>>
> The environment has gone from bad to worse for companies intimately tied to AI infrastructure, as the combination of rising interest rates, ballooning capital needs and the Democratic sweep in Congress has led to increased fears that wide swaths of the market are going to be weighed down by too much debt and too little revenue.

This is anti-luddite, it just guaranteed a win for Local AI.
Get ready for a mass dumpening of AI datacenter chips that have no datacenter to go into.
>>
>>110254609
Based democrats, finally AI can be banned for the plebs and the corporate state can have a monopoly on it, based based based

Interesting midterms...U.S.

I don't care about left or right here in the U.S., as it's mostly picking your jew aligned pedophile (redundant, I know). More importantly, I'm concerned about some of the talk from the Dems regarding Data centers. Some copy pasta for ya.
>Federal regulation: Several incoming Democratic lawmakers favor stronger federal oversight, independent safety reviews, and, in some cases, pauses on frontier AI development.
>Data center moratoriums: Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez have already introduced legislation seeking to pause new data center construction until safeguards are established.
>State and local restrictions: The November elections also produced substantial victories for measures restricting data center construction, financing, or zoning.

I totally understand the safety rails they (democrats) want to introduce. I don't think people should be drinking polluted water, enduring noise pollution, increased electricity bills, and so on because some BigTech faggot like Sam Altman wants to clear several acres for his new massive money sink.

What I'm afraid of is that this will allow luddites and various people who (for lack of a better phrase) don't have a fucking clue about AI tech or what it can do to make policy. This ends up stifling progress across the board and making things more expensive for everyone rather than less, with excessive regulations.
>>
>>110254827
It doesn't work that way, when a government starts to regulate something, the regulation always infinitely expands which will inevitably mean local AI's get regulation hell while big corps do regulatory capture.

China knows this which is why they are madmax with regulations. Their only regulation is that the politicians should benefit from it, which is more honest and simple than "its for da democracies!" or whatever horseshit authoritarian 'democracies' make up.
>>
>>110254835
Government regulations always end up with the government and it's cronies doing whatever they want (military base pollution) while the plebs are banned from everything.

Snailcats are imbeciles.

I have no idea why MIGA decided that AI is right-wing, besides the fact that miggers can't make anything so they need to rely on the infinite slop machine.
>>
>>110254827
You can't put data center hardware in your gaming pc, retard. And China will scoop it all up anyway.
>>
>>110255330
But this happened because the right is anti AI as well. Half of the reason for their protest vote is because they fell for the Chinese anti AI propaganda as well.

oh, because theyre gonna be on site and keep rebuilding the same datacenter for the rest of their careers?
>>
>>110257603
Big projects usually involve hiring people to do work beyond what a company would usually be doing.
When you get an order for 50 data centers, that's going to lead to hiring, and they want those people hired to be residents of Texas, not some other state.
>>
>>110254609
I voted for this :)
>>
>>110257631
yeah, for two months total, each?
if theyre not just gonna hire ocntractors, smes
1-2 men operations for electricity, plumbing
larger companies for the the structure proper, hvac
probably specialized, out of state companies to install cooling systems, and to install the racks proper

its temporary boons for a long term drain on water, electricity prices, and annoyance bc these cheap fucks dont want to throw in a couple millies extra on a 50 B enterprise to build the datacenters away from residential areas to solve noise pollution

its a fuck in the ass. with a momentary reacharound, but its still a continual assrape before, and afterwards
>>
>>110257723
>yeah, for two months total, each?

>>
>>110257735
these datacenters are supposed to get build during the next couple of years, max
you wont be building datacenters for then ext 10 years.
but you will have to pay the higher bills, have the noise pollution, have your real estate driven into the ground bc nobody wants to live next to one etc

the muh jerbs argument is horseshit
>>
>>110257762
>you wont be building datacenters for then ext 10 years.
No, they were planning to order more data centers next year, and the year after.
There was no end point in sight for the data center buildout. No one was going "ok, we just need 500 more data centers and that's it".

>the muh jerbs argument is horseshit
The argument is that if you're building them in Texas, you gotta hire Texans or fuck off.
>>
>>110257603
Its absolutely amazing how you actually fucking believe this shit. Do you understand how anything being built works? Do you know how anything functions at all? Kill yourself.

>>
>>110257779
>No, they were planning to order more data centers next year, and the year after.
not gonna happen. for a couple reasons

mostly because the management is a whole fuckup
im not against datacenters, but theyre being deployed in the most retarded way possible

but also the aibros are retarded
even their own researchers say theres a wall
like picrel; openais own researcher.

notice the axes are on log scale. that means each unit is x10
and so the diff bw the rightmost and second-rightmost dots is something like x100 in compute for something like x3 in improvement
and its case since the beginning

a situation where increase in compute = increase in precision the dots would form a 45° angle. thers not one point on the graph where this is the case

and even that is in generating text.
but not all thoughts can be put into words
>>
Phew, it really seemed like white people were going to win the AI race there for a second. Now the Chinese century can proceed as planned.
>>
>>110254609
Every state/municipality that enacts anti-datacenter laws will get exactly what they're asking for -- businesses with enough money to build, stock and operate the fucking things taking their ball and going elsewhere with their money). They'll pull an AOC (like when she helped torpedo the Amazon NYC office complex deal) and brag that losing the local economy billions in revenue each year is a "victory." Remind me again how things are going (rent, groceries, gas prices, etc.) in NYC lately under the muzzie mayor and communist/socialist control -- I love a good laugh.
This isn't actually a dems vs. reps thing either; there's FUD from both sides of the aisle on this and they're all idiots. Altman's business model is trash and that company's going under no matter what's coming or whoever's in office, while the tech industry itself has collectively given zero fucks about the government's opinion on things for the past thirty years, no matter who's in office, and will continue to do as it pleases no matter who's sworn in this January and no matter what they say.
I do look forward to watching dems go try to strongarm "big tech" now that they've actively participated for 20+ years fully handing over the keys to their electronic kingdoms to those very same companies.
'member how well that Twitter/X boycott worked after Musk bought it? Oh right, everybody still uses it and knows Bluesky is for extremists and journoscum (who also still use Twitter/X).
>>
>>110257842
>not gonna happen. for a couple reasons
Look, I knew it was unsustainable, but it wasn't being presented like that.
>>
>it's an Americans for no discernible reason at all cede control of critical technology to the Chinese episode
>>
>>110257853
>bilions of revenue.
>from taxes
you have no sense of reality
>>
>>110257821
huh?
>>
>>110257860
>for no discernible reason
What about the rising costs for electricity and electronics
>>
>>110257859
biggest bottleneck that aint gonna magically disappear- the grid.
and this boils down to management

instead of telling the hyperscalers to do wtfever they please but do it in the middle of nowhere
they block them with lagging energy grid
and shove them near residential areas

the is mental fucking handicap

just tell em to fuck off somewhere empty
let them bulid their own infra which they have been fukken asking for since indibeninging
and the plebs dont wont mind
and the techbrow will have their numbercrunchers
and youll get your taxes

but nooo
fucking boomer fuckign retards struck again
and techbros are at a loss, gpus sitting in warehouses
the plebs are up in arms bc their bills are up and the DCs are shitting up the place
and the fucking dems won everywhere on a ticket of banning the DCs. of which none are gonna get b& but thats another story

everyone gets fucked. because of boomers
fucking give em the pillow already
theyre completely fucking dysfuncitional
>>
>>110257860
Been the case since Nixon
>>
>>110257874
Yeah, it's just like when you moved all of you manufacturing to China for slightly cheaper consumer goods.
>>
>>110257860
>for no discernible reason
how about
>decreased quality of life through subsidies
>increased electricity and water bills
>getting priced out of consumer hardware forever
and most importantly
>they are building these things to replace your job
>>
>>110257904
You're still going to lose your job but the money generated by your LLM replacement will be going to China instead.
>>
>>110257909
This is a false dichotomy but even supposing it's true open weight models means owning things. Regardless, I'd rather just not match into a future at full speed where no one has jobs. The future isn't set in stone that way.
>>
>>110257909
I'm an electrician though, I'll get work either ways
>>
>>110257916
You won't be marching into the future at all. China will continue their AI development at full speed and your country will be left behind.
>>
>>110257920
I don't care. I get virtually nothing out of the futures you are espousing.
>>
>>110254609
Retard-take, ML mania has been killing itself. The bag holders are just waiting for a convenient exit to offload their extremely toxic fiscal waste.
There will no bailouts as the US is already teetering on insolvency and nobody is willing to buy bonds that fuel the long-term IOUs.
>>
>>110257930
Yeah, it's probably just a coincidence that the crash happened the day after the people who want to ban data centers got voted in to power.
>>
>>110257860
A prime example of the cancer that is "American Exceptionalism". China is playing the USA's playbook in 1980s against the USSR. China is counting on US to bankrupt itself on boondoggles so its hegemony finally dissolves.
>>
>>110257909
>if you don't let sam altman make all the datacenters at your expense and roll over and give up your job and lower your standards of living right now then the wrong billionaires will own everything!
oh no ...anyway
>>
The Jews were right about the goyim. They're no different than the Native American selling all of their land for beads. They're not fit to rule themselves and need the guidance of people who can think in terms of decades and centuries instead of weeks and months.
