>An ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 owner in the Netherlands claims their laptop returned from warranty repair with only 16GB of its original 32GB memory. The repair involved replacing the motherboard, but the owner says the removable RAM module was never returned. Several weeks of communication with ASUS support have reportedly failed to resolve the issue.
OEM's are stealing RAM from customers now.

the best way to bench it is to find a game where you can stand still and nothing changes
tab out, change the power numbers, tab back in, note down the performance and power consumption
decide where you want to settle
>>
Posting here since there's currently not hifi general. Just bought a pair of HD600 and looking for options to get it running and plug an XLR mic as well. Should I get a separate brick for input and output (DAC + preamp) or would a combined audio interface be an option? What do market options look like if the latter is viable?
>>
>>110126213
Benchmarks will improve obviously but actual application is like 5 fps max. Not worth potential instability or heat.
>>
>>110126213
On my pulse, 220W to 242W gives about +7 FPS in a static Heaven scene. And 264W gives +5 on top of that.
But in actual games where GPU limited, going to 242W only gives maybe 2 or 3 more frames at best. Going any higher actually reduces FPS even though it's still guzzling down that extra power...
I'm still using the stock bios though. I'm only able to go over the default +10% PL limit because LACT allows it for some reason.

Seasonic is an actual manufacturer (OEM), not a rebrander, so it controls its own designs, components, and build quality. Other brands have sold Seasonic-built units for years.

What that gets you:
- **Good components and conservative ratings**: a "500W" unit really delivers 500W.
- **Tight voltage regulation and low ripple**, with protections that actually work.
- **Consistency**: retail units perform like the review samples.
- **Long warranties** (10-12 years on top lines), which they can afford because failure rates are low.

So it's both engineering and QA, but the QA consistency is the bigger differentiator.

Caveat: competitors like be quiet!, Corsair (some Seasonic-built), and FSP are close now, and Seasonic's budget lines aren't special. Check the specific model's review.

It's not worth running your max OC settings as your daily profile.
Chances are you won't notice the difference after all those performance overlays are disabled.
It's also likely your max OC setting might have some instability that cause frametime stutters and other bullshit that won't outright crash your display driver or PC.

Seasonic has been around since the 1970s, making PSUs for IBM PCs that cost five-figures.
Selling consumer PSUs isn't their main business at this point, and they built up a strong reputation where it's not worth selling PSUs with unreliable engineering or component selection.
Seasonic do sell some lower-tier PSUs, but they're obviously not meant to power 200W+ gaming video cards.
The competition for consumer PSUs is fierce though, you don't need to resort to a Seasonic if you're looking for a reliable PSU.
>>
>>110126515

Some of these TVs can hit over 4K nits highlights vs. 1000~1500 nits on currently available OLED monitors.

>Selling consumer PSUs isn't their main business at this point
Utterly delusional
Seasonic is basically non-existent in outside of DIY
Their only moat is consumer PSUs.
They may try so sell outside of consumer, but they have so little penetration you basically never seem them.
Brands like Delta/Eltek, FSP, AcBel, LITEON, etc have much more penetration.

Making PSUs 40 years ago means jack shit as this is all just commodity parts and power supplies are generally well understood.

The DIY space is really place that doesn't treat PSUs like interchangeable commodities

Hi there /pcbg/.
I have a rough idea of what my first build will look like, but I wanted to ask here for a second opinion from anons who know far more than I do about this kind of thing. I'd really appreciate it.
I'm in the UK and I'm eager to keep the price tag where it is at the moment (2-2.5K), though I'm willing to give myself some leeway without pushing too high. It'll be for general use, some gaming (nothing too heavy), streaming anime, music, drawing and light video editing. It's a middle of the road build, neither too little nor too much. A good all-rounder 1440p. The monitor costs £259 and after researching there isn't anything I'm particularly weary about, it fits my needs and looks great. I've never known anything other than fan cooling, so I've elected to stick with what I know instead of going with liquid. The motherboard has ALC1220 and the 7900X feels sufficient for the CPU. As for the case, I chose the Lancool 216, but my two main concerns with this build are longevity and airflow so I'm open to other cases. I want to keep this build for years to come and not have to concern myself with upgrading parts until I have to. I'm sure this PC will never draw more power than the PSU can supply. It all looks good to me but I wanted to be sure.
Also pic related, I went with an all-white design so I'm gonna call it Aria Il Computer. Thank you anons, I've learned more than I ever thought I'd know because of you.

Swap the memory kit out.
Crucial DDR5 is mediocre, and it’s safer to pick a kit with 6000MT/s EXPO speed profile over the 6400MT/s for a different reason if you’re a new builder.

This Klevv Bolt V kit is guaranteed to have better memory chips, avoid the Klevv Fit model brand though.
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/wZG2FT/klevv-bolt-v-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-kd5agu880-60a300i

This one should also work if you want a white kit with RGB lights.
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/4nJBD3/v-color-manta-xsky-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-tmxsal1660830wwk

i7-8700 or 9700?

I don't know whether hyperthreading or the 2 extra cores is more preferable. Looks like it depends on the use case and application/task. Hoping to use the system as a poorfag gaming setup.

Also, when buying used/prebuilt PCs, should you replace the PSU (assuming it's a few years old), or leave it as is?

honestly i’m just agonizing over it because i hate spending so much money like is it worth it? also i could trade my 2070 super into newegg to get $100 but i could sell it too. i also have some old motherboards and ddr3 ram i could sell to a small child or pigeon.

i’ve also debated selling my pro art z890 motherboard for the similar one with and, and a different processor. so i could do that too but is amd worth it? i just put together my 270k machine

Intel 10th gen is the last that can play 4K Blurays natively so it holds a lot of value to htpc/home media server buyers.

Upgrading from my i7-7700k setup. Keeping as many things as possible. Any problems you see? The CPU/Motherboard/RAM is a bundle from Microcenter. I'll be making the hour long pilgrimage because RAM kits alone are like $450 now.

Intel's SGX for native bluray playback had major security vulnerabilities. It's why they got rid of it. You can just rip the bluray and play it in VLC like any other movie. Side note, The Intel Arc A380 (specifically the ELF version from Sparkle) can handle full fat 10-bit HDR AV1 encoded 4K playback and it's a sub 75 watt card for like $170

By the time starcraft is out if it ever comes out you'll want a new card anyway that shit's basically still a whole college degree away from coming out, unless of course you feel like Jensen and expect your gpu to last 8 years minimum. If you want that I'd say just get the 5080 and I have a 5070TI, it's just not worth the ridiculous £1200 they charge for it now especially when you can still find the 5080 for around £1400. 5070TI made sense when it was around £700 which is what I got mine for. 5080 will definitely overtake 5070TI in sales because they are just overcharging for it so much. The actual GPU does not matter at all, only the VRAM amount matters, same for the crazy prices for the 5060TI 16GB. If anything Nvidia screwed themselves over harder because if they just put 24GB on the 5080 at launch like they should have they could easily be charging £3000+ for it now

I was looking up some gainwards earlier and it took me a while to find a video, when it comes to ones like PNY and KFA2 where the relative poverty of their customers is discernable aesthetically and from the mash-keyboard names it seemed no one was willing to show them off, although maybe I'm overestimating the dignity of third worlders and I simply need to look harder

speaking of gainward, they have a 4060 "ghost" (seemingly the low end brand) and a 4060 "python" (apparently mid-range), I cannot discover any difference between the two, the ghost definitely has it whereas the python looks very promising for none at all although I must make absolutely sure the lettering on the side doesn't light up before I can consider a purchase, this is the extent of the confusion I am faced with and why I think LGBT: Y/N is necessary among all spec listings

Should I buy pre-built?
There's some sales on now.

The reason I dont just get parts is cause my current setup is outdated. See pic.

I want a better GPU, but I also need ram for said gpu as i dont gave enough, my mobo doesnt support gddr5 which the new gpu needs, also my psu doesnt have a high enough output for it all.

The only thing left is my cpu and case. I even asked chatgpt if its better to buy pre built or to just upgrade and it said given my setup. Im better off getting a new one. I even got laughed at on /vg/ when I said I was going to buy a gpu and they told me my entire setup needed an overhaul if I did get one.

What do you guys think?
Is buying prebuilt a big taboo here?
I dont play AAA stuff that often but the stuff I do play does show my computers age and I get problems now and again.

Display Screen compression. Check your monitor settings if you can turn it off if your monitor even runs it. When you have an old one it may not be used anyway and something else may be the root cause
>>
>>110130880
display stream compression is used to hit higher hz at a given resolution on monitors/gpus stuck on older display standards
it causes monitor jitter and slight artifacting iirc
you can turn it off in the monitor OSD (if supported) or by reducing your monitor's hz
>>
>>110131295

get a cyberpower or apc. they all have batteries that easily available when the time comes to replace them.

the goal of a ups is for you to have a chance to save your work and have a normal shutdown. not having 3 hours of battery to keep plaing.

>>110131240
because bad powergrids, typhoons or earthquakes can fuck things up. ups gives you a chance to save your work and shut down any computer or server you have decently.

windows sadly does this automatically when the monitor amount changes. Maybe ask in the friendly windows thread if there is some setting or custom solution

>NVIDIA has established itself as one of Israel’s largest high-tech employers, operating its second-largest global R&D hub outside the United States with over 5,000 employees across seven centers in cities including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ra’anana, and Be’er Sheva. In contrast, AMD maintains a significantly smaller and less publicly documented presence, with audits indicating only a directly operated R&D presence and no specific headcount figures, though it has invested in Israeli firms like Classiq and Teramount.

I am from the first world with great infrastrcuture, and over 10-15 years I have lost equipment equal the value to an UPS. Include time and effort it will be a lot more. I don't know where you are getting your prices, but they do not cost as much 30 k.Maybe for for whole house UPS or something.

Some places are just most exposed to bad weather. Cities has a faraday cage effect so if you live outside cities you are generally more exposed. There are undoubtedly some tech larpers, but they just drive demand so let them do it.

there was a period early btc before crypto was taxed at all, then the gubmit realized they could assrape crypto bros on tax, even tho it was still seen as borderline illegal and banks want nothing to do with it because money laundring or whatever
so pretty much a nightmare to deal with and then you get assraped if you manage to do it but the gubmit will tax you to do death no matter what

Fractal Mometums are good case fans, they’re around $5 cheaper if you find it on sale like B&H.
Scythe Mugen 6 Dual Fan can probably handle that 270K as well as that Dark Rock.
