Oh no, that sucks. Anyway...https://www.startpage.com/https://duckduckgo.com/https://search.brave.com/
>>110236957There ARE other search engines though?
>lose access to Google search
>>110236957What's stopping somebody just visiting google.com and performing a a search?
>>110236957kids shouldn't be using search engines anyways.
>>110237088Seriously this. If youre too dumb to look up info you need from the school library you're not meant to go to university anyway.
>AI is so amazing we have to force people to use itOkay.
>>110236957I refuse to believe that anyone thinks Google can do this, do you know how computers even work?
>>110236957https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/products/education/ai-learning-era-updates-2026/>Google Search: We’re building Guided Learning capabilities into Search for student accounts to help them work through problems without skipping straight to answers. >We believe schools should have control over AI in their classrooms and in providing administrators with controls to help them manage their approach. After listening to schools, teachers, leading researchers, and policymakers, we are now updating our approach to controls for Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Classroom, and Google Search. Access to these products will be entirely off for K-12 student accounts until school administrators explicitly turn them on.>We’ll share more specifics with schools in the coming months ahead of the changes rolling out so they have time to prepare and enable a smooth transition.
>>110237024if you type in google.com in the address bar the google school police show up and arrest you

>>110236957YOU DID IT, REDDIT! YOU FINALLY WON!!!!!!
>>110237123Retard. You're supposed to expand your knowledge on your own. Classes don't teach 100% of what you need. But what would a neet know...
>>110237435I'll just ask AI
>>110237393like your k12's mdm allows you to use vpnslike your k12's firewall isn't blocking vpnlike your k12's managed chromebook isn't using ai to to monitor everything you do
I honestly can't tell if this is real news or not, but between Scam Altman saying private RAM ownership is unfortunate and Cisco's jeet CEO putting a jeet in charge of vibecoding their entire legacy codebase I'm inclined to believe it's real.
>>110237586When I was in highschool I installed tor on my laptop to get around blocked webpages. Tor nodes weren't blocked for some reason.
>>110237164>>110237393>>110237586>>110237021>>110237016Learn what Google workspace is retards. Schools that have their student accounts under those or the ones being targeted. My mom works at a highschool and ALL of their shit is saved on Google drive. Lesson plans. IEPs. Student assignments. Documentation. Discussion post assignments. If they can be digitized, they throw that shit into the school-assigned share drive. Schools will be forced to re-enabled the AI search, if not now, then later, because Google can easily make some bs TOS update that says you HAVE to agree to keep using their service. They did exactly that with Gemini a while back where you were forced to give Google permission to scan through all of your Google drive files and emails if you wanted to keep using it.
>>110236957>company forcing you to take product, proves that product isn't a fad
>>110237734>They did exactly that with Gemini a while back where you were forced to give Google permission to scan through all of your Google drive files and emails if you wanted to keep using it.fake newshttps://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/artificial-intelligence/gemini-ai-caught-scanning-google-drive-hosted-pdf-files-without-permission-user-complains-feature-cant-be-disabled"User alleges Gemini AI scanning Google Drive hosted PDF files without explicit permission — Google says otherwise"
>>110237734This might be good, shake some of the schools up and make them invest in their own infrastructure instead of being dependent on untrustworthy megacompanies.
>>110237816Ummm.... https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2026/04/introducing-workspace-intelligence-with-admin-controls.html#:~:text=Workspace%20Intelligence%20is%20ON%20by%20default>>110237828The state gives them the bare minimum to run functionally, if not less. Google especially putting a gun to their heads and forcing them to have the AI shit turned on or their students (and eventually them) don't get to use the service to its fullest.
>>110237734What is stopping a student visiting google website and clicking on the AI tab?
tf is google?Tht sm nw ai????
>>110237925School it Edmonds have the option to disable any and all AI features from the Google workspace accounts. Presumably they can selectively disable the features (administration and teachers can have it but not the students because "hurr sure brainrot" or "Rules for thee, but not for me"). A Google employee all but confirmed that Google either will or already is disabling Google search for student accounts (possibly extending to ALL workspace accounts) unless AI features are re-enabled . They're basically saying ahead of time "You WILL have the AI and you WILL LIKE IT" and telling school administrators responsible for banning AI use to get bent. This is especially bad if your school forces the students to use Chromebooks because those things are usually locked down to hell and back. They're likely forced to only use Google search or anything within the Google workspace feature set.
>>110236957antitrust split up now
>>110237957>launch browser>private mode>go to google.com>click on AI tabOr do they not have web browsers on school computers (or their personal laptops) anymore?
>>110237734>Google Workspace>My mom works at a highschool and ALL of their shit is saved on Google drive. This is why businesses should think twice before putting all their eggs into a third-party private corporation's cloud basket. There are more free and open alternatives to Google Workspace that school districts can self-host in their own infrastructure that can stay under their control instead of Google's.This situation sounds like a good reason for schools to transition to those free and open alternatives and liberate their data. Perhaps this extortion attempt will put a sour taste in their mouths and cause them to reconsider who they trust with their data.
>>110238197Nigger did you miss the part where I said the Chromebooks are locked down? The Google workspace accounts are required for both the students and teachers to get anything done because at some point many schools decided that everything needs to be done online and on the cloud>>110238226See >>110237920
>>110236957>AI is so great we have to force it on kids, so they'll grow up retarded and addicted>or else shareholders will loose valuegrim
>>110238226>>110238318Even from what I remember in school, Google would be a fucking upgrade to the Novell shitfest that still had to be installed on every PC
