>Lisp is a family of programming languages with a long history and a distinctive parenthesized prefix notation. There are many dialects of Lisp, including Common Lisp, Scheme, Clojure and Elisp.>Emacs is an extensible, customizable, self-documenting free/libre text editor and computing environment, with a Lisp interpreter at its core.>Emacs Resourceshttps://gnu.org/s/emacshttps://github.com/emacs-tw/awesome-emacshttps://github.com/systemcrafters/crafted-emacs>Learning EmacsC-h t (Interactive Tutorial)https://emacs-config-generator.fly.devhttps://systemcrafters.net/emacs-from-scratchhttp://xahlee.info/emacshttps://emacs.tv>Browse imageboards in Emacs Org-Modehttps://github.com/eNotchy/4g>Emacs Distroshttps://github.com/caisah/emacs.dz>ElispDocs: C-h f [function] C-h v [variable] C-h k [keybinding] C-h m [mode] M-x ielm [REPL]https://gnu.org/s/emacs/manual/eintr.htmlhttps://gnu.org/s/emacs/manual/elisp.htmlhttps://github.com/emacs-tw/awesome-elisp>Common Lisphttps://almightylisp.comhttps://lispcookbook.github.io/cl-cookbookhttps://cs.cmu.edu/~dst/LispBookhttps://gigamonkeys.com/bookhttps://lisp-docs.github.iohttps://awesome-cl.com>Schemehttps://scheme.orghttps://standards.scheme.orghttps://go.scheme.org/awesomehttps://research.scheme.org/lambda-papers>Clojurehttps://clojure.orghttps://tryclojure.orghttps://clojure-doc.orghttps://clojure.landhttps://www.clojure-toolbox.comhttps://mooc.fi/courses/2014/clojurehttps://jafingerhut.github.io/cheatsheet/clojuredocs/cheatsheet-tiptip-cdocs-summary.html>Otherhttps://github.com/dundalek/awesome-lisp-languages>Guixhttps://guix.gnu.orghttps://nonguix.orghttps://systemcrafters.net/craft-your-system-with-guixhttps://futurile.net/resources/guixhttps://github.com/franzos/awesome-guix>SICP/HtDPhttps://web.mit.edu/6.001/6.037/sicp.pdfhttps://htdp.org>More Lisp Resourceshttps://lisp.nexushttps://rentry.org/lispresources(set! prev-bread >>110093138)

>Alan Bawden: Quasiquotation in Lisphttps://oneofus.la/have-emacs-will-hack/files/bawden.pdf
I have really lost the joy of programming in anything but Lisp. I can’t believe AI has sucked so much fun from my life but given nothing back.
>>110139201Really? It hasn’t affected me at all.You should just ignore it like I do.
Just got kicked off x11 by KDE and moved to wayland. I never knew about the emacs-wayland package in Arch but my emacs was super sluggish under XWayland until I replaced my installation with emacs-wayland
>>110139201I raw dogged some Lisp all day yesterday, it was great. The day before I played around like a kid in a candy store having the AI make me various bits of software and other things on demand to solve some issues or satisfy some cravings. Most of it also Lisp.Today I'm playing games. You can just max fun and stop being miserable.
Is there a way to make tramp less buggy in emacs? I periodically have to run M-x tramp-cleanup-this-connection or M-x tramp-cleanup-all-connections because it gets stuck. It also is slow as fuck on the connection setup (which is done for every async-shell-command etc.). Tramp is so fucking useful, but the implementation is lacking.
>>110139201The irony is that Lisp was originally designed as an AI programming language. John McCarthy, the turbogenius who invented LISP, also coined the term artificial intelligence. The irony is that everything that makes LLMs retarted and unreliable now is exactly what he was talking about. It's like they did things in the wrong order.
>>110139250You're a chad for this by the way.
>>110137258THIS talk is what made me fall in love with lisps.New Clojure alpha release notes, important feature + one usage of it, conditional inlining:Clojure function definitions can take metadata in the form of a literal hash map.One key in its API is :inline, which is a function that operates on the call site like a macro does. The new feature is if the inline function returns nil and not a form, the inline result is discarded.First use case:unroll (get-in m [x y z]) to (-> m (get x) (get y) (get z))https://clojure.org/news/2026/10/22/clojure-1-13-alpha10
>>110139201I have no usecase for AI to be bothered If I'm looking for a certain function, I've found skimming through the standard to be rather faster than prompting jeepeetee
>>110137443He should have showed off the built-in data inspector, because it's useful and cool. Not a lot of REPLs give you something like that.
