I hate WGSL so fucking much.
>>110232778>Engine DevelopmentI'm assuming you rip Godot and tell Claude to make its own engine based off that? I'm hoping to get rich off selling slop so I can spend all my time trying this and see how it goes. I'm sure it's unknown territory for everyone, since making your own engine was never something a sane person would attempt until now.
>>110233799I've been at it for like 15 years...

housekeeping day. mostly fixing build jobs and linux build packaging.

Let's say I am retarded, and I want to learn C in 2026. What is the best first-step material?
>>110236325for making games? Raylib
>>110236335Well, yes. But before Raylib, I should get used to the C syntax, no? I have only used script languages, Go and C#. So I imagine C is a very different territory. Hostile even. I do have this guide from anons ready: https://rentry.org/gedg-cbuildBut I figured I should learn a couple of raw C before going through it.
>>110236364If you can use C# you can use C no problem
>>110236364C syntax is so simple you will be fine just jumping right in a learning by trial and error with raylib. maybe take 10 minutes to understand pointers and arrays, but really its not that complicated.
>>110236364Read the C bible dog.>inb4 boomer>>110236548You say this but pointers seem to to be a huge roadblock for many. And then when people think they understand them they kind of don't.
>>110236557I think people over complicate pointers and scare themselves off. I guess if you're coming from webdev, or some background where you do not care about the underlying machine it could seem weird.
>>110236587It's because C has terrible pointer syntax
>>110233799>I'm hoping to get rich off selling slopyou and a billion other jeets. you're better off playing lottery.
Finally tried using AI for the first timeInstead of actually writing code I just say "do this" and sit there and wait 30 seconds and it does itIs this my life now
>>110236592Seems like a skill issue.
>>110237501It is, but C still has terrible pointer syntax
>>110237501Seems like a reddit post to me
Pointers are pointers. They point. In this case, to memory. Thus named pointer. That is it. It is like passing by reference rather than value. It is the NTR of programming, the chad memory has your value, and you can only watch from afar.
>>110237571The concept of pointers are not hard to understandC pointer semantics are hard to understand
>>110237605
>>110237633not sure why you're posting this
>>110236548So C is simple... And C++ raped it? I see many refer to C++ as hard.
>>110237647it's not hard because of the syntax
>>110237647Sort of. C++ adds classes, which complicates memory management a little bit. You have to think a bit harder about ownership and lifetimes and stuff, it introduces fun new ways to shoot yourself in the foot. All of the "modern" features are very bloated and have ugly syntax. You can program C++ in a very paired down C-style way, ignoring all of the new features if you like, lots of people do that. Occasionally you will encounter a problem where classes or templates are genuinely useful.
C++ with templates often adds quadratic (O(n2)) compile times for every template instantiation. It's why Linux, a largely C-based software, takes 1 hour to compile while Firefox takes a day to compile while they both have the same order of magnitude of lines of code.Rust has the exact same problem as C++.C is a horrible language to program in, but with LLMs it's not so bad anymore.
>>110237494Yup, now's the time to get good at how to tell it "do this". Because, for now, it's good enough to do 95% of the work and it's up to you to wrap up the last 5%.
>>110237892>C is a horrible language to program inWhy?>>110237660But would it be correct to say that C++ itself is hard? Or is C already challenging on its own?
>>110238288>But would it be correct to say that C++ itself is hard?YesC++ is probably the hardest language to use, C is fairly simple
>>110238288C++ is as hard as you want it to be. you can just use it as C with stricter type safety and function overloading. or you can use it for advanced metaprogramming that will melt your brain. you take what you need. its learning curve is pretty gentle.
