https://www.cnbc.com/2026/10/26/microsoft-msft-voluntary-buyouts.htmlIts OGRE!!!!
two more weeks
>Microsoftsaid Monday that it’s offering buyouts to a wide swath of employees as it strives to balance a costly artificial intelligence infrastructure build-out with capital efficiency.>The software maker announced a new voluntary exit offer for certain workers in the U.S., Canada, India and the United Kingdom at its experience level of 70 or below.>Around 60,000 people are eligible, according to a person familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named while discussing an internal matter. The effort affects about 27% of Microsoft’s total workforce of 223,000 people.
>>110169869>60k americans leave>they hire 80k indians two weeks lateryou know the plan
>>110169897Its 60K globally not just americans.I doubt they are gonna hire back 60K anytime soon
>>110169869>sales and marketing employees are excluded
>>110169985It's to save money for AI CAPEX bullshit. Those roles aren't coming back, or they're going to be shitty Copilot agents if they do.
>>110169869autistic tech faggots did it to themselves. stop automating yourself out of a job.
>>110170119There is no choice, its like a mob boss asking to dig your own grave. What are you gonna do not dig?
>>110169869Zitronbros…I thought AI couldn’t replace anyone.
>>110170133you're nigger cattle.
>>110169869The OP image is obsolete news, microsoft is apparently offering voluntary buyout to around 50% of its US workforce
>>110169869Holy fuck SIXTY THOUSAND??????Learn to code they said. Jfc. Glad I was smart/dumb enough to ignore that but goddamn that’s brutal. It’s open to anyone straight up not in the C-Suite or a technical fellow. Wild
>>110170253>Holy fuck SIXTY THOUSAND??????Its voluntary not everyone has to accept it.
>>110170264>Its voluntaryHardly, the only reason a company offers these kinds of packages is when they are changing the conditions of your employment, basically they've already told their employees their job as they know it won't exist very soon and unless they can meet higher performance indicators moving forward they will be fired for cause rather than laid off.
>>110170355A little bird who knows someone working in microsoft told me that they have shortlisted people based on their performance that doesn't match their pay. People shortlisted are given a choice to either take the voluntary buyout or risk getting PIP'd and kicked out with a worse severance package
>>110170264>>110170355>>110170395Here's how these things work:>company decides they need to save money>headcount is always the most expensive thing they pay for>we want to reduce headcount, so we'll start with voluntary layoffs that might be cheaper, net, than doing layoffs (the reason the company does this first is because it might save them the most cash)>if they don't hit their voluntary layoff targets, they start "encouraging" people to quit with shit like forced RTO, reorganizations, reassignments, and other things>and if those two don't get the desired results, then they go to straight layoffst. techanon that works in Seattle and has survived most of the layoffs
so far
>>110170119I'll never stop automating away my job and everyone else's. I do however do it by deterministic means and not by AI slop.
>>110170419>
so far
you should get fired from 4chan
>>110170133>What are you gonna do not dig?Why would you?
>>110170419forced PIP quotas started way back when I worked at MSFT as well
>>110170593the alternative is get shot immediately
>>110170587Fuck I can never remember which boards do spoiler text. I'll fill out a bunch of Jira tickets as an act of contrition anon, sorry.>>110170617PIP quotas and stack ranking came into vogue around a decade ago, IIRC. It's no coincidence that the rise of h1bs who love the idea of numerically ranking each other also started getting bad around the same time.
>>110170395>they have shortlisted people based on their performance that doesn't match their payI'm sure they will fire some unproductive people but considering how bad both managers and companies as a whole are at judging productivity for pretty much anyone but especially white collar workers I'm pretty sure they will fire lot of critical people and let many complete leeches stay.
>>110170658>I'm pretty sure they will fire lot of critical people and let many complete leeches stay. This happens all the time especially when the leeches can sway the decision makers who are usually bean countersI almost got laid off despite being in 2 projects and of them directly was around Payroll which gave me a false sense of security that they wouldn't be stupid to remove headcount from something so critical. The bean counters took notice that there was not much work in Payroll for the last quarter and decided to remove all roles. The other project I sorta expected to be winding down soon enough anyway.I raised issue with the PM of the Payroll project and he was like this sucks especially considering any critical item could pop up unannounced but higher ups are gonna take decision purely based on numbers. I had a good rapport with PM of the other project and he was able to put me in Project #3 at the last minute before I was fully out. Now these motherfuckers expect me to work in all 3 projects and I get fucked sideways when any global change impacts all 3 projects at the same time

>>110170773>learn to plumbI learned to clean the pipes with your mom
>>110170813It's AI. It's coming for techbros first, but every other whitecollar wagie is going to feel it very soon.
>>110170836Its gonna take a few years at least for it to start impacting other white collar jobs
>>110169869Can you imagine how shitty Windows 12 is gonna be?
>>110170934I was thinking about that earlier, and I concluded they'll go with something other than a numerical name to distance it from the Bad Poop that is 11.
>>110170836it's top down. hope board of directors figure out AI makes for better CEOs as well. Zucc is scared shitlesshttps://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2026/10/26/zuckerberg-can-control-meta-after-death-he-refused-give-up-that-power/
>>110170846>Its gonna take a few years at least for it to start impacting other white collar jobswhen it does it's Armageddon though, white collars are the ones paying for goods and services provided by blue collar people, it's going to be a self-sustaining doom loop like in Great Depression, even K-shaped economy won't survive this
>>110170934AI will make it werk
>>110170975It will be goodbye capitalism, hello techno feudalism

>H1b effectively ends on Nov. 1st for MS>MS under investigation for H1b fraud, a CRIMINAL act>suddenly, half of MS employees are "free to go!"Hahahahahahaha negative TEN TRILLION IZZAT! IZZAT HAS NOT BEEN SO LOW SINCE THE LAST TIME INDIA WAS CONQUERED!
>>110169897>The Trump administration is suspending Microsoft and some other companies from seeking permanent residency for foreign workers hired through the H-1B visa program, accusing them of taking advantage of the process so that they could replace American citizens with cheaper labor from abroad.>Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that the tech giant is one of a handful of companies to be barred indefinitely from the Labor Department’s PERM program following an investigation spearheaded by the anti-fraud task force that he chairs.>That probe determined that Microsoft laid off roughly 6,000 American workers last year, while at the same time employing 6,300 non-citizens that it had brought to the US by obtaining H-1B visas for them.https://edition.cnn.com/2026/10/08/politics/vance-fraud-microsoft-immigrant>60k americans leave>they hire 80k indians two weeks later>you know the plando you know how to read or do you get your news from social media
>>110171333But the layoffs are global and it will impact 30% of global workforce
>>110171524The percentage of Indians working for Microslop will increase. Do you disagree?
>>110171411Cute. Did you forget how outsourcing works? They can hire 80k indians no problem. They'll just be ones still living in india.
>>110170587Use case for blocking formatting tags on specific boards?>>110170813It's terminal. Ever since Dodge Bros vs Ford wrote into law that all corporations are legally mandated to make perpetually increasing profits no matter the cost, everything has been offshored and ruined specifically to reach that impossible goal.
>>110169869They want the employees to retire so they don't have to pay unemployment when the inevitably layoff those employees.
I work at Microsoft, I don't believe the 60k number, nothing indicates that. I think they just added up the potentially affected teams and assumed 100% of people on those teams were offered this
>>110171623>I work at Microsoft and nothing indicates the 60k numberThis just means you aren't senior or important enough to really know what's going on. Incidentally, you're probably one of those 60k, so make sure you post the details of your voluntary resignation offer so anons can see the deets.
>>110171553>The percentage of Indians working for Microslop will increase. Do you disagree?Yes, this is especially considering the white house reprimanded Microsoft for h1b fraud
>>110171634Sure, the details of my offer are>You do not have a Voluntary Exit Offer (VEO). For information on the VEO, please visit aka.ms/VEOemployee
>>110171623Maybe Microsoft actually wants to layoff like 10-15K and they are gonna do it from the pool of 60K shortlisted
>>110169897pool's closed
>>110171169>QRDthiel is a famously gay VC who offers this for young people https://thielfellowship.org/, it's commonly accepted that he fucked, among others, sam altman
>>110171664>Revenue seperated from headcount in mid 2022So was copilot really good back then and I missed it? Or is this Azure landlord rents?
>>110171702Copilot is doing so well I've been seeing a big increase in forced Copilot shilling from other MS programs like Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. That's how you know they're happy with the numbers; shilling to a captive audience.
>>110171702azure i believeyou saw covid overhiring, then a plateau, and now you're finally seeing the ai layoffs actually startingimo this 60k is a direct result of agents starting to work
>>110171736Is it agents, or is it a mature SaaS platform that (for a time) returns continous revenue with less and less modifications to it's code base? And how does a rube like me know the difference?
>>110171623>>110171650And here we go, trying to save izzat...
>>110171749it's the agents imo because cloud ai work is arguably in its infancy, very, very far from maturethe productivity gains from agents are very real in certain domains and those gain don't 1:1 lead to increased growthso your workforce can now produce 2-5x more work but you're not seeing 2-5x growth - how do you take advantage of this? reduce costs by firing people because tokens are cheaper than salaries
>>110169869thy just fired all jeets. thanks claude
>>110171780KekSpotted the jobless nocoder
>>110171985remember this post before you pull the trigger, anon
