Which layout is best for prompting?
>move away from the standard>lose gains over time in troubleshooting>never regain those gainsIf /g/ understood actual efficiency this board would lose >90% of its traffic.
>>110116988Qwerty is gud enuff for 99% of what you need to do. 100% if youre in a soon to be extinct job like programming or accounting
>>110116988I switched to Colemak maybe 12 years ago. At its best, it feels great. There are downsides. Every game and software allows for rebinds of varying quality. Some do it automagically, some don't, some don't update UI elements with your new binds, some won't let you rebind WASD into WARS. It's a crap shoot and you'll be spending time at the start of every new game figuring shit out and revisiting control options a few times in your first hours. You won't know what button to tell your friends when they ask you how to do something.Typing on a phone is shit because all the keys are now very close to each other and a lot of your typos will also be real words that won't get autocorrected. It will make you slower on the phone. Above all, don't hand your phone over to a girl to get her number. You will not have a good enough answer beyond being a nerd.Still though, feels good man.
Dvorak masterrace!
>typing your promptsi tell deepseek to write the prompt then copy and paste it into claude
>>110116988>arrow key nibletsabysmal dogshit
>>110116988The one that >99% of keyboards in the world use by defaultt. picked up Dvorak in college and stopped using it because I was tired of switching the settings on every computer I used
>>11011751212 years, and countles hours reconfiguring, and you still never realized your fingers have different lengths and that optimally loading the home row was a bizarre goal to begin with.Ring/middle fingers on WE and IO, problem solved.
>>110117657its dogshit on mobile and the keybind remapping on desktop became too much of a pain, colemak seems bettert. ex-dvorak
>>110117965this, I feel removing the row stagger and making it split cups like the dactyl manuform would be better for ergonomics than a different layout
>>110116988qwerty, since my middle finger is longer so having E on the top row makes sense.
>>110116988fucking IDIOTSjust make two E keys, one for each handstupid faggots
>>110118081this honestly. there is ZERO reason to have strictly one key per letter
>>110116988>I need to type fasterSHIT LITERALLY NO ONE EVER SAID>Hmm yes I need a solution for a problem I never had. I'm even willing to spend extra!RETARD
>>110118099dumdum some of us can think much faster than we can typeI think I can do around 130 wpm and my brain wants to get words out at least several times that fast
>>110118112>Think at 400wpm>I NEED I NEED I NEEEEEEED A MEME LAYOUT THAT INCREASES MY TYPING SPEED FROM 110 WPM TO 130 WPMRETARD
>>110118131I think faster than 400 wpm but not in words but I think I could probably get 400 wpm out of it with the right input device, yes. That's not retarded that's smart.
>>110118081just buy 2 keyboards if you have that retarded needs
>>110116988https://layouts.wiki/guides/start/intro/
>>110117993>using desktop layouts on mobilethis is why you use layouts/kbs that are actually designed for mobile like hyper on thumbkey
>>1101171073 is a skill issue, but there is some truth to your post, you might not be able to afford the temporary time loss from switching. It's what keeps me from learning proper typing, I know I'll be faster than my current method (basically an improved hunt and peck, I know the layout but I press everything with my indexes except for space, shift and adjacent letters when applicable), but I can already do 50-60 wpm, every time I try to switch, I drop to under 10, get to about 20, and then I need to type something actually important and return to what I know works
>>110116988Keyboards were designed for women to do women's work. For me it's speech to text.
>>110118399That was designed for disabled
>>110118409Ya and with advancements in AI it works flawlessly. Used to use a stylus back in the day for hand-writing to text. But it was and still is shit. Stay mad lady finger keyboard typer.
>>110116988pretty trippy layouts you got there, my dude whoah
>>110118433Okay, stay mad literal retard.
>>110118382The absolute gall to state authoritatively that i am wrong and to only lend "some truth" to my post, with which you follow it up by saying you type at 50wpm with pecking.Sit down retard, you're just making a strong case for retard bashing until you learn silence.
>>110116988my most used letters are GNRIE though
>>110118469Yes, if you're used to A and switch to B, you should eventually become as good with B as you were with A. If this never happens, and there are zero external factors, the only conclusion is that (You) are the issue.I brought up typing speed because it's pretty much the most generous set of examples available for A and B; B is clearly superior to A, I (or any other A user), would clearly benefit eventually from switching to B. This doesn't happen because not everyone can afford the temporary (keyword, temporary) loss from learning.
>>110118539If i replace A (a car) with B (a car that is slower and less efficient overall) the outcome should be the same.GOD DAMN you are genuinely bottom of the barrel. Why are you even here? This is a board about technology, inherently that requires a minimum level of intelligence. Just shut the fuck up you dim puddle of a person.
>>110117657>>110116988Dvorak reporting. I learned touch typing on QWERTY, switched to Dvorak over 10 years ago now. Mainly due to comfort not speed. I also use Dvorak on my smart phone.
>>110118550These alternative systems were designed for a reason, so they're not inherently worse, and there are people who've gone through the learning dip and left it better off. Your comparison is flawed. You also only now, on your third post, bring up that you think A (qwerty) is better than B (dvorak/colemak), but don't bring up any reasons for it other than "it's the standard", this isn't a reason, is asserting that the learning dip is actually a cliff with zero evidence.>Why are you even here? This is a board about technology, inherently that requires a minimum level of intelligenceWild statement from someone unable to form a coherent argument
>>110117407>soon to be extinct job like programming or accountingWill this happen within a fortnight, sire?
Colemak Cing here. Still switch to QWERTY for gaymen rather than rebinding though.
>>110118601The argument was settled in my first post. Deviating from the standard most often times, when it comes to 'solved' issues, leaves a net total loss. You're just too dumb to extrapolate from the context, you're lost in the nitpicking and ignoring the fact the conversation is over.Your counter point would have to include and inherit the idea that any alternative presents a net positive value - which cannot be demonstrated in this context.Let me take a few steps back so i am within a step ahead of you, so i can counter your coming point:No, "some users" finding "marginal but objective" increases in their wpm doesn't translate to a usecase for deviating from the standard as the tests are largely arbitrary self-referential tests. And no, i don't have to show "evidence" of how the standard results in a net positive because the marketplace has already established alongside multiple metrics that fact.Your only hope in a counter-argument is an AI designed typing layout and rollout scheme backed with empirical data. But that's not here, yet. That you cannot see the fight was lost 2 replies into the thread is a common problem with low IQ people. You reach for a counter out of spite but you never considered anything beyond near-now factoids that are largely irrelevant to the context, even if it was a shitpost.Considering you peck type at 50wpm don't waste your time on a reply, just put the chips in the bag.
>>110118690Holy cope
>>110118690>Deviating from the standard most often times, when it comes to 'solved' issues, leaves a net total loss>Your counter point would have to include and inherit the idea that any alternative presents a net positive value - which cannot be demonstrated in this context.Retarded mindset, you're basically arguing that cars have no reason to exist because transportation is a solved issue, just use horses like everyone else bro>"marginal but objective" increases in their wpm >the tests are largely arbitrary self-referential tests.Pick one, are these tests objective or are they arbitrary and self-referential?>the marketplace has already established alongside multiple metrics that fact. The marketplace includes alternatives, the fact some people pick them means they have a reason to exist>Your only hope in a counter-argument is an AI designed typing layout and rollout scheme backed with empirical data. But that's not here, yet.Like dvorak and colemak were? Also, why would it specifically have to be designed by an AI? Is there no human in the world, not even you, a super genius, capable of interpreting this data and making a new design?>That you cannot see the fight was lost 2 replies into the thread is a common problem with low IQ peopleAsserting that you're smart doesn't make it reality>Considering you peck type at 50wpm don't waste your time on a reply, just put the chips in the bag.You seem to be latching onto the fact I type at a marginally above average speed (50-60) using the inferior method as if it was some sort of gotcha, under your own logic, there's zero reason to not peck type, after all, most people do, it's the standard, why are you wasting your time touch typing?
>>110118081why are hot spots even an issue? All languages are going to have them with their character set.
>>110118833>Retarded mindset, you're basically arguing that cars have no reason to exist because transportation is a solved issue, just use horses like everyone else broThis example failed to assume (this part requires brain work from you to inherit the context and extrapolate, which you've failed to do, which is a solid indication of low reading comprehension) a solved standard and how market forces keep the standard with aesthetic variations. Again, issue is already moot and answered with the available context in the comment chain>Pick one, are these tests objective or are they arbitrary and self-referential?Something can be arbitrary AND objective. Again, this is an IQ issue on your part>The marketplace includes alternatives, the fact some people pick them means they have a reason to existThey almost never deviate from established standards in meaningful ways unless trying to set a new standard. There is a natural depreciation to market variations on standard to the degree of deviation. A simple example, cola, 70% coke, 20% pepsi, ~etc. You can have some grace on this, as i don't expect even an enlightened average person to think in terms of market macro scales. Even though one should easily be able to draw parallels when they're introduced, which you failed to do>Like dvorak and colemak were? Also, why would it specifically have to be designed by an AI?Again, failed to read what i said. Wasted time pecking>Asserting that you're smart doesn't make it realityDoesn't dismiss that you've made 0 counter-arguments that fit within the context of the conversation. Meanwhile I've expanded the conversation, kept it informal, and drew out more contextual examples of why you're wrong. Of which you've admitted to none, and failed to grasp even the base concept of my initial shitpostOnce again we're here, the issue is over, you're just clawing at tattered edges.
>>110118888It means that fatigue will be concentrated in the finger that presses the key that gets used so much more than others. Spreading it over two hands would halve the fatigue. If you don't type much then I guess it doesn't matter.I don't type much now, but if I were writing a lot then I'd want to make it as easy and fast as possible.
>>110119021i think autists just love inventing problems
here's the actual dvorak layout since nobody posted it. vowels on the left home row
>>110119038Well hyperfocusing is their whole thing
>>110119038you're the guy who would plow his whole field with a dull stick you found and not see the problem with that
>>110119049dvorak and colemak are both typewriter cope dressed up as science. duplex-72: 36 keys a hand, symmetric columnar stagger, thumbs on shift/space/layers instead of your pinky doing the work of a mule. nothing is more than one key from home row. you're all fighting over an 1870s lever arrangement. stay mad, your wrists will file a complaint long before mine do.
>>110119068i plowed your mum with my dull stick and she saw no problem with that
