Most people look better with glasses. If you don't, then maybe you haven't found the right glasses for your face.
I wouldn't do it, I love my glasses.
Lasik has common side effects, like not being able to see well in the dark anymore, and many others.

Sounds like cope but those who tinker and build shit know what I mean.
So many times shit flew towards my face and hit my glasses and every time I was glad I wear them.

Sure, because you ALWAYS put them on for the smallest fucking shit, right?
It's just like having a cheap uv filter on your camera all the time. It's just a neat safety feature on top of vision aid.

As I said
>the right glasses for your face
the "right glasses" depend on what face shape you have and other face features. Glasses that look good on one person don't necessarily look good on others.
But sure, here are mine.
The ones with the thin frame are computer glasses for near vision. They're thin so they're as lightweight as possible and I can wear them all day. I can also wear over ear headphones with them on, they don't get in the way at all and I forget I'm even wearing them.
The ones with the thicker frames are for far vision (when I go outside) and for driving. They have a fake turtle shell and I think it adds a nice touch to them. I also like the 45 degree angle on the corners where the handles connect to the glass.
>>110170167
You could, but then you might as well not get the lasik operation. Also people with glasses can tell when you wear fake glasses because they have zero refraction in their glass.

There is a new procedure that you can get if you are young enough
It is surface level only. they do not cut into your eye, it is just the laser that scratches off your sclera
But keep in mind that as horrible as lasik looks, it hurts significantly less than the surface one (after the surgery)

This is only a problem with LASIK, if you do the surface surgery, it heals by itself and photophobia is not a long term issue

>>
>>110169844
You only get that if you get infected. If you follow the rules strictly, you will be healed after a month and after a week you will not feel any pain.
And that is serious btw. No water must get in your eye. You must never wash your face or hair. Always wear sunglasses outside, not only because of sun, but because of the wind also. If it rains, do not go outside. Take the eye medication as prescribed, do not take less drops. Do not do any physical activity or lift heavy things for a month. Do not use a phone or a computer for the first week.
Do not touch your eyes with your hand, even if they hurt or itch, use hydration drops. If your eyelash falls into the eye, get it out with hydration drops, not water or hand.
>>
>>110170556
SMILE does not make sense unless your eyesight diopters is less than -6 or if you are old. Does not make sense otherwise. Younger people are best to get PRK as it fully heals your eye using the eye's natural functionality

>>
I got it and it's fine. Just make sure your prescription is not changing much anymore. It takes a week or so to heal and then you see pretty much crystal-clear, better than any pair of glasses.

>>110170114
There's a bit of haloing with bright lights but not nearly to this extent, and seems to have reduced over time. Oddly enough the haloing is rectangular instead of radial like this webm because the laser incision they make is horizontal.

Honestly the biggest downside is now that I can see the inside of my shower, I notice how dirty the tile and soap scum get so I go to clean it and shave years off my life by nuking my lungs with bleach fumes.

It's not different cause none of those are things normal guys should wear
>>
>>110169666
too much close up time causes myopia, there is nothing more to it really.
>>
>>110170828
If this was the case then your eyesight would be adjusting to the close up time thing you focus on. But it goes past it so you need correction.
>>
>>110170852
You wearing glasses for closeup is what makes your myopia worse. There really is no more to it. Looking close strains your eye, enough strain and your eye starts getting eggsy instead of ballsy in order to relieve some of that strain. Myopia epidemic is a modern thing, and the only thing that has changed is close up time skyrocketing world wide. Smart phones are the worst offender, if you give your kid one you are effectively giving them myopia.
>>
>>110169537
Don't you easily get dry and irritated eyes afterwards? Plus other risks from the procedure. Unless it's the only way to be able to see idk if it's worth it. I also need glasses but i only use them when i have to read from a slight distance, it's too annoying to walk around with them. You don't feel as free.
>>
>>110170908
glasses kill your peripheral vision and make you feel vulnerable, moving your eyeballs enough is important

why does med tech advance at snail pace

>LASIK
I had my eyes done around 10-15 years ago, havent worn any glasses since then and I havent experienced any long-term issues at all. The machine stops if you move your eye anywhere, so you dont have to worry about the operation going wrong from you moving your eyes in any unexpected way. Would recommend.
>>
>>110170228
>The ones with the thin frame are computer glasses for near vision. They're thin so they're as lightweight as possible and I can wear them all day. I can also wear over ear headphones with them on, they don't get in the way at all and I forget I'm even wearing them.
same here kek, good taste
>>
>>110169537
I’m waiting for the tech to improve it sounds barbaric as fuck to cut a flap in the cornea lmao caveman zugzug shit
>>
>>110171021
The operation can go wrong, you just won't go blind. But if they cut too deep for example, or cut into some soft tissue, then your eye never fully heals and will itch uncomfortably forever (or until corrective surgery is performed, but then they need to cut into your eye by hand)
>>
>>110170908
>Don't you easily get dry and irritated eyes afterwards? Plus other risks from the procedure.
Only in the short term. I dont recall how long, but I do remember I had to use drops to keep my eyes from going too dry. Shouldnt be longer than a few weeks after the operation.
>>
>>110170908
>Don't you easily get dry and irritated eyes afterwards?
For the first week in PRK, if you follow the instructions. First three days are the worst
>>
>>110169537
Nigga, get Relex Smile instead
>>
>>110170908
I only got dry eye for a few weeks after the procedure. It went away and I haven't used eye drops since. I think a big part of the reported issue after healing is unrelated to the procedure and just the fact there's no longer a physical object in front of your eye to inhibit the dust and evaporation which cause irritation even in people with uncorrected vision.

>it's too annoying to walk around
So you understand why one might opt to eliminate their dependence on glasses.

>>110171049
It's all computerized. A suction cup thing holds your eye in place. A robot measures and cuts the flap. A robot micropulses the laser in the exact spots identified from the earlier scan. The only thing the surgeon does is irrigate and move the flap. The risks are so much lower than almost every other medical procedure they might as well be non-existent.

Also another awesome benefit is being able to wear regular fucking sunglasses instead of having to special order everything with a prescription.

LASIK is risky. Some people end up in so much pain due to it that they kill themselves, and there's no way to tell beforehand if you're gonna get lucky or not.

Eye surgery works by lasering away parts of your eyes to modify the path of the incoming light and have it focus correctly in the back of your eyes. Problem is that your vision will change with years (may get worse, may get better, etc), and you can only get so many additional corrective surgeries because eventually too much of your eye will be lasered away, there'll be nothing remaining to work with. So you'll end up using glasses some time later anyway.
>>
>>110169537
I did it a decade ago. Never had any issues, but my vision got slightly worse since then, not enough to need to wear glasses again but enough to no longer feel the wow effect of the first few months where I could read very small texts from a long distance.
