How would we communicate? through CLI message boards?

ol' reliable

And how would you connect to those CLI message boards, anon?
>>
Piece of paper stuck to a message board?

Where I live (Ohio), there's no "town square", but there is a posting board on the side of the courthouse. Certain things (bids for contracts, foreclosures, etc) are required to be "publicly posted". This fulfills that requirement.

Newspapers, or at least printed pamphlets/flyers/guides/etc, would probably become popular again.

The "internet" being brought down doesn't have to mean literally everything including the isps being brought down.
It could just be cloudflare aws dns and other services. You could still have connectivity in those circumstances. Direct p2p networking could still be possible
>>
>>110200516
Yeah but when rogues AI agents can chew through security it's kinda game ogre
>>
Same as we always ever did: IRC.
>>
>>110200624
What part of "the internet is down" are you struggling with?
>>
>>110199986
smoke signals
messenger pidgeons
cell phones
telegraph
radio
mail
in person (hopefully it doesnt get this bad)
>>
>>110199986
Meshtastic or similar
>>
>>110201013
No, you can't use messanger because the internet is down. What part of this do you not understand?
>>
>>110199986
Question, how do you bring down a decentralised network?

lol another zoomie who thinks the web is the internet
>>
>>110201066
Hmm yeah I'll give you that, but thats a small community and the ASN people usually sort it quickly, when Pakistan jeers up their attempts to block YouTube for example
>>
>>110201078
I would assume this would be forced upon them by the government

i would unironically rope. I have no friends, no family, i live alone in a small apartment and never leave the house. I have no tv no books or anything at all to occupy my life other than my computer and an internet connection. If the internet was down completely at the isp level and not even my phone can connect to the internet I have absolutely nothing else i can do other than stare a wall. I can't go outside because of deep rooted social anxiety, it would be like solitary confinement except prison would be more stimulating. The internet is all i have don't take it away from me.

Meshtastic or MeshCore. I have no one to talk to outside my city.

>>110201105
well better start setting up a home gym and learning how to write fanfiction and getting used to going to the library

I take the opportunity to escape from my shithole country to a first world country instead of communicating, if possible

Go and order some before it's too late, are ye daft?

a great reset of the internet could turn out to be a good thing. it would be interesting to observe people organizing their isolated little local networks, dodging AI etc.

Meshtastic:
https://meshtastic.org/

You could probably communicate long distances this way with enough effort
>>
>>110201153
Not when starlink is hovering in the stratosphere.
>>
>>110201105
get a $20 kindle and jailbreak it (or just download an epub reader) and hoard some ebooks
I would link this collection but I don't even remember where I got it. might have been from /lit/?
>>
>>110201105
I have 48GB of Amiga TOSEC disks to dig through. more than enough to last me two lifetimes.
but in this scenario, I will probably be too busy trying to get food though.

MeshCore preppers have been prepping for this exact scenario for years. you'd be surprised how much infra is already put in place, all by paranoid schizos. I think I will be getting 2-3 more of these.

>>110199986
If internet and go down, it means that the war is coming, pack your backpack and go to the bunker.
>>
>>110199986
I guess I will be forced out of my neetcave?
I always was curious about local library but I'm not sure if I would fit there. They seems to have fun, lately had collab with local pottery and ceramic club during an open night.

>through CLI message boards?
How would those not need internet access? You've got a dial up modem lying around? Your phone line, if you still got one, is probably VoIP. Why are you so fucking stupid?
