Realistically, how much longer do we have until the internet becomes wholly unusable due to sheer overregulation?
>>
>>110222586
It already happend slowly, I don't know precisely when it happend but it did.
This is just the final blow.

The internet was "addictive" back then because it was genuinely fun, now it's addictive because it's engineered like this due to the attention economy (I mean overstimulation like infinite scroll with slop and the ragebait bots here on 4chan too) and the creation of surveillance capitalism.
>>
>>110222586
It's an opportunity, anon.

I've already hoarded/curated pretty most of what I want in my own library. Have ebooks and manga left. Skipped movies since I've barely watched any for the past 10 years due to their low quality but should make a library of that anyway since I don't know if I want it in 20 years. It seems like the authoritarians are accelerating even faster now so it probably just a couple of years left.
>>
>>110222586

"Internet" is already reduced down to like 4 websites.
>>
>>110222586
I'd say you'll see things as soon as next year but you'll have enough time to try and salvage yourself until at least 2030 depending on how much income you have to be able to afford all the hard drives and all that stuff but you'll see it maybe in one country then you'll see it in 2 then you'll see it in 3 and you'll know eventually it's gonna be coming to your country and you'll have maybe months to prepare yourself and if you didn't already prepare yourself you'll pretty much be f*****
>>
>>110222586
It's like a big tsunami is coming you can see it on the horizon and you're asking yourself how much time do I have well it doesn't matter your house is still gonna get destroyed you're still gonna be stuck in traffic your family's still gonna die so knowing how soon that all happens isn't gonna change the fact that it is it's not like you can build a tsunami stopping machine in the time because you find out oh I got 2 years left okay well that's just enough time to build one so I can save myself nope it's coming and there's really nothing you can do about it
>>
>>110222586
A year or two—selfie verification will become mandatory for every website every session.
>>
All the regulations and shit are aimed at big tech, not you. People in big tech disdain you faggots because you DON'T have to deal with all the regulatory shit that they have to. Calm down and quit crying. If you want the real answer: Your brain is fucked because the same people in big tech who hate you also exploited you for profit, systemically made you get addicted to those 4 big websites (>>110223450) and basically you are their cattle. That is how they look at you.

You are a product to be used and exploited in the eyes of capitalism and the big tech industry. That is the truth.

Three hours after making this post my twitter account got locked because the algorithm decided I'm under the age of 13.
I made the account in 2011 and have used it steadily since.

Twitter has no support helpline, so there's no one can talk to about this. Guess what the only way to unlock my account is ;)

The internet's current state as a medium where everyone can contribute, post, interact and engage is already about 50% on its way out. Those days are dwindling. The ultimate goal is repeating section 230, once that happens (and it will happen) the internet will begin moving toward a model that more resembles television. The average commoner with consume, but not engage. When a company is held liable for everything they host, they will be forced to be very selective about what that is. Moderation becomes practically impossible even WITH AI under those conditions, so what's gonna happen is the only websites that will survive will be (a) streaming services like Netflix, (b) work-related utilities and portals, and (c) finance-related stuff. Everything else, porn, social media, forums, messaging apps, etc, won't really be able to exist in the way it does now. By design they'll be lawsuit magnets and it wouldn't make sense for even the richest companies to maintain something that hemorrhages orders of magnitude more money than it takes in. That will happen by 2030.
>>
>>110225138
i guess they got the order to start rolling that decree out. after spending thousands across dozens of hotels in multiple countries over several years and having the double secret highest tier of their rewards program booking.com just asked me to verify my identity

>The internet's current state as a medium where everyone can contribute, post, interact and engage is already about 50% on its way out.
This is true especially when you consider that all sites are moving towards automated moderation that bans for seemingly no reason, and when you try to appeal the ban, the bot that banned you agrees with itself and rejects your appeal immediately. Shadow bans are working to the seem purpose as well.
>>
>>110227577
Automated moderation, combined with biometric harvesting against ban evasion, combined with the attempts to reign in moderation with state laws being ruled unconstitutional in 2024...
>>
>>110222745
It still can be fun, but in the small crevices of anons in large platforms and the small/old sites these regulations want to utterly crush.
>>
the internet is wholly unusable
i can promise you nobody is happy when it turns out they have to go to a website they have never used before and that most of the time that website will be a scam or try to force you to login with google/apple/selfie verification crap or just be some AI slopped garbage
>>
>>110222586
TOR will be normie in the next 20 years
>>
i'd say we're closer to slopocalypse than to overregulation lol. When everything is so garbage you not gonna want to use it naturally.

>>110227976
See >>110206650 (me IIRC).

It would be very morbidly funny if they made the only escape from helicopter parenting TOR/I2P and forums that were made for literal kiddy diddlers to hide from the law.

May Ken Paxton and Beeban Kidron rot in hell forever.
>>
>>110227976
Tor is already glowie, now with AI powered forensics tools
>>
>>110228012
The real question is do said glowies value internal information control enough to blow up their own exfiltration tools out of and into the digital spaces of foreign countries (particularly China), and their ability to farm blackmailable assets.

Though that may be decided for us if China either successfully shitcans VPNs or splits their net off from the global internet on an infrastructural level.

HEY YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES. YES YOU ON THIS WEBSITE READING THIS. YOU ARE SMARTER THAN ME RIGHT? YOU HATE THE CURRENT STATE OF THINGS RIGHT? FOR JUST THE SMALLEST BIT OF EFFORT AND 100$ YOU CAN JOIN A WIRELESS MESH AND IMAGEBOARD. THE ONLY ISSUE IS THAT " NO ONE WILL BE THERE" WHICH IS (YOU). YOU CAN BE FREE OF SLAVERY IF YOU REMOVE THE THING ON YOUR WAY WHICH IS (YOU) AND START TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY FUCK I HATE YOU AND I HATE SHOUTING AND I HATE SLAVES WHICH IS ME

Why not both? It's not like social media platforms will boot their own approved bots, just non-self-doxxing end users.
>>
>>110230444
That's the morbid part, nobody trusts anyone else in any part of this "verification" process, so everyone will still assume bots even if *they* had to give up their faces, retinas, fingerprints, assholes, and drivers' licences to use the internet.

>>110227983
Anyone who's seen Xitter nubluechecks should never think that verification will stop people from just posting AI slop anyways.
>>
>>110226998
Let's hope we (I, frankly) have four years to do it. God be with (the? us?) squirrel anons, saving nuts for this horrid long night

Is everyone saying 2030 out of optimism, the Agenda 2030 thing, or is there some other timeline I'm not privy to?
>>
>>110235718
Yeah, Agenda 2030 I guess. Seems to make sense? Right on time, after Epstein and October 7th. They have full clearance to torture the gentiles now
>>
>>110228012
>created by U.S. Naval Research Laboratory
>now glowie

>>
>>110236318
Epstein was successfully covered up and memoryholed after 2019-2020, and 10/7 was both an Arab thing and perhaps *allowed* to happen (at least if I believe the Israeli opposition, and given Mossad's capabilities, I wouldn't be shocked).

And if this was all the Jews, then why wasn't all the Jew stuff algorithmically suppressed? We know these sites have those capabilities from 2020-22. Consider the possibility that the Jews are just frontmen here.

Also, why 2030 specifically? Is it just a catchy number?
>>
>>110236338
*then for some reason the Epstein thing was unfrozen like five or six years later. Perhaps they were not confident in suppressing revolts in 2020 but were in 2025?

I wouldn't be shocked if the slop was a psyop to make people welcome this.

>>110237872
I mean, how did the third world get so much access to these networks? Even *Facebook*? You're telling me nobody interviewed or tracked down all the people making this slop?

What if it isn't people? After all, these companies have an incentive to puff up engagement numbers to fool investors...
>>
>>110235718
yeah, neofeudalism age, own nothing and be happy stuff, instead of being scared of barbaric tribes raping you and your children, you are scared of whatever fearmongering they feed you, ironically they will end up raping your descendants anyways

Don't worry, anon. LLM based scrapers are going to kill off the open internet so fast government won't have time to draft any laws.
>>
>>110222586
>becomes wholly unusable due to sheer overregulation?
We will just make our own Internet.
>>
>>110238700
>open
That's the problem. These laws force you to dox yourself to make an account, but every platform wants you to make an account in order to view anything.

Though given how many bluechecks are AI slop, it's not improbable that it won't even solve the problem.
>>
This is why ZeroNet was a good idea.

>>110238801
>These laws force you to dox yourself to make an account
I'm not making myslef clear then. There will literally not be an internet for you without an account, either because you pay, or they sell the content you upload as organic training data for LLMs. Open source software may be free, but access to the documentation won't be. More and more integrated avertising or higher usage costs for video/sound streaming.

Not a single law required, just economics.
>>
>>110238655
facebook used to have ads in tv back in 2009, they also made facebook free access without having a data plan for a while
>>
>>110238882
They're already doing that. They do that even if you pay, just look at Xitter and Grok. They already put ads on streaming services (even paid ones lmao).

The problem is they also want your dox for """age verification""", even for ordinarily free sites.
>>
>>110239381
I meant the slop accounts - accounts that do little but post AI slop for Ameriboomers - how are they not filtered out of US feeds?

Not talking about thirdies posting to other thirdies.
>>
>>110228007
Well, PaKKKSSton is certainly rotting tonight.
