So I am looking for the best audio book device so I can listen to audio books (AUX output) The one in the picture is extra crap. What I want is a device that plays MP3s or OGG(not a problem to convert) and remembers the place in the file I stopped on. I also like it to have a jump 1 second back or forward(back is more important) in case I got distracted or want to listen to something that was spoken before. All MP3 players have the nasty problem of jumping to the next song and I definitively do not want that button functionality. What do you sugest /g/ ?PS: Obviously no phone shit and no internet connectivity I really do not want to use some crap spyware geolocation monitoring shitware.

>>110210735>iphoneI rather kill myself then use anything apple.>*phoneI did say no phone!
Buy the cheapest android phone from AliExpress and look and see if there's an audio book app on f-droid.
>>110210767No phone.
>>110210765Yeah but what you're looking for probably doesn't exist anymore in the modern world. Phones replaced everything for normies and now any special single use device is a niche thing for nerds, and you are asking for a niche within a niche. If you do find something that does what you want, it will probably do half of it ok and have annoying rough edges and bad problems in other ways, to the point that just getting a shitty phone for cheap and finding the appropriate app would be much better, much less effort, and possibly cheaper
>>110210789>use device is a niche thing for nerds,I am asking on /g/!>. Phones replaced everything for normiesImagine needing to walk around with your government geotracker to listen to books!
>>110210717had similar thoughts some time ago decided that phone with SmartAudiobookPlayer was best solution for me MP3 players just suck at dealing with audiobooks that includes even iPods and RockBox'ed devices regular chink players are even worse
>>110210824>SmartAudiobookPlayerCrippled trialware glowshit. Kys.>>110210717OP, if you do cave and go the phone route, here:https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/de.ph1b.audiobookhttps://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/com.studio4plus.homerplayer
>>110210824Did anyone think to simply make one?I mean how do we get something on a Raspberry Pi Zero connected to some programmable 9 button think that outputs only navigational signals for VLC(or whatever)? Yes it be a brick however at least it is not a phone and god knows I am exposed to enough wifi radiation in my life.
I have a couple players and I'm sorry to say they all kind of suck. Why? Battery life. If you plan to use them on the regular you're looking at a daily charging ordeal. Now if you want a 1 second skip for audio books you're doubly out of luck. Sorry but you might have to get a phone.
>>110210879>Sorry but you might have to get a phone. Why not make your own?Why is there no tablet like Guano+loonix thing that has no internet connectivity and only a touche screen?
>>110210717Here you go OP:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GREDXGUIt's the only readily available portable audio book player out there, and it's conveniently preloaded with the only book worth reading.
>>110210912LOL>NIV HeresyDIE HERETIC! I can read the satans bible AKA NIV on my own!
>>110210891Sure man if that works for you go ahead.
>>110210987https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R13XKLK^KJV Edition
>>110212456How is this even a real thing?
>>110212487There's a competitor that makes a luxury variant too :]https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G2S6V8ZNBTW, all of the Bible audio book players ITT support MicroSD cards and can be used for other audio books and audio files in general. OP would be set if he bought any of them.
>>110212602Can it skip back 1s?
>>110210717Get a phone>PS: Obviously no phone shit and no internet connectivity I really do not want to use some crap spyware geolocation monitoring shitware.Get a phone, disable all connectivity (yes, you can), only use adb
>>110212719>yes, you canNO you can not!>b-b-b- the seating saysIt means nothing base band still cücks you!
>>110213107You can root the phone and disable the software and open the phone and disable the antenna, idiot
>>110212693Looks like it can skip back, but I don't know by how many seconds. Check the manual. Anyway, these bible players look like the closest thing to what you want without building your own.
>>110213167>You can root the phoneDoesn't do shit to the base band processor.>and disable the software Doesn't do shit to the base band processor.>open the phone and disable the antennaYou should have started with that. However1) That is to much effort2) funny thing about antenas even if you remove one the PCB still has connection. I did remove antennas from my router since they where removable.
>>110213107>>110212719>Doesn't do shit to the base band processor.>>110210789>Phones replaced everything for normies and now The world is so clowned it is unreal. I wounder what people in the 1980s or 1960s would think of our timeline and our technology. Imagine needing to walk around with the government geolocator and government microphone who auto connects to the GSM spyware network and activates your microphone to listen to you so you can do anything in the modern world. We are clowning hard!Tech did not used to be like that. Daily reminder that the Walkman has everything you need. Also if you record these MP3s to audio cassette you can listen to them and have an automatic skip back button.
>>110213204The joos can't make a tiny povertyphone pcb without an antenna be able to pick up anything but background noise no matter how much "they" (actually you, with your lazy ass "too much effort" excuses) want you to believe. Go ahead and consoom something completely unnecessary to fill your goysoomer needs, something THEY actually want you to do, idiot
>>110210717These portable chinkp3 players are kind of great but the screens are often totally shit. like really bad, appalling even.
>>110212602>can be used for other audio books and audio files in generalreminds me of kids in the late 80's figuring out that Teddy Ruxpin had a regular tape deck and you could put any tape you wanted in it
>>110210717Honestly you should plug it into a Claude Desktop and have it update the software the way you want. Then share the firmware you made for others.
