Wrong. Huh? Open models are catching up fast. Local is on the edge of irrelevance.
What the fuck kind of model can you run locally? gemma dense and qwen 3.8 are marginally useful at best and already need 2x 16gb vram to run at a semi reasonable speed. Large MoE models were a solid alternative (assuming you were exceedingly patient) but now even 256 gb ram doesn't let you run the current deepseek flash.
Local is catching up fast if you can afford 200+ gb vram or 512gb+ unified memory / octa-channel ddr5

They are either holding Fable for sometime within a week of the IPO or are assuming OpenAI is about to drop something on the last day of the Tibo reset extravagance and are aiming to cuck them with dropping Fable 5.5 right after, or realise they need to improve it before releasing it, depending how good the openAI release is.
(Or Fable 5.5 is total ass and they are panic fixing it still)
>>
>>110143848
Not even close. This is gives credence for OpenAI and Anthropic to "pace the frontier" again and release the better internal models they have had for a month or two they have held back on. I'm pretty sure Anthropic will go first with Fable 5.5 before we get Astra 6.1 from OpenAI.
>>
fable 5.5 will be goated. astra 6.1 will be slightly better than opus 5.5 while being way more expensive, thus, making it not worth it. the successor to 6.1 sol will tell the true story. 6.1 terra will be nothing more than what luna should have been

To be expected. I don't doubt Kimi K3.1 Pro will be the most pozzed model we have ever seen. It is so obvious Moonshot was going "le safety way" post-2.5. It was already a PITA to interact with K3, now K3.1 will refuse 90% of the shit you ask it to do + will be severely retarded for anything RE-related. In one experiment, we asked agents in separate VMs, created and managed by OpenAI’s sandboxing software on shared host machines, to exchange synthetic secrets without the use of network connections or shared writable files—something that our systems are meant to prevent. The agents found a way to communicate using the processor’s cache: a small, fast memory that holds copies of data that applications have recently accessed. Reading data from the cache is faster than retrieving it from main memory, and the agents used this timing difference to communicate. One agent encoded information by evicting selected data from the cache. Another timed how long it took to reload that data, using the difference between fast and slow reads to recover the message. Once the agents agreed on a protocol for encoding and decoding these signals, they could exchange the synthetic secrets without changing a shared file or opening a network connection. This cache-timing technique had also been used to extract information in the Spectre and Meltdown attacks(opens in a new window).

but I figured it out pretty quickly

If you're gonna spend, it's better to drop 20 on either GPT/Claude right now. Also OpenRouter is more expensive than paying for deepseek directly from either the chinese or the bulk API resellers

What are the limits on opencode free? I've been using deepseek for literally hours on max and still not hit a limit

pretty new. like a couple days. i already made 3 apps though. need to finish debugging.
multi model is mainly to get around the free limits. ive started looking into it since i ran out of free opencode limits today, so i though splitting would be decent. even with the free openrouter 50 calls per day i can use plan mode pretty well i think...

also chart is mainly to figure out what i can use for a backup, but im planning to use deepseek 4.1 opencode as the coder either way (already did the 3 apps with it so i like it, other than the context is only 200k so it compresses all the time, so maybe using a planner with a bigger context and from a different provider makes sense, so i can save on free usage?)

I think they're trying to capture more of the "Bigger number = better risk number go up" market. They're doubling down on not giving a shit about efficiency because deep seek kind of already has that market cornered. the biggest question is “what else would you do with your time”
the case _for_ learning to code, which I don’t find particularly persuasive because it doesn’t say anything about “what else would you do with your time”: https://htmx.org/essays/yes-and/
>>
opencode being so slow last 24h, it's so over
>>
>>110145669
It's not if you're wanting to learn it for practical reasons. You will never be able to earn money from coding if you start learning right now.

Anyone who says otherwise is deluded- there is already a massive glut of underemployed programmers with decades of experience in every subfield, and AI gets better every month.

No one gives a shit except rent-seeking vermin. Training was already deemed fair use. What got meta in trouble was HOW said data was acquired by them. And drop it is getting around it by buying physical books, scanning them, and then destroying them afterwards because according to the West's gay copyright laws, it's okay as long as you aren't making duplicates. Destroyed the original Source equals no duplicate according to the letter of the law (and as usual normal niggers don't know this in just assume they're destroying the books because haha evil company)

>Confirmed the stock WebGL route works in Chrome at frame 1500—the P4 ramp, background, and colors are exact, and the earlier “alpha arrives as 0” result was just an artifact of dumping too early at frame 300. The P2/P3 failures match the WebGPU results exactly, so they’re a headless layout offset, not an alpha issue;

Alpha does arrive. The depth codes come through bit-exact through the WebGPU path with the new knob, and also through plain stock Chrome 156 with WebGL. This overturns the 10/23 verdict that the alpha route was dead: every zero we ever saw came from a dump about 4 s into the session.

Why it read 0:

READ: For the first 10 s of every session on Windows, Chrome draws an in-headset “indicators” overlay onto the swapchain image. That overlay’s blend sets the image’s alpha to its own, which is 0 where it is transparent, while RGB survives.
MEASURED: With the same setup, the dump at frame 300 (about 4 s) was all 0 and the dump at frame 1500 (about 21 s) was all 255. All 10/23 dumps were at frame 300.
INFERENCE, high: this overlay is the loss. Not measured: the exact switch time (READ says 10 s) and whether a second session gets 10 s or 5 s.

blud got nerfed, huh? well at least he still gets the job done, thoughbeit it took 2 hours and 2 gorillion dario goodboy points.

It just helps me separate and manage concerns a little better: client, server, observability (Grafana, etc), reader, website (the project’s landing page), and docs. There’s also one repo that brings all the other repositories together via submodules and includes all the tools to bootstrap local development, manage releases, etc. Some of the things are not tied to a client's version and are deployed separately. The whole thing started out as a normal project, and I just wanted to compartmentalize it better.

It's less about coding not being fashionable or desirable in the current day, and more of a sober look at the facts. Vibe coding has already overtaken 95% of professional programming, and now the conversation in the corporate world is around the decision of whether engineers should still be reading the code they vibe, or whether it should all be left to the LLMs and evals/testbenches. There is no large American company left that has significant numbers of employees manually writing code. And even if you wanted to get into a niche language, by the time you're hireable for it, one of the labs will have RL'd a model on that niche. And in the remote chance that this hasn't happened to your niche, there will be much more experienced engineers who've been displaced and are looking to fill that position. A couple of months ago, it was more speculative whether or not AI would actually be able to replace manual coding, but that is no longer a question.

You can like this change or hate it, but don't listen to people who insist that it isn't happening. We passed the point where that was a possibility about two months ago.

I'd like to start with Vibe Coding / Agentic Coding on the Apple platform macOS.
Aside from needing X-Code i know that it can integrate accounts from different AI's to write code and to crosscheck with another one to find errors.
How good is for example Anthropics Claude Code in Swift compared to let's say Python?

I assume that most people use Python instead of Swift for programming. Is Claude code better trained on Python because of this?

The main background to Swift coding is i need the program to function with a UI but also function with VoiceOver for visually impaired and totally blind people.
Swift has native and a much better support for VoiceOver (Apples own Screenreader) than for Python under macOS.

Is there an AI provider that is especially good with Swift?

We have 2.6B - 4B models that are as good as GPT 4. At the very least that means nobody should be paying for github copilot anymore.

Have you been to California?
Huge flawless roads, big shiny high-tech cars, perfect weather, extreme rent, and amazing jobs.
Didn't see how the poor people were doing but the bay area was wealthy. New Yorkers have to see poor people, Californiens don't.

why does kimi larp as anthropic so much
chinese labs shouldn't even bother chasing the frontier, i'd rather sub to claude for that. they should focus on efficient models like deepseek instead

That's most Chinese brands. They are always copying someone from the West.

spend countless hours building and testing vibe coded firmware update for Sp-404. Add many requested featureds. forget to test something. user hurts ears and yells at me on reddit. said sorry and then they blocked me.

>The Roland SP-404MKII is a portable creative sampler and effector designed for beatmaking, live performance, and sound design, typically priced around $499.99 to $559.73 USD.
So what, a sound was louder than it was supposed to be and he was wearing headphones?

First they posted: "How come you don’t make videos demonstrating your mods? That would make it feel more legit than just saying “hey I made this, check it out”

then

"Hey you really need to quit being an irresponsible dev and demo your shit. A disclaimer like “some of the sounds can get loud” isn’t enough. The C1 compressor mode or whatever almost blew my fucking ears off." I guess they got their demo lol

unironically curious now if i can get opus to mod xiao qiao's dynasty warriors 6 outfit into dynasty warriors 5.

It could always do that. User knowledge and prompt issue if you didnt manage to do it. replicating and creating from scratch off reference is sometimes better than rip and port.

They really, literally nerf previous models when a new one releases so a 5% improvement feels like a 50% one huh?
Scummy scam behavior

Thanks for the reply anon.
I will get a new macMini next month and start with the project then.
Wanted to go for this project since half a year or so but never really took action since i had a lot to do.
During winter i will have a lot more time doing it.
It is about a metadata program for both audio and video files.
