A seasoned programmer was fired because of AI. In a year or two there will be no programmers left.
>>110188538And yet, nobody uses it
>>110188538Still cheaper than a junior programmer.
if AI gives a huge productivity boost wouldn't it make more sense to just give all your employees access to it instead of firing them?
>>110188553AI can replace a human.
>>110188562Ok but you're now not gaining anything, just replacing one thing you have to pay for with another
>>110188562What's the point of having humans then?
>>110188553Consider a farm. Would you buy 100 tractors so that each of your former laborers has a tractor, or would you fire 100 laborers and drive the tractor yourself?
>>110188562What do you get out of it then if you can be replaced?
>manageroh nooooooooooooooo
>UnfinishedNot so sure about that
>>110188569Claude is cheaper.>>110188586>>110188596Learn trades or farming.
>>110188538>Claude prices keep going up and up.But local model prices keep going down and down.
Why is no one talking about UBI anymore? Are we seriously going to put everyone out of work with no alternative source of income?
>>110188620yes because that's a heckin gommunism
>drawfags still drawing>programmers going extinct huh
>>110188640they keep drawing but nobody is hiring them anymore
>>110188640Drawfags draw because the act of drawing satisfies them. They can't make money with it anymore though.Programmers program to make money and they too can't make money with it anymore.
AI solved math.AI decompiles program.AI re-wrote Bun in Rust.
>>110188538> just 1 or two more time units
>>110188538>just two more weeks
>>110188462>passenger trains made the stagecoach obsolete>interstate highways made the passenger trains obsoleteThe boomer codemonkey thinks he should be exempt from this cycle?
>>110188762It's not a cycle.
another actor employed by anthrophic to make organic AI social media slop posts
>>110189074> cope
>>110188620UBI will never, ever happen. It's a meaningless debate. It's like debating which alien race has the biggest penis.
>>110189461>It's like debating which alien race has the biggest penis.the niggers of aliens
>>110188657In my company we hire constantly. Especially 2d animators and illustrators
>>110189461Gay niggers from outer space
>>110188462these videos are mostly fake btw, some guy gets laid off for a reason that has nothing to do with ai or didn't have a jiob and make a video saying this and gets a million views. People ALWAYS play the meta.
>>110189497If you're hiring constantly that means there's a high turnover rate
>>110188462>Every year they claim AI will fire engineers>I'm still busier than everAI writes 100% of the code but it's not a 1 shot from product's vague requirements into a finished code base. So is you're not technical and don't understand what makes code right or wrong then you can't be behind the wheel to even ask the correct questions to the model to get a decent output. Sorry fag, still gotta go to work.
>>110188610>Claude is cheaper.It isn't.
>>110188462"engineering managers" are not programmers, rajesh, and if you think any of them getting laid off in their 40s is a new thing, you're even more useless than someone who doesn't know the difference
>>110189541Seems like it would be better to let an AI collect requirements by letting it talk to the stakeholders for hours and hours and hours and taking notes and asking questions. Then it can present the requirements in condensed, logical form to the programmers.
I am 90% sure I am going to be fired in the next year. Claude has automated so much of my programming I just kinda sit around waiting for things to do. I've already implemented all the "nice to haves" I wanted to but never had time / lazy pre-AI.
>>110189735same, and literally everyone feels this.there's no way we deserve to be paid 6 figs doing jack shit all day now
>>110188620At least in canada they had to change the acronym to gbi as even they couldnt lie to themselves about giving it to criminals, un desirables, and preferentially weighting payouts given their latest d&c agenda. People realized they just use ut to coerce behaviour to their latest vanity projects
If you were going to fire someone, is there any reason not to blame AI for it regardless of the actual reason?
>>110188591well duh, buy 100 tractors and scale the fuck out of my farm, are you stupid?
>>110189735>>110189838maybe stop being a low level codejeet lol. none of you deserve to be paid more than minimum wage in the first place
>>110188668>They can't make money with it anymore though. Not true. Most can't live off of it, especially in this collapsing economy, but the "starving artist" archetype has existed for millennia.
>>110189720We do this already but part of those requirements are still visual designs and vibes from the steak holders. It's still cheaper to have humans with institutional knowledge and context to infer the gap than have some general AI try over and over and fail. If it worked, you would do it and be a billionaire. But you're not.
>>110190051>language model better at reading comprehension and writing than 99.999% of people, effortlessly can hold a conversation with even the stupidest and most boring people and still understand exactly what they mean>language model pretty bad at math and logic but can do it poorly if forced or given a lot of tools to help itversus>software engineer extraordinarily bad at reading comprehension and writing, especially bad at having a conversation with another person, unlikely to remember anything that was said>software engineer good at math and logic and it can it well even without tools, but gets even better with toolsand we're swapping job roles? why?kind of sounds like people are being stupid again and this shit is going to crash and burn
>>110188620They will kill you in a world war before that ever happens.
>>110188462I'm a disabled veteran 100 percent P&T. Never been a better time to be on 3x types of welfare.
>>110189886>scale the fuck out of my farm, farms are land-limited, retard
>>110190286if i can afford 100 tractors that easy i'm buying more land then retard
>>110190293everybody else can also do the same so the price of land immediately jumps to the new equilibrium
>>110190309where the fuck did everyone get so much cash? was fed printing again?
