so should I just drop out of computer science or what>AI takes over software >AI takes over academiawhat's the point? Better just go become a welder
>>110238071yes
Im also debating whether im gonna double down and do a master in cs or switch entirely. not sure what i'd switch to though. mechatronics looks fun
>>110238071It's ogre in terms of humans writing code. It's not in terms of to make the retarded ai do things correctly you're going to have to learn a lot anyways
>>110238071It depends on your goals in life. There's a lot of retards on both sides of the AI argument. Future fetishists that think computers will achieve sentience and bring about a hyper reality, and luddite trannies who refuse to use AI in any capacity and think its a fad. None of that matters. The level of AI we have now is already putting a lot of people out of work. Regardless of if the technology improves exponentially to the moon or linearly to a plateau, it's already here and its already good enough to replace your average pajeet or junior dev. That's not to say actual programmers are dying out. Using your knowledge to catch the AI on bullshit and direct it better is currently invaluable. The projects that no-coders one-shot-vibe-code aren't anywhere close to the realm an an experienced dev can make using AI to its fullest. The junior devs are currently suffering because CS courses at college have always been niggerlicous and work was the only real way to build the true knowledge and experience needed for this.CS degrees are just going to go the way of mathematics. They'll always be useful in an abstract sense that eventually translates into something real. To make money with the degree, you'll have to apply it in an indirect way. The fundamental ability to study a problem and truly reason it out is the only real skill in life that matters, and no degree is going to teach you it. There will always be room for ultra autists to further the field, but the nigger tier code monkeys aren't needed in the same volume anymore and the market is already adjusting for this.tl;dr If you're in it for money and stability yes, switch majors. CS was always a shit major anyway. If you're just enthusiastic/autistic about the field or you're planning on pursuing to the level of a PhD, then no stick with it. You'll at least learn how to prompt better.
Welding honestly doesn't even sound that bad. You're probably in the US, I wouldn't pay that much money for a CS degree at this point.
>>110238071by the time you learn a trade robotics will replace you
>>110241093doesn't matter how enthusiastic you are about cs if there are 0 job openings to make use of your knowledge
>>110238071Take it from someone in the biz. Software development these days is the same as it was before: your job is to deliver working software. The problem is the job has changed entirely because the costs of the components have changed entirely. It used to be a software engineer spent most of their time coding. Because that's basically a solved problem now, and executives demand much higher output due to the increased productivity unlocked by AI, the job has now turned into basically being a product manager/project manager/business analyst. The job is now to do anything but software development. That means uncovering business problems that can be solved using a software solution, writing technical requirements for the solution, writing documentation, and being responsible for it actually working in the end (quality assurance). Basically, if you were a software engineer before, now you're just a fucking nigger. A fucking faggot, a woman, an office cuck. No better than an accountant or someone working in the marketing department of a company that sells printer ink.
>>110238071Yes, vibeGODS won
>>110238071Even without AI, majority work in CS is just webslop you will be stitching up jabbashit frameworks which anybody sentient hates, unless you are a specialised person who is gonna work on performance critical system software, CS isn't worth it, over time you will barely gain any knowledge or skill.
IPO now
>>110241093It literally wont matter is the best coder is still a human, machines will for sure be better then the vast majority, and if the vast majority uses them, they wont ever become humans capable of doing something above that level ever again. Since barrier of entry lowered, the job will go away from the talanted nerd, to the chads and stacies, like literally every other good job out there. So if you want to be a programmer, dont learn coding, looksmax.
>>110238071>stay in CS>become AI scholar (AI is a topic in CS)>apply to technocracy for dictator position>10000k in debt startinggg ez
>>110241441kek
>>110238071Yeah. Switch to something more useful like english or art history.
Just dropout and make Tik Tok meme videos and work at Starbucks.
