Are you actually using LLMs seriously or is most of this just bait? I mean I can understand wagies who are forced to use it promoting it so they don't feel bad about themselves but seriously was /g/ always this low IQ?Haven't been around here in a while, prolly since the days when Suckless / anti-bloat movement was still popular
>>110179578>was /g/ always this low IQYes. AI boom just made the answer even more obvious. This board is unsalvageable.
>>110179578Option 1: 20 hours to write some bullshit feature yourself.Option 2: 1 hour to make Claude do it and just manually review. When I weigh up these options, I lose motivation to write the stuff myself. A lot of code is repetitive mundane copy paste jobs in 1000 files.
>>110179599any code you write has already been written 7000 times over the past 30 years so it's really just mental masturbation at this point to do it by hand
the largest IPO in history is just a meme, yeahbe ready to short it anon, then post results
>>110179578Its faster than you>but Im smarterYes. But its still faster than you
>>110179578its a tool, no more no less
>>110179609You could say that about everything you do in life.
LLMs are a tool. If you're not using that tool to it's full potential you're just stupid.
>>110179599what exactly is Claude "coding"? not that it matters, you can write a one-liner or a small function/procedure of a high level language or use an existing program to achieve whatever you're doing. and you're using a nice formal language to express the shitty idea you want.this reads like reinventing the same wheel the so called "software industry" has been reinventing for 40 years already. like people not knowing usenet/mail/irc exists but bow down to social media and discord as if they were the ones who invented communication. now it s LLMs and vibecoding.
>>110179642Makes the problem even larger
>>110179701Not everyone hates their life.
>>110179578i massively use llmsmerely today i think i prompted thrice and im busy doing everything BUT programmingbut also i dont use llms to generate code because its just fucking garbageai boosters are mentally handicapped retards from an altchan (sharty) who think sucking corpo dick gives meaning to their lives by being annoying
>>110179578I still do. I play with AI, because it's seeming more and more like I'll need to know how to leverage it. But to be brutally honest, it's boring. The tech behind it is interesting. But going block by block "First, we need a module that can do this, this and this with these constraints, gen that for me."And people expect me to have as much fun doing that as I do actually programming, and I just don't get why. I guess it's a result of the push for people to go into Comp-Sci, and how most of 'em ended up in soul sucking crud jobs for a field they never really enjoyed to begin with. But "Pop out end result" is not the part of programming that gives me joy.Same with math, even though I'm a total noob to math. I'm trying to learn. If AI really does make breakthroughs, I can't really hate that. But the people telling me learning math is worthless are primarily people who flunked it, or never studied anything they enjoyed. It's like learning about the solar system. 99.9 percent of the population have no need of that knowledge, but it's knowledge, skill and practice that give us the soul and the inspiration to be, well, human. I'm not a Catholic, but the pope is very correct about that. I also think AI is eroding social circles in the tech world. What, you gonna bond over what prompts work the best? Indie devs don't even like to show pics of their projects anymore.I take the good with the bad, but yeah, I don't enjoy using AI as a tool. I find it boring.
>>110179787Yes, which is largely a good thing. I don't feel originality is the sum of what makes life meaningful, the way it is empirically critical to creative efforts. Or at least it would suck for me to see people arguing this way
>>110179828i never understood the thrill of learning for tha sake of learninginventing shit- yeah, thats intellectual rock and rollbut learning? ughespecially when you've found superior solutions a couple of times already, thanks to the fact youre an illiterate and you didnt "learn" something is supposed to be imposible
I spent hours on Google gemini. Before I would have searched internet, gone on reddit, created a thread here but now I get stuff so much faster and more efficient with gemini. I also use it to generate avatar images for my profiles on steam, forums or discord.
>>110179578>seriously was /g/ always this low IQ?Dude, chatgpt has a more interesting answer than anons 99% of the time.
>>110179578>Are you actually using LLMs seriously or is most of this just bait? It's almost like there's multiple AI generals you could look at to decide
>>110179578The vast majority of what I post is exactly that—bait. However, I do use SI for nearly of my work: it is faster and better than I ever was—this is more a comment on my own lack of skill, expertise, and intelligence than any sort of praise for SI.

>>110179578why would I write code by hand when I don't need to? I never wrote assembly by hand because I could write C++ and have the compiler do that for me :)
there's a very big difference between just pure vibe coding and "guided vibe coding"a non-AI-phobic developer who learned "the old way" will still produce great code because they plan and guide the project using decisions and guardrails they would have done anyway. the AI is just automating the grunt work.of course someone with no education is going to end up with an epic mess of code if they lack the education to shepherd the AI
>>110179845Just as many solutions have been found because someone learned and disproved the established limits, as well.Saying you don't enjoy learning is a lie, though, as learning underlies all experience. Even if you don't like learning from a textbook, perhaps you enjoy learning about fictional worlds, or anime, or the people around you. Pretty much all positive human experience is an extension of learning, of reason, and of expression. All of human enjoyment is derived either from the world around us, or from the people in it, and our mental interaction with it.
>>110179981in this way, yeah, then i like learningeven though id call it (re-)discovering instead of learning (sry for the delay im doing 5 things at once)
>>110180248Nah, you're chill.
>>110180403still. i like being polite.its an easy, formalized way to show respect.
I like to use it to learn things. I often have it guide me through things and save it as a pdf so I can reference it later. Cheatsheets are great (double check everything against man pages and documentation). Only thing I've ever vibe coded was a remote SMS TUI. I use it daily, works ok but I want to hand write it. I bet I can make it work better, just been lazy.
>>110179578I do and it's great :)
