yes, if you want to deliberately eat shit and smear shit into your eyes while you use a pc, sure, buy a 60hz monitor or set it to 60hz, there's no problem with that.
>>
>>110150008
on lcd displays, you'd generally want to avoid running 60hz on a 120hz native display since the display overdrive is tuned for 120hz and starts ghosting at lower hz

for me the mouse options rely on whatever wireless mouse that goes on 70% off sale for some reason

Other than that Id prioritize decent enough battery life, optical switches and screw holes not hidden by glued on pads
>>
>>110150782
on a positive note, all rdna2-rdna3 gpus finally have a modern, usable upscaler in case your gpu dies and you need a usable one in a limited budget
>>
>>110150805
if you would have considered this budget blowing all this money I would say buy a cost effective prebuilt with a 5090 instead if they still exist
since it would literally cost the same/less and have better perf
>>
>>110150822
That occurred to me initially. The cheapest 5090 pre-built at Microcenter here would've run me about $1500 more than this cart of stuff I got, with all non-GPU parts being inferior.
>>
Yeah getting microscratches on a QD-OLED screen is literally unavoidable I think. Maybe if you buy a vinyl brush and a stack of 1,000 microfiber cloths and then throw one away immediately after using it, but I did 90% of that and I still got microscratches. Just don't use a QD-OLED screen anywhere where natural light can reach it and you'll be fine, I guess.
>>
>>110150899
QD in QDOLED stands for quickly gets damaged
>>
>>110150935
It's a shame because most of the scratches are completely invisible so long as the room surrounding it is dark, so it's still a pretty good experience, I just hate having to fiddle with the blinds when the sun hits the windows at the exact right angle. I'm just gonna have to start budgeting out for microfiber cloths otherwise.
>>
>>110150814
limited budget I don't even own a desktop..

>>110150872
in europe just recently 9850x3d/64gb/2tb nvme/5090 with good parts could be had for 6k USD
but that was a while ago now they have degraded ram to like half and what not and increased price
considering 5090s are going for the same price it's still even worth it

>>110150899
the new blackedshiled film should be alot better in hardness too
but stop rubbing mineralized water and dust along your display and you should be fine
it's not that serious
but other than that you should avoid cleaning it as much as possible but it's also impossilbe since spit and smudges reflect way more on a glossy display than a matte, which is why you might wanna get a matte, maybe
so just buy a S99H tv and be happy (S95H in NA)
>>
>he still hasnt taken the mac mini pill
you have been left behind
>>
>>110150958
I AM using distilled water and I AM using a vinyl brush to dust off the screens before wiping them down. The only thing I did wrong was reuse a microfiber cloth but even then I don't think that was all of the issue. Either way, they don't appear in darkness, so maybe light-control is still the way to go with these things.

So, is there any point in upgrading? Will waiting for the next gen stuff even be worth it? My PC is 7 years old so I am already hanging onto old hardware.
>>
AR coatings are somehow even worse. But I do need them on my glasses. However, I got visible scratches that appear on my AR-coated monitor from 1pm-3pm, and the sunlight isn't even directly shining on the monitor, it's reflecting off the wall into it. Fixable by just closing the blinds but basically defeats the purpose of having an AR coating.

I'm upgrading while keeping my 6 drives and GPU, but I had so much trouble compared to when I upgraded back in 2019 that it doesn't feel worth it.
Every single case advertises itself as being able to hold at least x HDDs and y SATA SSDs, but then you go into the manual and find out you have to choose between either of the two. Every single affordable case does this garbage, and I'm not going to pay more for something basic that every ATX case should have.
My PSU only has slots for 5 drives, and my mobo has only 4 SATA ports, but I will take the blame for being a retard there.
And to make things worse, I managed to break the front glass panel of the case I just bought, so in the end I'm just going to reuse my old case, since it gets the job done.
Back when I upgraded in 2019, things just worked™ and for a fair price. Now it feels like I have to pay premium for basic shit.

>NVIDIA has released RTX Remix 1.6, allowing modders to integrate DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering into older PC games. Until now, DLSS 5 support has largely depended on official game integrations or unofficial modifications (which we know are available in nearly everything now). But in terms of semi-official support, we now have the latest RTX Remix update.
>NVIDIA has demonstrated the new integration in two community projects. Sparkles/Kim2091 used DLSS 5 in the Fallout 4 RTX project, improving reflections on armor, material detail and shadowing. SoftSoundd also demonstrated DLSS 5 in Mirror’s Edge RTX, showing changes to contact shadows, ambient occlusion and lighting.

Nobody wants to answer because it's a lazy and the wrong and corporations cucks so in 50 differents ways it's hard to answer. If you want bang for buck for a whole system this isn't the time to buy, and nobody is keeping an eye on this month to month just to answer when cuckmachine#11 is a slightly better buy.

If it's just for work and study. Use linux and buy a used machine for 200. There I just saved you 2000 bucks amigo.

Personally, I would look up whether people has been able to do non thunder bolt EGPU setups with it. I would not get one with a dedicated GPU. I would get something repairable (has EU repair rating come out yet?), meaning plenty of screws. I would get something with non-soldered RAM if that still exist. I would look up hardware locks and see if that is something that might cuck u at some point, meaing I would look into linux dedicated vendors. I would get a CPU designed for plenty of I/O if that exist and plenty of ports. I would look up the battery and see if it has lock down cuckery, a long with ability to 20-80 battery preservation.

People are straight up brainwashed. What YOU need nobody knows but YOU. The prices will come down, but it take years. At which point you'll get more for less and local AI will demand less. For corporations to prevent that we are looking at a dystopian hellhole of a future. If that happens you are better off prepping or investing with your money.

Handbrake is telling me I have 9 full days left of encoding with CPU only at 100%. Nvidia NVEC looks like shit unless I up the bit rate to insane levels so the file is massive anyways. Quicksync is similar. So pure software CPU encoding is the only way which takes a while even with 8c16t. I have a couple old machines worth of tech I could throw together as dedicated encoding machines. Worth doing even if they're old? The old systems would be a ryzen R7-1800X and GT1030. Second system would be an i7-5775C and GT710

use https://www.eloshapes.com/ and filter to your liking. If you can't stand double clicking make sure to have non-mechanical switches or alternatively hotswap switches but those are rare. If you don't like scroll wheel jumping check for non-mechanical encoders. Mice that have both are rather limited especially if you don't want one from a major brand. Most modern mice are wireless but sometimes with optional wired and lightweight.

OLED burns in (particularly bad for PC monitors) and cannot handle high full-screen brightness, also has better motion quality
Mini-LED doesn't burn in, can go very bright full-screen but will display haloing in some scenes and also have worse motion clarity

Basically both come with what I'd consider major disadvantages. OLED is more suited to TVs where you're likely to just watch full-screen videos rather than having UIs full of static elements up for hours at a time, the burn-in issue isn't as severe there. There is no actually good monitor technology, we can hope micro-LED will become reality at some point, feels like it's one of those technologies that's eternally 10 years away from hitting the market.

it's more about any savings at all as opposed to absolutely maximum savings. Not only that but I don't new enough hardware to able to play back AV1 on my living room PC connected to my TV for instance. The living room PC is an old 2c4t Pentium G5400 passively cooled, paired with an also passively cooled EVGA GT1030 2GB GDDR5 model. For instance I encoded using h.265 with RF22 and was able to get an 88GB 4K rip down to 27GB and I personally cannot tell the difference during playback. Using AAC audio with a stereo mixdown because I only have a single forward facing soundbar with sub.

I would like to max stuff out since I'm still using a 1080ti. It'd only be in 1080p though since those are monitors I have.

>1080Ti to 5080
Same, brother.
It was worth it (But I got mine a bit ago when they were cheaper.)

GPUs last a while. There's nothing to say you're gonna be using 100% of your GPU 100% of the time, but you're going to play at least some demanding games in the next like 5 years or whatever.

When I started to run into stuff like STALKER 2 and Space Marine 2 that I couldn't run without low setting and upscaling, I decided it was time to retire the 1080Ti. I could have kept using it, and I probably would have been content for at least a year or so more, and that's absolutely a viable option if you wanna do that. But, when I found that I stopped trying new games because I felt I was saving them for when I had a better PC, I decided to take the plunge and do that.

Yes, but then there is futureproofing. All GPUs are overpriced right now. You can literally be happy on 15 years old GPUs. It just depends on your taste and needs.

I think one of the smarter futureproofing routes right now is to consider an IGPU system, then do whatever you can to boost that. Just get RAM and run it in gear 1, doesn't need to be expensive. The only thing ur sort of losing on is the system RAM, the rest is not that bad pricewise especially PSUs. Then if there is an absolute need, get a used or "bad" GPU that gets you over the finishing line. Maybe even considering lossless scaling steam app.

Thing is you probably want to skip zen 6 due to silicone going to NPU, plus GPU it's going to be a very long wait.

buying a 5070 Ti and using upscaling OR coping until 2028 for the 6090 seems to be the play, or even better buy a prebuilt 5090 for the cost of one 5090 singular on the market which is a better value
but first, always max out your display
>>
>>110159360
S99H and RTX 5090 will be "literally unusable" in 2028 and you'll be telling us all to replace them with the new FOTM. Future proofing is a meme. I learned that back when I "invested" in X99, then found out upgrading from 5820k was a retarded idea because the motherboard was already obsolete by the time 6950x came out.

I didn't call it futureproofing
>>
>>110159882
No, it's a home theater set up. Second monitors are good for keeping live feeds of whatever. When I see people with overhead monitors it's usually stock trader that can monitor the screens away from their desks. They don't really use the second monitors for work. I wouldn't want to crank my head upwards just to peak at anything and I suspect they just glance at it from across the room when they're working. They always have whatever stock or index they're monitoring blown up to fullscreen presumably to make it easier to see from far away or to notice in they're peripheral vision when a drastic change happens.

Having a second monitor comes in handy when you need to copy and paste multiple things aswell. Having multiple programs and windows and text editors open that can all be full screen and still being able to drag/drop, copy/cut/paste without minimizing a window or putting it in half the screen is handy.

upgrading to something deprecated is already too slow
>>
>>110159498
>and you'll be telling us all to replace them with the new FOTM
one more thing, if you buy 4k 360 in the beginning of '27 you are also set for life(tm) for the foreseeable future(tm) and wont fall behind(tm)
this will be literal endgame for a very long time, you might MIGHT get 4k 480 after a while after that, that will take a while but we are essentially already maxing out dp2.1 and adoption hasn't even gotten out

32" 4k 360hz + 165-240hz tv is good enough to serve your all around needs for the coming 5-10 years literally, there is nothing to fomo about if you own this setup, it's literally over
displays are solved for a long while

4k 32" 360hz triple mode is equivalent of releasing a 1080 Ti (a mistake for them)
there is nothing to sandbag from there, it's quite litearlly over
TVs are still sandbagging 240hz 4k, after they release that it won't be much else to release either
It will be true native 4k 240 too so no janky processing and fuck up overclocking so it will actually work

if you are not on 32" 4k 360hz tri mode + 55-77" QDOLED by 2027 it's over, calling it right now

Probably the best choice. Definitely look into how you're going to get ahold of a new socket upgrade in the distant future though.
