Depends on what you consider cool shit. If you're getting the 5090 mainly for generating AI videos, I'd be trying to do some basic video generation on your current PC, if possible, to get a feeling for where the limits currently are.

I bought a 5090 for local AI stuff, and I don't regret it one bit, but I also did some with my prior PC and knew that it wouldn't give me some kind of holodeck, that could just show me anything I wanted, if I just prompted for it.

Depends on complexity of action, resolution, length and what AI model you use. 5090 can spit out 20second sex vids from image to video at 480×720 in about 1-2 min with LTX. WAN same resolution takes about 3-4 min for a 5 second video. Do some research on reddit/youtube to get an idea if you only know the vague concept of AI generation

Man, LTX is terrible at fine details. Anything with a wide enough focus to get a full body in frame requires a much higher resolution to keep the face in shape than I'm prepared to make a habit of. This took me almost 30 minutes.

Yep, your obversation is correct. Was the same with WAN. The diffusion would have to do way greater shifts in a larger latent space to achieve more movement and that's something it usually avoids to retain temporal coherence (I think).

I usually gen at 1024x1536 with LTX, meaning 512x768 on the first stage. That usually nets me enough movement. Some people use a three stage LTX workflow for that exact reason, as that can give you way faster and more sweeping movement at a great cost of quality. WAN2.2 gens at 1024x1536 were extremely crisp with only very slow movement.
