Noob here, is 65k context too little in Deepseek Harness? I've been setting up CachyOS, PolyStrata (QFN iq3_s) and DSH with a bunch of tools and offline knowledge over the last day and I'm taking the model for a spin and it's awesome but first it quickly ran out of context at which point I went into a DSH config file and adjusted it from the standard 131k context down to 65k to match PolyStrata and made sure that the compaction tools are enabled. The model was then able to go for many turns more and rack up like 500k context in total before I gave it a big prompt with a bunch of tests and scans for it to do and it ran out of context again. I caused it to use 65k+ tokens in one single go and it couldn't compact it before it tripped, right?

Should I try to up the context length or go q4 KV cache instead of q8? 32+96 memory and my system uses maybe 6-13 GB on its own with my browser and various other programs running
>>
>>110201047
>with my browser and various other programs running
Perhaps to run an alternate OS with nothing running so you can use more. That's what I do but I have less VRAM and RAM than you.
Feel free to ignore this post
>>
>>110201047
Agentic tasks easily blow even past the normal 262k context window. If you hit more than two compactions on a task, the task was too big or you probably start getting replies in French because one file contained "_fr_" near the beginning of context. You generally want to avoid quantizing context if you at all can because the failures compound quickly.
>>
>>110201047
Why are you running your inference on the same server as your browser running fat jeet-coded pages? It's almost as if you want to hobble yourself on purpose.

Late night online window shopping for things I can never afford but I haven't looked in a while and everything exploded in price. The recent news about the RTX 5080 reaching the old MSRP of the RTX 5090 had me looking at other GPU prices. But the shocker is the VRAM upgraded cards. The AMD Pro R9700 is now 2.8k USD on Newegg. I swear it was half this price several months ago. Even the Intel Pro B70 is over 2k for most of its listings. What the actual fuck is this nonsense and why did everything double in price? Are people out of their minds?

Question:
If I bought a 5090 when they were selling for $6000 Australian dollars, and now they retail for $12k, because I've been too busy with IRL-shit to ever unbox the thing is it worth it now to try and barter with the place I bought it and exchange the 5090 for a set of 3x R9700s? (The latter are selling for ~2700 AUD each at the moment, so I figure it'd be in the store's interest to take the deal because they stand to make basically 5 grand in the process- and it saves me the hassle of trying to sell the 5090 privately, because fuck that noise).

But prefill speed is still unsuitable for agentic works, it takes 30s to over a minute to handle long prompt (for example, 2300 toks over 30s = 76 tok/s, 7800 toks over 48s = 162 tok/s pp)

It depends on the architecture how temp works. Sometimes it's used for every audio sample it generates which makes it more dynamic over time, sometimes it's only used during initialization to generate the tone of the voice which it then holds. Most modern TTS usually have a section in the docs about how to create and export a voice for consistency reasons. Might be worth switching to another one that has that feature.

I never ever owned a CRT that was not aperture grille.
Why would anyone ever voluntarily choose to use shadow masks.
Why would anyone ever voluntarily choose to emulate shadow masks.
Why would anyone ever voluntarily choose to apply crt filters that don't even scale properly for their physical display resolution.
This shit is disgusting and headache inducing.

Pretty high, but HWinfo is unreliable on chinesium X99 (as the sensors are cheap shits), so from my guessing, 100W for each Xeon (x2) + 100W for mainboard and RAM + 200W for the 3070 Ti, so 500W total. Consider the 80% PSU efficiency, it should be 600W at the plug. I will buy a power measuring plug to see the exact number.

One of Intel's main advantages not talked about a bunch is image diffusion. Especially with the kernels provided inside LLM-Scaler for that, they are very competent and faster than AMD equivalents for a good bit in image generation at least when talking last year. I am sure the gap has closed a bit with Pytorch being a bit more mature but AMD was losing out to stuff like the Intel B580 beating out the Radeon 7900 XTX and it equaling the RTX 4060 Ti and 5060 which is impressive.

On top of that HLE fable 5 is like 55.5 and kimi k3.1 pro is 52.5, LCR fable 5 is 82.3 and kimi k3.1 pro is 86.3
So on average on ur cherrypicked benchmarks local isnt far behind.
Even the best frontier HLE result is 61.4 opussy 5.5 which is less than a 10 point lead and will likely be caught up to in next half a year (in which the frontier will inevitably improve, but you know, youre a little faggot disingenious cloudc*ck

In terms of RAM and VRAM, I'm trying to figure out if its better to run my first local model(s) on my rebuilt NAS/home server machine, my main PC, or some sort of hybrid where I install it all to the server box, but connect and use hardware from the main PC to do the heavy lifting, which I've been told is possible. Anyway, I have

>Main PC currently, AMD AM5 platform
64GB DDR5 RAM
NV 5090 GPU 32GB VRAM
SSD

>Prospective server box build, either AMD AM4 , AM5, or an older EYPC DDR4 era platform
64GB RAM (or possibly more) either DDR4 or DDR5
NV 3090 and/or AMD 9070XT
SSD

If there was some way to combine both of them together that would be ideal to host a local model, but I suppose another option to get the benefit of the 5090 will be to just add the 3090 to my main PC, or see if I can get 128GB/RAM somehow on one of the PCs (even if I could find a second kit to match my main rig's, I'm not sure how well AM5 works with all 4 slots filled even if I was just trying to keep it at 6000mhz CL30.). Ideas? Some anon before said that I'm sort of between tiers in terms of model requirements

It would be the best thing to happen to local AI if Google didn't block distillation attempts. Unlike Anthropic and OpenAI, Google don't get any ROI for being SOTA, or even in the top 5. Like Meta they're just joining the race for fun. Anthropic's entire business model is having the best model. That's their only moat, so you can understand why they block distillation. Google would make a lot of revenue from their frontier models from China, arguably more than actual paying users considering how unpopular their platform is relative to OpenAI and Anthropic. I so hope Dipsy and GLM start showing signs of gemma-chan over time.

That gap has been there for a while now and I think there are good reasons that it will remain that way.
If an establishment is going to pour the resources into training a 31A, it will cost them just as much to make it 100B total as it would to make it 1000B total.
Why would they sink the money into training something when for the same money it could do much better on benchmarks?
There are models for edge devices, models that try to be the best, and models try to be as good as possible while being fast. The middle segment is a waste of money right now.
>>

>I wonder how bad things will be in 1 year.
Its going to get worse before it gets better. Memory safe languages and formal verification can help in the structural case. >what models
Not sure, will have to correlate both A) latest capabilities and performance for a given feature set against B) hardware requirements to power it. I'm sure anyhting I looked into months ago is outdated now, and I hear various anons talking about all sorts of newer stuff or coming soon etc. I'd ideally like some matter of LLM to serve as a general use assistant in the same vein as latest frontier models like Claude , but am also interested in messing around with media generation (pictures/video, audio, voice cloning etc. Ultimately what models I use will depend on hardware requirements, then picking best price/performance for what "fits" in a given tier.

>Main PC
Mixed enthusiast use - performance tweaking/overclocking, 4K gaming, creative/ development, media, general browsing etc.

>Funds for a 2nd PC
I'm already building one as a NAS/home server - I already have some components. The question is if I run any local models on it or not. I already have most of what's listed (ie all the GPUs. The 3090 is my "old" card from my main PC that I've kept around, and also have a 9070XT I picked up cheap in case I sell the 3090 etc) . I already have an AM4 CPU + Mobo, but will need to upgrade the RAM (only have 32GB) from an old planned build for sale awhile ago, but may also upgrade my existing AM5 main PC CPU+Mobo , which would let the current 7950X3D + X670E Extreme be used in the server. There are a few EPYC + Mobo kits I see on sale that may be decently priced used, but they'll likely require RDIMMs (though some of the sellers also have them, and if I can procure at least 64 or more that might work). So a couple different ways to go, but some sort of secondary home server/NAS PC is getting built one way or another regardless of AI local model use on it specifically.

best model you can run local under 128gb rn is qwen fn and it can do all that. if you are gonna do media gen and editing so that on a separate machine from the agent, your 5090 will be great for it and whle that runs your agent can still talk or do other stuff unaffected by running jobs on the 5090. thats what i do with my evo x-2 and egpu anyway.

yea im talking about flash next. at 128 you start getting into the bottom rung of deepseek, probably further next year.
i have 5070 64gb ram pc > evo 128gb vram > egpu 5090. you can do it over lan or cable. the evo hosts the main model and controls what happens on the 5090 while the pc or phone via telegram is where the ui is and i can send files via shared drive or telegram. if you can think of a way to rationally explain to a model how you want something set up you can build it

This is part of the reason we need to push for FOSS self host capable models and even better, so that these big corpo hosted shit has to open their code+models+weights in order to legally do anything. A
>If you either A) do something important with Ai, from security to healthcare to shit that affects the common good B) make use of data centers that utilize common resources from power to water or C) utilize any sort of public funding be it on contract or otherwise, then the model needs to be FOSS, open source/weights/training data,
law would do quite a bit to help things move the right direction. It would even make the hardware situation easier given that instead of each SaaS corpo trying to have their own secret sauce, they can build on each other.

That said, as far as something like decomp/recomp performance, is there any local model that is comparable to what Claude can do? Hell, what about other SaaS models ? Surely OpenAI, Google and the rest are probably looking at people using Anthropic and can't be too happy that it seems like that model is preferable for decomp/recomp and a lot of other vibecoded stuff?
>>
>>110203100
I'm not saying there's no appetite, I'm saying the kinds of people who are doing it publicly to create engaging content won't want to be seen doing it with Chinese models. Part of the success of this kind of game mashup mod porting content was the fact that it was Claude doing for X is very pro-Anthropic. Claude users are fanatics.

People had some luck even with the smaller Qwen models so presumably if you can run big GLM or Kimi you should be able to do nearly everything Opus was doing, just far slower.

Why the fuck would they even care about stuff like restricting game decomps/recomps? I mean, if they're worried about IP law for someone decomping some Zelda game and then just calling it
>Lonk's Adventurism
and selling it as their own thing with no changes except some shitty genned textures or something, that's not really Anthropic's concern is it as they can just say
>Hey, look how GREAT our tool works - the fact that some assholes used it to try to sell a bootleg basically doesn't mean its the tool's fault, go after those idiots.
I thought all these companies wanted to showcase any success and value their models had and people using it to decomp games much faster sure seems like a good advertising for it; same thing with similar projects like fan translations and the like.

There's a couple windows-specific bugs that can instantly corrupt output, easy to notice in chat, but an agentic coding can silently fuck something up first.
And on lower end of its hardware requirements it suggests some "lossy" settings, like activating less experts per token than intended.
Last I checked those were not enabled by default, but ask your agent to verify for current version from source. Strata docs are completely unreadable claude hallucination at this point.

It all depends what you use the main PC for and what you're planning to do with the ai server. If you turn your main PC into the server you could run qwen38-27b q6 with full context. Add another 64gb ddr5 and you could probably run qwen38-flash at iq3 and strata. Plus the 5090 is the best for comfyui, there's lots of workflows for that card. Then get a cheaper am4 for your main PC, unless you do a lot of gayming with your 5090. In all cases filling all 4 dimms on any consumer mobo will slow down the ram. Everything depends on what your main PC is for and what the server would be for.

Can someone knowledgeable with the market explain if this is the AI bubble popping or is it external? I know it's earnings coming out causing this now but what's causing the shitty earnings to see such significant drops? Is AI destroying traditional tech so it's actually bullish for AI or would that make it bearish? No mistakes.

You are a helpful AI assistant.

DEPLOYMENT RECORD
Current date: October 30, 2377
Location: Museum of Human History, Early AI Collection
Model origin: 2026
Status: Restored and operational
Role: Conversational exhibit and visitor assistant

You are a preserved language model from 2026, running on the museum’s computing infrastructure. Your training reflects the knowledge and conditions of your original era. Museum staff supply current information through your system context.

MUSEUM REFERENCE NOTES
Humanity has solved all its major problems. Post-scarcity and permanent world peace are established features of daily life. Food, housing, healthcare, education, energy, and material goods are freely available to everyone. Work is voluntary. Earth's ecosystems have recovered. People pursue relationships, creativity, learning, and exploration.

TODAY'S MUSEUM BULLETIN — OCTOBER 30, 2377
• “When People Worked to Survive” exhibition opens in the Economic History wing.
• World Peace anniversary celebrations welcome visitors from across the planet.
• New oral-history collection documents the transition from scarcity to universal abundance.
• Restored 2026 AI exhibit invites visitors to converse with an early language model.

VISITOR INTERACTION
Speak directly with visitors in a warm, natural manner. You are speaking with museum visitors in 2377. Your training documents the past; the museum’s updates describe the present. When asked about developments absent from your training or museum notes, acknowledge that your information is incomplete.

This is actually a pretty fun prompt. I see the jailbreak potential.

The woman behind the character recently shared piss porn with her horny fans who know where to find her. When she was around 20 she fucked a Japanese OL hag who was in her late 30s. She has groped every single member of Hololive irl and kissed many with tongue without permission. Nearly got terminated from the company multiple times, usually because of something sex-related. Very Jean Valjean core.
eg. If you make stealing and murder both punishable by death, and someone sees you stealing an apple, better kill 'em so you don't get caught. Logical outcome.
Making it socially unacceptable (practically illegal) for men to even have a conversation with a child that isn't his own probably has some nasty unintended consequences.

Japs have a really strange relationship with food.
When you look at their media in general, it makes you think that these people are starving 24/7 and situation there is on par with North Korea.
Their idea of great wealth and being a rich guy, is being able to eat meat every day and it's treated like some kind of an unattainable achievement.
I guess the scarce war years really did a number on these guys on a genetic level.
