This is around the time Claude Fable was introduced, no? I've had success getting Fable to do some NSFL kinks like bestiality and noncon. Ageplay is still a gamble, but I did manage to sort of write it out, of course without myself explicity mentioning age.

Future models seem to have stronger guardrails, though. Opus 5.5, when I occasionally drop it into a continuation fable would've done, will refuse where Fable would've gave the ok.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times before so I do apologize, but what would y'all say is a good model for roleplay? I enjoy Gemma 31b for local stuff on my device - but in longer RP's, its context starts to suffer, sadly.
Still, I enjoy its writing style, by and large, and am deathly afraid of the frontier model slop writing I've seen when my friends have shown me their RP's. All the characters sound the same, and are basically robots.

For local gemma 31b is the best you can do with consumer grade computers. For API common choices are deepseek (usually v4.1 flash 1017), mimo 2.6 pro, some GLM (i'm not sure which). Yes, the chinks are ahead atm. Some people like gemini or claude but they're more expensive, they refuse stuff (and take your money when they do), and honestly they're very coding slopped and not that good at RP anymore like in the old days.
I took a cursory glance at nanogpt and it looks a bit more expensive than openrouter so you probably want the latter. Also don't bother with monthly subs. You'd need to run a max context RP 24/7 for the whole month to even approach the cost of a sub with any of the chinese models.

Anything out there to make opus a bit less preachy at least? it's clearly the best writer by a massive distance. Love Argon but you aren't building a full story with that, it's only better at throwing ideas. Once things reach a certain point even sonnet 4.5 ends up exposing Argon's limitations.
