Worst messenger ever. My mom uses it because she has to talk to people who are also on WhatsApp and I helped her migrate it from one phone to another... It's the worst. How come it can only work on one phone? You technically can connect other devices, but they require your original device to be online. And I need to manually back up chats to move them to the new phone. It's complete non-sense. Also it must have access to your contacts or it will not be possible to make calls. Make this make sense.Compare this to Telegram: it just werks on as many devices as you want (and yeah, I don't care that Pablo Doorov can read my chat).
And yeah, I have no idea how come Telegram got this reputation for being drug dealers go to messenger in Europe or US, but somehow it's literally the best messenger UI/UX wise. Nothing comes close. People always settle for the the most average, if not the shittiest, option and so most are on WhatsApp or Signal.
The only gain coming from these garbage apps is to help boomers to migrate from the low-brow awful shit they watch on television to finally start using a phone like a normal person. That happened with my retarded mother, she forgot her soap operas overnight.
>>110122186>WhatsApp and I helped her migrate it from one phone to anotherI literally felt like killing zuckerberg and nuking shitsapp from the face of the earth when I did the same>need to manually back up chats to move them to the new phonePrivacy theatre. It's "because messages are end to end encrypted and only saved locally," which we all known is a bunch of bullshit.I remember feeling like even shitdows was better software when I was doing the migration.
>You technically can connect other devices, but they require your original device to be online. Assume is so people don't account share.>And I need to manually back up chats to move them to the new phone. Can connect to your Google acc and it'll auto back/sync them. Basically gives you choice between keeping them on-device (supposedly messages are deleted from Fb's servers after being delivered) or cloud. In any case, at least isn't Viber. It's even more shit.
people started using it here in yurostan because texts were paid per message send. telegram didn't exist back then.
>>110123178>yurostan because texts were paid per messagedo euroniggers really?
>>110123178I think they literally appeared at the same time, so that's not an argument.
>>110123222same with dial-up desu, where euros paid per minute and the US largely shifted to flat rates mid 90s.
>>110123235whatsapp was released around the same time android appeared and people migrated to it. telegram wasn't a thing until years later.
>>110123121> Can connect to your Google acc and it'll auto back/sync themThat's what I did, but it's still incredibly cumbersome. And I spent maybe 18 hours going back and forth trying to confirm the account with sms, calls, etc. That migration process is unbelievably shit.e2e encryption is not an excuse. It werks in Element just fine and it's very easy to have multiple devices connected to it, sharing the same private key.
>>110122225because there's literally no one on tg except drug dealers, porn, piracy, and terrorists, which is based actually. Also knowing Durov is hated by the French makes it ultra based. I might use telegram even more rn, but I just hate that it requires a phone number.
>>110122186Good morning sir
>>110123606Everything requires a phone number. But at least once you register with it, you don't need to constantly be confirming it, even when adding new devices. It will ask you for it, but it won't need to actually use it to confirm with an SMS, instead sending confirmation code to your other devices.
