Ideally, those would be swapped out for cages. The effective footprint is nearly the same and cages are multi-purpose.

Benchpress setups typically don't have safeties because it saves money for the gym owners and they're not liable for injuries so they don't have to care, its just that simple.

Just fyi for anybody that exercises or is thinking about exercising and doesn't wanna die like a fucking retard here are a few simple rules that'll save you from having an absolutely embarassing injury/death:
(1) Always have a fucking spotter. If you don't have a spotter then don't use free weights. Stick to resistance training and focus on reps.
(2) When you bench press or squat, set the safety bars. They are there for a reason.
(3) When you do bench press you should be laying far enough up that the bar resting on the rack is level with your neck so if the bar falls and rolls toward your neck the rack will stop it from choking you to death.
(4) When you do bench press you pull the bar down to your nipples and armpits. When you push it up it should be straight up and continue to be parallel with your nipples and armpits. If you're pushing the bar up around your face and neck you're a fucking retard and you're doing it wrong.
(5) There is literally no reason at all to arch your back while you do bench presses. It offers no benefit whatsoever and creates a decline toward your throat for the bar to roll down to. Just lay flat on the fucking bench.
(6) DON'T EVER LOCK YOUR KNEES OR ELBOWS! JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!
(7) Jump rope, wall sits, and air squats are every bit as effective as doing weighted squats with the added benefit of not destroying your spine and knees.

Hopefully this helps some you to not die like an asshole.

I'd really only use a spotter for conservative estimate near my lift limit. Also, that bench press mechanic suggestion is fine if you never intend to maximize your bench; powerlifters will not follow that advice.
A simplified version is to be conservative with weight and focus on form. You can pretty much skip maxing out for a long time while still maintaining or making gains, but if you do go near your max, get a spotter at least for bench.
I've never needed a spotter for Squat, but I've only ever squatted 2.5x my weight very comfortably, anything beyond that might require a spot if you don't know how to safely dump the weight without panic.

If you focus on lifting appropriate volume instead of piling on and arching your back like a cat for an increasingly shitty 1rm, you will likely never even need a spotter. You will be in control of the weight and know with confidence that the next rep is not happening. Squeezing out that last shitty desperate rep while doing a higher risk lift like bench press isn't even worth it anyway, but even then if you are lifting an appropriate amount of weight you should be able to roll it down your body towards your thighs, slide plates off or squirm your way out using the safeties. Spotters just create bad habits unless you are literally trying to break records.

Obviously massive injuries are a minority, but what about minor but permanent injuries? I think of my close friend who, under the tutelage of an acquaintance, was pushing himself really hard while doing squats and deadlifts. He ended up herniating a disc, and it put him out of strength training for over 2 years. He got depressed and fat, and it's only within the last couple of years he's gotten back into fitness but he has to work around his pain. How many dudes have fucked up their spine or joints permanently compared to the amount of dudes who have made lasting strength and health gains?
