People look at stuff like this and go
>wow look at how fast linux is!
Am I crazy or is the only logical conclusion that AMD's Windows drivers are simply shit, and they leave a ton of performance on the table?

I've seen these comparison for years, honestly, I barely notice the difference, as a Linux user. But it's the same the other way around, when some Windows user is "showing off" that they're like 2% faster than Linux at something I also don't notice, probably because I'm not brain damaged
>>

A lot of the games show meaningful improvement, which can only mean that the 5700 XT had more to give than AMD could get out of it on Windows.
The question is, is Linux faster, or AMD's Windows drivers so bad they left a lot of untapped performance.
>>
>>110122827
That's a very good score for Windows actually, knowing that so many spyware are running at same time.

amd has had shit drivers for decades this is common knowledge and why nvidia controls 95% of the gpu market, which coincidentally, is the same percentage that windows has
except the difference in fps on nvidia is windows +infinity percent because nvidia doesnt waste their time with troonix drivers
>>

>the only logical conclusion
logical conclusion is: they never show top10 most popular games, instead they cherry pick top10 working linux games
>>
>>110123439
Most popular games aren't all of the most demanding. It's a lot of live service stuff.
>>
>>110123439
CS2 is already there, most of the top 10 is free to play and/or e-sports slop.
It makes more sense to do what people are already doing which is to select popular games using a variety of game engines.
>>
I love how Windowsfags thinks it's a win that Linux can't play certain games, when it's mostly the kike shit that needs Secure Boot.
>>
>>110123386
Performance usually is the same no matter how bloated Windows is (tested on both Windows 11 and Server 2025). at least on my RTX 5060 Ti. I think the issue is driver optimization more than anything.

>>110123568
I'm not though, I'm not even on Windows, I'm criticising AMD for having shit drivers.
>>
>>110123593
Windows doesn't play nice with AMD drivers and it's not only the fault of AMD. When I was on Windows 10 Windows just loved to silently revert my drivers to some shit default and also break AMD Adrenalin. When I looked into it both parties were partially to blame for how unstable that shit was.
>>
>>110123628
the ol' windows beheaderoo
>>
>>110122827
or, hear me out
drivers... are better... when people can FIX THEM
this is basic logic, valve has found this out decades ago, community efforts will absolutely btfo your attempts to make shit behind closed doors if you let them
>>
>>110123628
Somehow I've never had those issues in particular, though plenty of others of course.
I'm just bewildered that open source Linux drivers are better than AMD's closed-source Windows drivers.
Though the same goes for Intel WiFi cards apparently...
>>

>It makes more sense to cherrypick
nigger

Even if the drivers are better, I kind of miss the snazzy Adrenaline software desu. Its like a PC gaming staple. I miss all of the little app and driver suites that are normal on Windows. Maybe most would write that off as bloatware.

>cherrypick
It's called a representative sample dumbass.
It's why when tech journalists benchmark GPUs they don't pick 10 Unreal Engine 5 games.
>>
>>110123697
Unfortunately there's no real replacement for the Adrenaline front-end.
KDE at least has all the relevant monitor settings exposed like VRR, HDR, colour space etc.
>>
>>110123697
meh
between lact and goverlay it's pretty much covered for me
>>
>>110123711
I use CoreCtrl. But official tools are just kind of a silly thing I miss from Windows.

let's see multiple side by side comparisons in motion

amd's windows drivers are shit but windows performance is also just shit too
>>
>>110122827
Now try with an Intel GPU and it's the other way around
>>
>>110124433
Didn't Intel basically give up on GPUs at this point?
>>
>>110124815
No, they're targeting low end and laptops and even handhelds now.
>>
>>110124834
Then why wouldn't they want to have feature and performance parity on Linux?
Steam OS is a selling point for handhelds compared to the alternative, i.e. Windows 11 with chinkshit launchers on top.
>>
>>110123703
>a representative sample of games that conveniently happen to run on Linux well
again, do actual top10 or get the fuck out. i dont care about cherrypicked stats. what's next, Tux Racer?
>>
>>110124857
One of my machines actually is a laptop with Meteor Lake and Arc. I haven't tested it out much, but I'm mostly planning on using it for older games (like isometric RPGs). It's not noticeably slow to me, but I don't have Windows to measure it against. Afaik, Intel has contributed a lot to the kernel, so I don't know why it'd be shit.
>>
>>110122827
linux vs windows gaming benchmarks are only card specific. You can't extrapolate them across all gpu companies or even across all cards in a single company. The 5700xt might be better on linux but the 9070xt might perform better on the same benchmark under Windows.

So it's best to look at your exact card's benchmarks to compare differences.
