I’m vibecoding a file-backup program in PyQt5. I’m not even sure if there’s already an app that does this.It organizes your files visually in a graph, lets you combine archives, and gives you full control over which files go into which archive before exporting.ChatGPT Free is pretty good for this, but it can be so dumb sometimes. What better models are people using for coding?

>>110253416I used qwen 3.8 to code a firefox extension.
>>110253416I haven't used the free version of chat-gpt in a while, I got a free month of plus and the difference was night and dayFree is kinda crappy with how small the context window is, not to mention getting cucked by limits I do not miss having to try to remind it about shit I said 4 or 5 messages ago
>>110253416>>110253431I roll my own although I am kind of a retard when it comes to bash so I have been meaning to rewrite it in python to make the include and exclude path handling less fragile
>>110253416How about you ask the AI to tell you the current options? Then you vibecode whatever features you are missing on either the project you choose or create a new one with such features and optimizations. You are doing it wrong from the very beginning.
>>110253416>tech illiterate normgroids reinventing the wheel with a chatbotyou disgust me. you make my skin crawl
>>110254085Rsync is all fun but until you do shit with hard links you'll run out of space + remote backups are pretty annoying considering you wanna encrypt them
>>110254219the backup drive is encrypted so there is thatI dont see how you will run out of space since deleted/modified files get put in separate directories and you can clean those out when they get a few months or years old and you decide you dont need those anymore
>>110254258>the backup driveI meant putting them into some remote storage, if you just keep stuff at home that's not a problem >deleted/modified files get put in separate directories and you can clean those out when they get a few months or years old and you decide you dont need those anymoreI'd be too lazy for that tbdesu
>>110254280can luks do decryption of remote drives locally?like fetch the raw blocks decrypt them locally make changes push them back?
>>110254288Renting out a vps is too expensive for just storage so i use some s3 storage instead, for the luks part you could but you probably don't want to as you'd need something like EBS or whatever else the big cloud providers offer
