What's so bad about Windows Me again? It works for me
Almost no software made in the last 5-10 years works with it.
>>110254134No software made in the last 5-10 years is worth it.
get sparky4 on the phone!!!! >____<
>>110254151That's a fox and grapes fable.
98SE is more robust, has an actual DOS mode and does practically everything you need a Win9x operating system to do. Me is a gay fragile snowflake that actively tries to make its DOS mode inaccessible and brings nothing of real value to the table. It's just not a good choice unless you specifically want the questionable "bragging rights" of getting Me to work reliably.
>>110254127Millennial canon, about games, tech, whatever is all wrong. If you actually use windows ME it's perfectly fine, but they yapped about it being dogshit for so long that it just became the accepted narrative.
>>110254134That's not true, I am using the latest build of roytam1's New Moon browser from just a few weeks ago
>>110254247based
>>110254247>based on a version of Pale Moon from 2016Yeah, that's pretty grim to be honest. Do they at least promise to backport security patches from later versions?
>>110254134>>110254247Additionally, while none of these were made specifically for Windows Me, all of them work on Windows Me:https://github.com/DiscordMessenger/dmhttps://www.dialup.net/wingpt/https://www.dialup.net/windle/
>>110254297scared?
>>110254297pretty much all web compatibility and security commits from modern UXP have been backported, it is still on version number 28 because in order to support Windows XP it needs to keep a lot of code from that version that was removed or changed from later versions, breaking compatibility with XP. In terms of web compatibility I haven't noticed much difference between New Moon 28 and the current version of Pale Moon
>>110254355what specs does your ME PC have anon?
>>110254127The way I remember it, it was much more stable than Win98 actually. Win98 crashed more often and for no obvious reason, while WinMe crashed because bad gpu drivers made it crash. I used a computer mostly for music back then and it was good, better performances than Win98 and less crashes. For video games however it was bad, I remember all gamers stayed with Win98 saying that whatever game crashed on WinMe.Didn't something obscure happen with RAM at same time? I seem to remember that faulty RAM sticks were being sold as noname cheap ram sticks, people were buying these and blamed Windows for the bsods. Many Win98 computers had older ram sticks from before that fuckery, and later XP would not even boot with these faulty sticks, so WinMe was the one mostly blamed because of these faulty sticks.
>>110254127That's not Windows.
>>110254406The ram issue would make sense, your post is the first I'm hearing of this though.
>>110254247WinMe + a fork of Palemoon? That's a freaking miracle that cloudfart lets you post here, they often block me with Palemoon on Win7...
>>110254422bwo....
>>110254411Yes it is, Windows Me + Revolutions Pack which gives it the Windows XP Beta-like theme
>>110254127It has like backup option but everything else is a downgrade. You lose DOS real mode for nothing. Also worse performance in gaming. Compared to 98SE.
>>110254127i used me as a kid. i remember that tutorial thing they had with the text to speech narrators

>>110256518you don't understandIRC is right there! they want to use old software but they don't want to actually USE old software
WinME can’t play Red Alert 2 for whatever fucking reason. Other than that, it’s pretty good.
>>110254127You're an indian making shitty engagement posts to train his bing bong ding dong AI chatbot and you never used Windows Me in your life. When Windows ME was actually relevant, your dad was still crawling through the rivers of shit flowing through streets of your Brownoid country. But theoretically lets assume that you're trying to have a genuine discussion - try to install both 16- and 32bit drivers, a commonly done thing during late 90s and early 2000s.
