That info was from like a year ago when AI was new, there are all sorts of methods now (WanGP, ComfyUI, etc). I installed ComfyUI Portable for my setup. After that you will need to download models and loras if needed. Most of that can be found either through the manager "template" page on ComfyUI or CivitaiRed.

Be advised do not leave your system online, comfy updates pretty regularly and can/will push updates that will break your Comfy and require you to reinstall. I would recommend just going online every couple months to do an update. Would also recommend doing some research on reddit/youtube/huggingface for specific questions and how-to's

Think both Minimax and LTX will run on little as 6gb vram but your resolution and vid length may be limited.

The make GGUF's (smaller model sizes) for the VRAM-starved machines. LTX and Wan has them, not sure on Minimax but its only been out a month or so. Be advised the quality may be less with GGUF's but gen time should speed up and will reduce OOM errors.

You will have to dig around for the GGUF models, some are on Civitai, some on Huggingface.

The bottom line is you have to generally do a lot of testing and tweaking with regards to prompts and loras(if needed) as well as the strengths for those loras. Sometimes, you may need to use multiple loras and some don't work well together. It's a lot of trial and error if you wanna get exactly what you want. You could try finding a post on Civitai red of what you're trying to accomplish and just copying their prompt and settings if they have them available and then tweaking it slightly for your needs, but honestly a lot of times they have missing or incomplete info, either for their prompt or what strengths they use. Also, keep in mind some loras need a trigger word in the prompt for them to properly activate, which should be listed on the page you downloaded it from.

With Wan, yah for most specific actions. If you are doing solo stuff you can get away with a lot but the loras tell 2 different characters how to interact with each other properly. Grab a NSFW lora and a general sex lora and you can get away with 99% of the stuff probably.

The latter, REF2v accepts (i think up to 9?) images from any given source, the memory load is negligible per-image using references when you set the resolution limit to match the mp target of your output, but it does get very heavy if you use a video, so keep them short and low-res.
personally, I used IMG2vid with wan a lot, naturally i tried it on minimax and was pretty impressed- but once I got to understand the potential and flexibility of ref2vid, I don't think I'd ever use img2vid again. if you absolutely positively have to have the starting frame pixel-for-pixel perfect, by all means work with img2vid, you can sometimes convince ref2vid to use a reference as a starting frame, but it's not 100% although very very close. I feel the amount of control you obtain is worth it. pic unrelated (old wan stuff).

I get a perfect representation. Two front pics, a side pic, a back pic, and a video with as much movement and talking as possible. I'll bypass the back and/or side pic if the girl is only going to face the camera straight on. My references are only 480, and it turns out perfect 99% of the time.

5 seconds has been enough so far and I've made videos with 5 different women so far. A couple for some, dozens for others. It doesn't always work out in the first try. I cut another 5 seconds and try again. I'm no expert, just trial and error, but like I said, my videos are 480p, so shrink yours down if they're high quality. It'll just slow things down.

Yea I tried using a slightly longer vid at about 7 seconds to get the motion for something but the gen ended up freezing. Im on a 3060, so testing is slow and frustrating lol. I guess I should try lowering the resolution, but I wonder how low you can go before the reference becomes useless. Also wonder how much using a video reference adds to the gen time vs using images and loras, if they exist for what you're looking for.

In my experience, genned video length is by far the most significant factor in gen time. 4 seconds is 15 to 30 minutes, 10 seconds is 3 hours or more. That's the max I've been able to get with running out of memory. Pixels are the second biggest factor. I can do 1 or .9 on anything but 10 second videos. Those have to be .8. Picture references seem not to add much processing time. I've never not used a video ever since I first started testing. A good ref vid is the difference between uncanny and perfect from my tests. I'm learning to extend videos now, so instead of a 10 or 15 second video, you can just run back to back 4 seconds videos that reference back to each other. Once I figure it out, I'm making full length movies!

I'm guessing you're not using any turbo lora or speed up optimizations? Those times are pretty rough. But your quality is pretty decent. I usually gen at .5 mp, was never able to do over .8 without the gen failing, but I don't think I tried with shorter gens. I usually do at least 8-12 seconds. This took about 19 mins at .5 mp with a turbo lora comfy kitchen and spectrum. I could get better quality without em but I lack the patience. Maybe if I get a gen I really liked, I'll rerun it without all the optimizations.
