Why is A/V sync such a difficult problem to solve with home theater equipment? I bought a fairly high end Epson projector and it has widely different amounts of video delay depending on the frame rate of the input signal. It's 40ms for 60hz and 200ms for 24hz. So I can't set a manual audio delay on my receiver because I'll have to change it every time I switch between watching film and tv content. If I turn on "game mode" on the projector then there's no delay on any input, but then my fucking receiver has a 50ms audio delay which can't be fixed because it only allows you to add audio delay, not video delay.Supposedly HDMI 2.1 is supposed to fix this with an automatic A/V sync feature over ARC but I've never seen a tv or projector that actually supported this. How is it that something that completely ruins the experience of watching a movie on equipment solely designed for watching movies hasn't been fixed by this industry after all these years?
