What if I just don't want to make 500 different accounts for 500 different websites? what if I just simply want to read a text, without creating an account?

Then I'm not using that dogshit site/app/whatever the fuck, simple as. I've already stopped using plebbit because I can't use old reddit without a fucking account.

Then you're fucked. Much like you're fucked if you truly lock down your browser against tracking. If that's done correctly, most modern websites just break down and refuse to run because your data can't be siphoned anymore. We live in dystopian times and either you care and do something against it, or you want to continue consoooming like a good goy.

I think the best thing to do about this problem is to educate your normie friends. Websites only get away with this shit because 99% of people are either too apathetic or too technologically uneducated to understand how much easier it is to track someone both online and offline when every website forces them to have a user account.

I became good friends with a co-worker earlier this year and we started hanging out together. I showed him how to use Librewolf and how to use uBlock Origin in advanced mode. It only took about 10 minutes to show him how to use advanced mode and now he blocks third-party javascripts on every website he goes to. He was very shocked by how much bloat and spyware is hidden in the background of websites, and now he's even considering installing Linux on his PC, to eschew microslop spyware.

>tl;dr if you want things to change, you have to educate people.
Show your normie friends and family the amount of bloat and spyware that "modern" websites have running in the background. They almost always get shocked and start taking your "silly privacy nonsense" a lot more seriously when you show them something tangible, such as a bunch of third-party javascripts running in the background of their favourite websites.

I've installed Brave on my parents' phones and they revert to using vanilla chrome

Not on my end.
Say, even perfectly capable AI is accessible without login. Be it local or non-local.
Only normal people succumb to the login-wall. Don't be normal.
That said, there are way too many normal people on the web these days.

this for me too

Use a masked mail address? Decent mail providers offer those these days for there is a dire need of them.

I don't want to.
>>
>>110272674
You have to really, truly **show** them how malicious and invasive big tech spyware is. Try installing uBlock Origin or Noscript on their phone and show them all the intrusive shit that runs in the background on every single website (note that neither uBlock nor Noscript can even run in vanilla Chrome anymore. I guess Google would prefer that people get malware from ads than be able to watch a few Youtube videos without ads. That might cost Google 1/1000th of a cent, so they can't allow that).
>>
>>110272722
You don't get it, boomers grew up thinking adverts are cool and cultural, they meet other boomers and talk about adverts, that's their monoculture. Blocking ads for them is like cutting off a limb.
>>
>>110272487
between this and AI, I just uninstalled Linux (openSUSE) and installed Windows 11. Computers are dead for me and I'm no longer going to spend time on them, find something else to do. It didn't take too long to die.
>>
>>110272674
>>110272722
You don't understand. Some boomers are okay with ads, they even think it's fair. My mom uses Firefox with ublock, but my dad doesn't ever block ads, it's impossible to convince him otherwise.

Fair point. They grew up watching ads on television. They have shared cultural memories of particularly funny or interesting television ads that they probably feel fond and nostalgic for.

More importantly, anyone that was born before the 1980's grew up back when 100% of media came from centralised sources. It would have been trivial to convince them that ads are good and that you should just be quiet and accept them. Even back then, it was possible to record TV programs on VHS, so that you could play them back later and fast-forward through all the ads. But anyone who did this would probably be told by their peers that they're "stealing" from the network, or some dumb shit like that.

A handful of television networks controlled 100% of the media narrative and dominated societal opinion and discussion until the 2010's, when young millenials (people born circa 1990 and later) began to consoom more of their media from de-centralised sources, via the internet, and less of it from television. This temporarily ended the reign of influence that these centralised sources had over people's lives. Of course, it didn't take them long to adapt, and now, here we are today.

The technology has advanced so rapidly that we now have different generations living and co-existing that each spent their youth getting their media through completely different means. People born before the 1980's lived long enough to see technology that could provide them with all the media they would ever wish to consoom, without ever having to sit through a boring ad; yet they choose not to, because they spent their youth living in a time when the media they consoomed was funded by the same people making those ads.

>tl;dr boomers and gen x'ers will never change their ways. just write them off and try to educate zoomers and gen alpha about big tech spyware instead.
