It's almost time. I was able to take old game I like, extracted all the assets and scripts, partially decompiled the engine, then recreated the game in a new engine. I can now play the whole game start to finish, except it's in a modern engine and the whole thing is fully editable. So now I'm gradually converting the scripts to native so I can get rid of the script VM shit entirely. Then I'm going to programmatically replace all of the graphical assets. Then I'm going to have all the transcripts altered to obfuscate them a little and change all the character names, and reproduce all the newly altered dialogue with TTS. Then it goes on Steam and is only made available in countries where the original game was never sold so it takes as long as possible for the reports to start.I fucking love the future.

I'm using Claude to build a Hybrid C&C game where you can seamlessly switch between Renegade FPS gameplay and the traditional RTS gameplay. I'm using OpenW3D and recreating the RTS game in it, staying as faithful to the original gameplay as possible whilst als being balanced with the FPS layer. If it all ends up working I will distribute it but users will need to provide their own Renegade and C&C installations for the assets.
