This board needs YOUHelp anons out with how to make stuff to post here, share what you madeFight the low-effort posting, crop your shit, don't just upload watermarked .mp4 teases you saved from twitter I'll post some very basic tutorials for Shotcut (free, all platforms) showing export settings and using context menus rather than keyboard shortcuts for transparency
Here's the slow version for settings, importing, and cutting
Here is exporting and estimating bitrate. This may all seem self-explanatory but these were made based on questions fro previous threads
The export settings will apply to any editing software. Webm VP9 and Opus audioHere is how to apply a reframe filter to remove black bars (please remove black bars)
or just use>https://github.com/dfaker/WebmGeneratorits piss easy
>>30963370dfakers webm generator tutorialgood for bulk conversion of files over the filesize limit
all edits i make using a script that i originally wrote to edit cooking into the middle of porn videosit uses moviepy and pulls from a library of saved clips, indexed by their "best" moment as a timestamp, and if they should be in the centre or on the side (based on my personal pref, and not all clips have a "best" part)it then joins the clips based on their orientation, and aligns the playback time so all clips hit their best part at the same time.it then adjusts each clips size down to the lowest of the 3, then scales the bitrate based on the total space left in the filesize max. then it exports usingcodec="libvpx"audio_codec="libvorbis"as i dont know any better
>>30963370if you edit using dfakers i've found no way to reliably check whether you've cut around keyframes correctly. they are marked, but if you jump to them and cut on, behind, or ahead i've still encountered frozen frames. both shotcut and dfakers are drag and drop, choose correct output, and hit export. once you can estimate bitrate yourself you can get closer to the filesize limit using shotcut
example of frozen frames from incorrect cutting around keyframes
fix
>>30963382nice onehere's a tutorial for how to do this manually to avoid black bars
what about linux tutorial?
>>30963411>Shotcut (free, all platforms)am using as an appimage currently but it's available as flatpak, snap, and tareven if you didn't read you could have searched "shotcut linux"try using ffmpeg via terminal emulator, you'll learn a lot in the process
>>30963411tutorial:>sudo apt install ffmpeg / sudo dnf install fmpeg / sudo pacman -Syu ffmpeg>man ffmpeg
using search engine tutorial only being this harsh because linux user

>>30963356you deserve a medal for this op
>>30963384>>30963400I've used dfaker hundreds of times and never encountered frozen frames. Are you editing the videos with something else in your whole process?
>>30964073no, i started with dfakers and was forced to use losslesscut to edit after everything i trimmed in dfakers froze. not on windows now and no interest in bulk stuff any more. takes 30 seconds in shotcut anyway and there's a post timer i gotta wait for
>>30964062no worries. people keep saying that and i don't get it. lemme know if i've skipped over anything

you can fill the board with ylyl. its allowed, you can post what you want. and you still choose textposting on the imageboard
>>30963356based>>30964133its easier in shotcut and better i promise you

>>30963356Thanks anon, I always share your tutorial clips when people don't know how to clip.Though I don't know whether ot thank you or to hate you because now I spend so much time and drive space saving and cutting porn.It has made me start hoarding, which I guess it's a good thing.
>>30964852
>>30964852no worrieseverything in moderation. i'll only spend an hour or so at a time and then one day every few weeks. the hoarding i've been doing too long but i tell myself its scratching an itch that stops physical hoarding
>>30965421True. Anyways, last new one.
lol>>30965421>i'll only spend an hour or so at a time and then one day every few weeksthat's the strat big stockpiling

https://argorar.github.io/WebMConverter/windows tool to make decent webms with a specific size limit if you set the mode in the encoding tab to constant. make sure to enable high quality mode since it works better to keep files under 4mb.https://www.shutterencoder.com/linux tool for making webms that's a bit different to work with, but it also works quite well and also has a file size limiter. just make sure to enable 2 pass and keep max file quality off since it takes too much time. also you might have to set it to 0.2mb under the preferred file size since it sometimes goes over.

just to clarify for a few anons, when i say fight low effort posting i mean exactly that - nothing to do with the subject materialthis place is amazing because anyone can post anything barring csam and people with lawyers. you can singlehandedly fill the board with whatever content you want. this thread is for making sure that content is cropped and compressed properly
and more importantly for this board that the content is predominantly animated imagesthere are 74 other boards that aren't about gifs, go there
anyways, posting fluffy clothing
maybe it's an issue of a lack of imagination/passion>like something>make stuff about itmost anons seem to just consume and criticise, lazy and sad
I've noticed an uptick in positive anons, very nice to see
anyways go create (probably healthier if you get off this site in the process)it's good for you and for the world. nothing happens without someone doing it
>>30966863>>30966564>>30966855i think the quality went downhill once they allowed .mp4there's nothing inherently wrong with the container, I just think the extra step of having to convert helps because you think >"might as well trim">"might as well crop and reframe">"while i'm here i'll tidy up the audio"and the same applies for the "easy" programs. you end up with anons churning out a thread with an script that treats vertical and horizontal resolutions the same and giving silent videos empty audio tracks
forgot i made this one
oh and well done every anon, now have 15 threads open including this one. probably best state of the board in months

its all race, ai, and penisesthis can't be proportional. i think they're just more motivated than us
imagine putting all this effort for this board. top kek. i wish the ip counter was still here.
>>30968280>use website to look at images>"imagine posting images, cringe"if 4 people stopped doing this there would be no female content on here
this is what i've been fucking saying for the past yearif everyone just chucked a few webms in a thread perhaps along with their sauce request then (according to board traffic stats) it wouldn't be so shit. little effort for many, lots of effort for few
>>30968280so you could get depressed that the board is dying because seemingly 4 straight anons understand cause and effect and the rest think babies are delivered by stork?
Good job posting tutorials OP, but where to find the source vids? I did my encodes years ago but mainly from studios scenes: some good moments but it was still commercial stuff...
>>30963356Great thread, OP. I also would like to see more people creating OC instead of just complaining and consuming. A little goes a long way.I mainly use ffmpeg to clip videos and re-encode them if needed. If anyone is interested, I usally run the following command:ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -ss HH:MM:SS -to HH:MM:SS -vf scale=WIDTH:HEIGHT -c:v libvpx-vp9 -c:a libvorbis output.webm-i input.mp4 is the option to input the video. Self explanatory. It can be a mp4, webm, or whatever else as we'll be converting to a webm afterwards anyway. Though you can do -c:a copy instead of -c:a libvorbis later in the commmand to avoid re-encoding the audio if it is already a webm.To explain what each option does:-ss and -to set the initial and final times of the section of the video you'd like to clip. For example, if you have a 10 minute video, and you'd like to clip a section of it that starts at 2:30 and goes to 3:00, you'd do:-ss 00:02:30 -to 00:03:00Do keep in mind this isn't fully accurate. If you'd like a more frame-perfect clip, I'd recommend shotcut or kdenlive. It's what I usually use.-vf scale=WIDTH:HEIGHT is telling ffmpeg to use the (v)ideo (f)ilter of scale to reize the input. I prefer resizing a video in order to reduce it's filesize, as doing so will have less of a quality impact on it. A cool thing you can do is specifying -1 on the height field to have it automatically keep the aspect ratio. So if you do -vf scale=1280:-1, it will automatically convert the video to 1280x720.-c:v libvpx-vp9 -c:a libvorbis output.webm this selects the (c)odec for the (v)ideo, in this capse VP9, and the (c)odec for the (a)udio, which is vorbis. Those are some of the most commonly used codecs on 4chan. output.webm is just the name of the resulting file. Here's a clip I made of Demi-chan wa Kataritai, although it is using VP8 instead of VP9. I tried to be as concise as possible with my explanation, but do tell me if something was confusing or not properly explained.
>>30968428This video could've had a better quality if I had simply reduced the resolution, but oh well. There are also other cool things you can do with ffmpeg, like removing audio if it is unecessary with -an. This also helps reduce filesize. Or writing a title metadata with -metadata title="my title". This is especially useful to embed the sauce of some video or music in the file itself. You can also do hardsubs, extracting subs from existing files and setting a specific sub as default. But that's more complex and a bit out of scope here, I think.Do check out ffmpeg's official documentation for certain option, as well as this page:https://web.archive.org/web/20260221054915/https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/WebMhttps://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Scaling (ffmpeg's docs on scaling)Both are very good resources to learn this program.
