If it's really a bubble, then why doesn't google stop investing in it? They have more knowledge than anyone else and they KEEP pumping billions into it. They would have stopped by now if they didn't see the potential upside. We're fucked pretty much, anything else is a cope.

LLM’s are useful and interesting. Buying every single gpu in the world, bamboozling businesses and idiots into subscriptions, encouraging firing employees (who performed perfectly good work) to be replaced with the new magic technology (that doesn’t do as good of a job), and then restricting access and raising prices isn’t.
>>
>>110136405
AI can already replace 95% of all programmers, most of them just copy paste code from stack overflow.
Next year it will be 99.9%.

AI can be a bubble and still be the future, the massive over investment is on the idea these companies will dominate the market in the future, if it suddenly became easy to have high quality local open source LLMs then the investment goes down the toilet
>>
>>110136449
SO stopped being a place you could copy/paste code from years ago. Absolute disaster of a site that collapsed in on itself right when all the AI models were training. Fuck knows where claude's training data is coming from now cause it ain't SO and it can't possibly be reddit because sometimes GPT code actually works. If it was trained on reddit it would just argue with you that your approach is wrong and then not elaborate.
>>
>>110136692
>have high quality local open source LLMs
how can that be without the massive data centres which only these tech behemoths can invest in? (and currently only with subsidies from the goyim tax payers that never agreed to this)
>>
>>110136306
>dont invest
>the 1% chance of it not being a bubble actually happens
>get fired because you missed out on making billions of dollars
>99% chance of it being a bubble happens
>lose billions of dollars in a market crash that causes recession
>sorry boss but the entire economy is shit and everyone lost money
>keep your job because it was an external economic event that everyone was affected by
this is every bubble ever in history. this happened thousands of times before and will happen thousands of times again.
>>
>>110136692
This. Amazon was a shambles of a business playing at shops but by clinging on with its fingernails during the dotcom crash it managed to limp into moderate success over the next 10 years. And then suddenly they pivoted to being a services company right when the world suddenly needed someone-elses-computer to do things they normally would have done in-house. BOOM. Enormous success. And all it took was setting fire to money until they won the "oh shit we've already got that ready to go" lottery.
>>
>>110136692
Even if that happens, companies, wont do local shit they rather just pay OpenAI and thats whete the money is. Not in consumers
>>
>>110136730
It can't. People forget that local LLM is the run-off from massive data centre training. If there's no longer billions of investment in AI, local AI will just be slight modifications of existing models forever.
>>
>>110136306
You mean the Google that did nothing about the thing they researched until ChatGPT went live?
>>
>>110136306
It seems that there's a weird feedback loop going on with NVIDIA and memory makers. AI companies suddenly want tons of compute so they buy out all NVIDIA cards and memory chips, they skyrocket in price because NVIDIA and memorers can't satisfy demand, then other companies try to buy NVIDIA and memories and they are like "Buy our products now in these ridiculous prices or we'll sell you again in like 5 years, we have too much demand".
This apparently scared quite a few hyperscalers into buying as many GPUs as they can afford (plus huge loans), to the point that a huge number of GPUs are sitting on warehouses unusued, and will probably never be plugged in.

if those guys were gaymers they'd know how hard they're getting cucked and how worthless those GPUs will be when newer architectures get released. unless jensen purposely slows down the development of better GPU architectures which would be the biggest jew move ever in history of humanity
>>
>>110136306
>why doesn't google stop investing in it?
They're run by a jeet
>>
>>110136848
It's quite likely a combination of FOMO and miscommunication between the R&D for AI department, the "buying shit the company" department and the "keeping the company in the black" department and then the CEOs step in and they're like "buy more GPUs it increases the stock price, I don't know why but it does"
>>
>>110136687
>Apple still doesn't give a fuck lmao.
Because they can't. They're one of the few companies that actually follow the "we don't use your data we protect it" meme but that made data acquisition difficult for them. Google can simply train off of the internet because they have the best scrapers on planet Earth, plus whatever info that gets fed into Gemini or anyone that uses anti-gravity. Facebook blatantly torrented copyrighted data. Chinese companies distill. Etc etc. Apple couldn't really do anything to stand out because software really isn't their money maker. It's high quality hardware bundled with okay software. The price margins are already high enough that they didn't really need to hop on the AI hype train anyway. Furthermore if they accidentally made hard work that was both really good at inference for its price point, and competitive. They're "behind" in the eyes of brainless Bean counters but it doesn't matter at all. Their consumer base doesn't NEED ai or even one at that much anyway and the flop of muse is proof of that. Gemini only has a high user base because it got crowbar into every Android device and Chrome browser on Earth. Explain no means a shit model family but they would never have the market share they have now if they didn't basically force everyone to use it.

three, so the tranny porn can stay on its own lane

Google can actually afford to build their own AI infrastructure without circular investment. Google search AI snippets is probably the most used AI product in the world
>>
What if.. AI is genuinely useful and AI companies are investmaxxing to provide all the demand there is.
>>
>>110136306
Google is one of the only one who can possibly commoditize the tech.
They have their own GB200 equivalent RIGHT NOW and their previous generation they can relentlessly deploy across already existing datacenters.

This shit of getting loans and VC money to build DCs and just wholesale buy Nvidia crap was never going to last.

>>
>>110136306
It doesn't matter if it's bubble or not. These tech giants genuinely believe if they don't compete they will die. It's a life or death for them. The discussion and hype around AI is what's causing the bubble, these companies would've built data centers, kept investing in AI regardless
>>
Sunk cost fallacy and game theory.
When (if) LLM AIs become what they try to sell them as, they can't afford to not be in on it.

Think of it like a Cold War.
You are heavily investing into the military.
Why? Because your enemy also does.
Will it come to a war? Nobody actually knows.
But IF the hot war ever starts, you won't afford not to be armed.

You invest because your rivals invest because you invest.
Sooner or later the speculation will become certainty.
If AI fails, they you all fail.
If it doesn't they you can't afford to not invest into it.
So you all keep going, even if it ruins you.
At least this way there's the certainty of parity in the long run.

>Google search AI snippets is probably the most used AI product in the world
yeah but only because they put it there themselves. its not like anyone was begging for that AI snippet. and it's stupid af, it gets shit wrong all the time, and uses reddit posts, which are opinions, like they're accurate information. on top of all that, it's theft. yeah they provide a link to the websites they got the info from but most sheep are not going to click that link.

In fact all of fucking AI is theft because they used piracy and private information you need to pay for to train the models. it's just all round fucking disgusting.

This! And the only reason I use it is that the internet turned into an unsearchable hellscape to begin with. Everything is paywalled, on some stupid blog with a thousand ads buried on page 20 on the very search engine I'm using.

Nobody is buying products in enough of a volume to keep the lines going up on the stock prices. They've squeezed everywhere else they can to cut costs. And it's even worse because people are in fact buying less products because of many factors that then corps themselves created.
Trading investment money is the last way to get these stock lines to go up.

This is what late stage capitalism really is. The share price of a company is more important than the actual money a company spends or receives.

We are headed for a nice big hard crunch on every corporation that is publicly traded.
The only way to avoid this is to repeal that whole thing about having legal responsibility to the shareholders to always increase share value AND to stop allowing stock shares to be used as collateral in loans.

The investment is to try and keep it afloat long enough to become profitable, and in the event that it doesn't, use that investment as leverage to claim all the leftovers while begging the government for a bailout that they'll likely get since their stock valuation is tied to Americans retirement.
>>
>>110136306
Google isn't "investing" in AI. They are a competitor in the market. They're building their own infrastructure and model architecture unlike anthropic and openai. Regardless of what happens to anthropic or openai, Google will be a winner in the AI race after the market corrects
