/g/, are smart watches cringe?
>>
Yes
>>
If they looked like regular wrist watches and had a battery that lasted a week they'd be less dumb. Now they look like small gay butt plugs.
>>
>>110224702
I still don't understand what they're for. They do nothing.
>>
>>110224702
I use mine to help keep track of my heart health and monitor for any complications.

They are great at harvesting your bio metrics to send to corporations
>>
>>110224887
their consent agreements you sign outright say they don't do that so try again
>>
>>110224906
>Retard believes corporations when they say " we promise"
LMAO
You have to be an iPhone user. I bet you are.
>>
>>110224853
They're pretty nice if you run a lot, otherwise yeah, they don't really do much.
>>
>>110224702
Probably good for running or for alerting about potential heart issues.
My mom got an apple watch and I thought it was a useless purchase, but it alerted her to some heart issues, which finally pushed her to see a doctor, so I'm really thankful for that at least.
I personally have used a miband like 8 years ago and while the convenience of being able to access notifications very easily was nice for a while, I grew tired of it rather quickly.
>>
>>110224853
I got a smartwatch to track my sleep because I thought I wasn't getting enough. Turns out my sleep time is mostly fine.
I guess now I can check notifications on my watch instead, reducing the need for me to pull out my phone every five minutes.
>>
>>110224853
They're more useful if it has cellular data on it, think of it as a backup iPhone just in case.
>>
I like my Apple Watch. I like that it tells my fatass to get up and do something. I dislike that I have to charge it daily.
>>
>>110224702
smart watches are just attention sapping mind control devices for the goyim ngl just wear a real watch
>>
>>110224801
I miss my pebble. Battery would last weeks.
>>
>>110224702
Pixel was the best design and feel for me but you have to have a pixel watch to fully utilize it and I sold my pixel phone because it was shit. Bought a samsung watch and it's health stuff is great but I miss the domed round pixel.
>>
>>110224702
na they're great. I like tracking my heart rate and blood pressure. I stopped drinking coffee at work because of them. It souked ny heart rate and blood pressure.
>>
>>110225845
Sounds like you missed out on the IQ train too. Too bad you only got the two digit model.
>>
>>110225839
they did a pebble reboot
>>
>>110224702
the worst thing about smartwatches is that they are a redundant, expensive tiny screen on your wrist so you can be bothered with useless notifications. I just need to see the time most of the time, so my casio is more than enough.

then again, I'm interested in the health stuff. It would be nice having all the apple watch health sensors in a screnless band. Looks like John Apple is putting this together, fortunately.
>>
I got one for fitness tracking. I fond the notifications way too intrusive.

I got a fitbit air a few weeks ago and it replaced my apple watch. Apple watches look faggy no matter how much you try to compensate for it.

You can enable beeps or vibration when you get a message, do you know that? It's what people do that don't like complicating things.

Just buy a 10 dollar Casio watch that was perfected 40 years ago
>>
>>110224702
I'm a run fag so I like using them. I still think old fashioned watches can look way better than them. I find it annoying how often I have to charge it but I have it charging when I shower which is when I would take it off anyways.

But do you like average IQ watches?

Ask Gemini 3.8+ to vibeslop an app to allow interfacing with Antigravity on a remote machine so you can vibeslop on the go. You'll look like James Bond whispering to your watch to do shit.

If you run a lot (or any sport for that matter) then you do not need a device that tells you your performance. You will never see a real athlete relying on an external device for help. "smart" watches are for posers only.

I've been wearing smartwatches since the original Pebble came out. Just bought one of these, it's very nice. There's a screen behind the face so you can't even tell it's a smartwatch until you tap it to wake it up or a notification comes through. My sole complaint is that the vibration is too weak when maxed out

Great for health monitoring. Also good for staying off your phone without losing access to vital information. You can leave your phone at home entirely but still have access to directions, music, podcasts, phone calls, mobile payments, transit passes, texts and whatnot.
>>
>>110230538
athletes absolutely do track their performance you fucking retard.
but even beyond that it’s super useful. apple pay means I have money in a pinch without having to carry a credit card or a rolled up 20 in a sock. and if I’m 5 miles from home and think of something I know I’m going to forget I can just ask siri to remind me in an hour.

My phone is usually on silent most of the day, so I tend to miss out on anything that's not a phone call. I'm more likely to feel vibrations on my wrist than in my pocket or sling bag.

I prefer programmable watches like the Watchy or the m5stack cStick, I think they're cool :3
Kinda question why they aren't more popular.

Aside from all the meme health things which are probably super unreliably measured anyway though it's still good to follow trends, not having to take your phone out of your pocket for many things is just really convenient. I noticed that I actually allowed far more notifications which I used to consider spam because it feels less spammy if you don't have to take your phone out of your pocket just to see if it's not more important. Controlling music and doing contactless payments with it is also nice.

The issue is though that their potential is chronically unfulfilled because no one is supporting it. 2fa is a pain because no one wants to take his phone out of his pocket when he's sitting behind a desk which is highly inconvenience but none of these people support smarwatches for it either which would be very convenient. Would be great if musicolet had actual support for it so it could do more than simple playback controls or if one could do Anki reviews on it, but alas.

>>110224935
>Anon actually believes this wouldn't be found out leading to a massive lawsuit.

Are you all retards that buy 10 different things per day on a whim? Are you women? What the fuck are you doing in this board?

I like my Garmin Instinct for hiking trips because I can check the compass, weather, sunset time, and use offline maps. I even took it swimming in water park one time because I needed to check the time so I wouldn't be late for a meeting later. With that being said, I think smart glasses > smart watches going forward. They can do most of the same shit and more.

That apple glass shit in your pic is designed for warehouse workers and shit. You're not supposed to wear those in public.

they look good at wasting your money for almost zero gain. I could put a fucking projector onto the windshield for the same effect as this. The only way AR glasses will ever be useful is if they go full eyerape like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJg02ivYzSs which its own hell of its own.
>>
>>110224702
proper watches are better fashion accessories and a smartphone is a better gadget
this shit literally has no use case unless you're a tech-illiterate teenage whore
if you own one of this shit, please kindly to the needful and gtfo of my board
>>
>>110237089
Your first argument was that smart glasses look ass and then when faced with a pair that doesn't you sperg out about them not being full ARslop or whatever. Seems like a skill issue if you can't figure out what to use the tech for and don't understand that I said smart glasses > smart watches GOING FORWARD. There is no doubt that smart glasses will have thinner profiles, longer battery life, and more/better features than you could ever manage to get with a smart watch in the future. None of that matters to retards like you who don't ever actually buy or use tech, as opposed to bitching about it online like annoying faggots.
>>
ive had a garmin venu x1 for about half a year, i do a LOT of cycling and apart from the HRM being a bit inaccurate at times, the 5-6 day battery life and connectivity to my bike sensors is really useful. its a shame the watch faces are either shit or expensive and the supplied wrist strap is fabric so it gets sweaty.
>>
>>110237529
>longer battery life
lol thats an entirely different field from technology and has been stagnant for years after Lithium Ion batteries came out. Your only option is more efficient CPU usage (phones underclock most of the time when not active to extend battery usage) you're never going to get past the form issue where the frames need to be gigantic to store a fucking battery in them. They'll always be ugly, underpowered, weak on features and with pathetic battery life. Making these glasses your "thing" is the weirdest fucking shit ever, its like people who swore 3d was going to be everywhere and we had to listen to advertisements for years for 3d tv and shutter glasses and 3d video games now its all gone. Same with VR, big promises and no results because the form as it attaches to the human body is garbage. Watches are already a long established product that works and phones are just squares which the human hand has been picking up since time immemorial. Glasses on the other hand want to be as slim as possible because humans hate heavy things on their head.
>>
>>110235933
It's called going to work/university and back which is already 8 different times swiping your card if you have even one transit and 4 if you have none.
You may have assumed n.e.e.t. such as yourself.
