kinda amazing how after 15 or 16 years, really nothing has changed. they're just fundamentally different philosophies.

apple controls the software and hardware so they can optimize power management, ram usage, camera shit, idk probably even storage use. it just works great for MOST people. excellent longevity too

android is just an OS. it's meant to run on tons of different devices and they all have different hardware. so you get shitty optimization and a worse user experience. so often manufacturers just throw more ram/battery and other features at the problem in hopes it will fix stability or usability problems. software updates/longevity ranges from great to very bad. you can run basically anything you like but it comes at the cost of security and stability

idk. i've had both and i've landed on iphones. i don't miss loading custom roms and kernels to fix problems OEMs should have fixed from the beginning.
>>
>>110115595
you can sync your droid to your googlebook laptop
>>
>>110115595
At this point it hardly matters but i am used to android i have the few apps i like using. Getting an iphome would mean changing things that sont need to be changed. Also i can install apks to not pay for things
>>
>>110115595
Yes unless hate owning your devices
>>
>>110115733
>Android phones don't have good face unlock tech.

Yeah the Apple one keeps being the best but Samsung's flagships have another type of high security face unlock that is good too. The rest of series have regular 2D. I guess it's just a matter of time until the other brands develop a face unlock as good as Apple's. You still will have to buy the flagships to get the good one off course. It's one of the few things that really distinguish flagships with medium cost smartphones. At least that I care about.

it’d be fine if the android devices were cheaper, but they fucking aren’t kek

i mean the third party apps on ios are generally better
i don't even bother downloading apps (on android) anymore unless they're for really specific purposes, and usually i'm in and out to fix the problems or get some other thing set up or whatever
the last time i "browsed the google play store" was like actually 5+ years ago

>no sideloading (no cracked apps, open source projects (mostly))
BUT

It's still software though since those only have a normal camera, this sounds like they're just gatekeeping it.
I think only huawei actually bother with hardware face unlock.
>>
>>110115733
>Android phones don't have good face unlock tech.
why is this? does apple have some kind of patent on 'good' face unlock? or is it just that android manufacturers don't want that ugly camera strip across the top of the screen?

This.
Apple shit is very good for decrepit boomer and retarded women.
True tech enthusiasts will choose Android.
Anyone who disagrees is an oversocialized normie and should leave my board.

I don't know if the rabbi stealing their foreskin make them neurotic or breaks something in their brains, but every conversation with an amerimutt turns into a dick-measuring contest. Everything is about money or "who has what". This "green bubble" shit it just another manifestation of this phenomena.
I'm not a commie or against having nice stuff, but the amerimutt status neuroticism is simply not normal.

It's funny that they brought up the Green Bubbles, of all things, in the antitrust case. That lawyer sounded like he was personally seething that he got ghosted because of his Android.

No it's all sloppa
Samsung even uses apple pricing nowadays
>>
>>110115595
Android is more bang for buck, but you need to do research, otherwise you can end up with a shitty phone. There are many shitty Android phones out there, that's just how it is.
I reckon even most /g/tards don't know which specs to look for. It doesn't help that most reviews are terrible.

iPhone is the easy choice for lazy people.
It's like paying for Netflix or a gaming console. You don't have to think and you get "good enough" experience by paying more and giving up your freedom.
>>
iphone is for those that do not want to customize anything besides their wallpaper. Everything else is it just works, which is fine for the vast majority of people.
>>
>>110119180
Android phones are pretty easy though if you want gud specs and apple tier support. Samsung is pretty much the applel equivalent of android. Everything else is kinda geared for either for chinks, poos or edge cases.
>>
>>110119190
It's easy for you and me, maybe, because we did the research.
But a regular person doesn't know shit. I see many people buying Pixels, for example. They think it's from Google, so it must be peak Android experience.

>Samsung
Yes, but only the S-series. The lower tiers have compromises and usually aren't worth it.
Now if you just want "a phone" it doesn't matter. But if you want good speed and a good camera it does.

It isn't about specs. Androids easily win there. It's just the ecosystems. Apple is never truly selling just one device.
Hate him all you want, but picrel made the multi-device Trek like workflow a reality for everyone. Googlebooks might finally bring it up to par, if people adopt them.
>>
>>110117854
Worse, it's a aspic assuming everyone speaks his garbage language.
>>
>>110119121
I'm so glad that when I tell my GF stuff like this she goes "Oh my God that's so cool" and ask me to show it to her. She is back and forth for our Jellyfin + NAS + Android TV stick setup and says that's the best thing I did so far.
>>
>>110119258
it's only a matter of time until Applel introduces the clothes pin that you can push and go "Hey Siri, tell me what to think today" and go about the day like a meat automaton
>>
>>110115733
i have an iphone and hate face unlock, fingerprint is so much better
>>
>>110119454
They don't need to with the phone already in everyone's hands. That's what pisses off the other techbros. They have to play by Apple's or Google's rules. They all want their own ecosystems, but have shitty devices options. OpenAI is working on exactly that: some little "puck" device that they hired Jony Ive to design for them. Meta is trying this bullshit with the Rayban glasses. They're just going to bomb. You can't top the phone as an everyday device. Maybe literally jacking your mind into the system - and that's the dystopian shit Elon is up to with Neuralink.
>>
>>110115595
Depends. If you're a giganormie who only uses stuff from the app store and who opens up the wallet to pay for an ever increasing subscription or worse, loves watching ads, no, not really.
If you want the phone to be your own, Android is worlds better, though far, far from perfect. You can make at least some meaningful decisions and install any apps you want.
>>
>>110119483
Elon is doing that shit only for himself though, he wants to live forever as an AI overseer. Like in that movie with Johnny Depp, Transcendence

Everyone else is a lab rat
>>
>>110119258
>It isn't about specs. Androids easily win there.
Wrong. The vast majority of Androids can't compete on essential specs like CPU speed and camera.
>It's just the ecosystems.
Wrong. Most iPhone users don't have Macs and couldn't care less about integration.

It's sad that people on "/g/ - technology" don't even know smartphone basics. What a shithole.

I didn't say anything about Macs specifically. That's the best way of going about it, but it's a fucking hydra. They'll grab people from other directions. A watch, health tracking and fitness, an iPad, Carplay, Apple Music, iCloud subs, every little app from the Notes to iWork to Photos, etc..
>>
>>110119482
I'd like both. I used an iPhone for a bit and loved how it would unlock in the pitch black just by pointing it in my general direction. But sometimes the phone would be placed on a desk and I just wanted to place my finger on it instead of having to either pick it up, or loom over it.

Apple still has an edge in that while they don't have the absolute best cameras on paper, they make the most of them, and they are consistent across all the phone's cameras. Android phone is likely to have different color rendering across cameras. Android phones also tend to lack the ability to do HDR video above 30fps, since they don't have dual-stream readout from the sensor like Apple does.
>>
>>110119748
my problem with face unlock is sometimes you have a hat or glasses or a neck warmer or you haven't shaved in three weeks and it will randomly fail to unlock you
