this is the main thing I miss from windows. I had the old late 2000s version of movie maker installed on my windows 10 pc for years and used it often. I cant find anything on linux that is even close to being as easy to use or complete. I just need something where I can drop a video in, make some cuts and thats it. Im not a crazy video editor. Something like kdenlive feels way too overengineered for me

Filtered also try wine.

You don't seem to be in luck with the wine options. VirtualBox it? Maybe this is your opportunity to learn Davinci Resolve? Use their free version.

Kdenlive is pretty good, not as simple but it’s good

you know exactly what it does so tell claude to generate it

avidemux is easy to use for this, but it just cuts point a to point b. I think what you're after is something else? I mean... you could vibecode something maybe.

You can use Blender as a video editor

heck even photopea lol

kdenlive is probably your best bet for something relatively simple
>>

Does it work under Wine?

Shotcut used to be like this, but from what I see on google images it looks like it's a little more complicated nowadays. Worth a try.

Openshot is quite simple and easy to use.

Kdenlive might be better for more advanced editing.

Claude - here's a program i like please port it to linux thx

I know that it's frustrating to hear this, but you're going to have to get your hands dirty and be the change in the world you want to see
linuxfags almost never want to recreate something like this, and if they actually do get around to it they'll create an extremely opinionated version with bells and whistles you never asked for
I really sympathise with people like you because I want what you want, but I've learned the hard way that you have to do it yourself
I know you can do it if you put your mind to it
good luck

Avidemux is fast and easy to use, you can use it to cut without re-encoding.
