still playing with WAN. Its working but even with turbo and lighting its taking 13-15 minutes for 5 seconds. wondering if i should scale down the image and output and then upscale but feel like quality loss on final would suck.

NTA. Those times sound normal for Wan. LTX and Minimax H3 are much faster.

Prototype at low res then run a full chooch once you're happy with your prompt. Feels wasteful but saves some heartache long term.

Look into latent upscaling. If Wan 2.2, you can probably run first pass at lower res then latent upscale before second pass.

Also, if you have a second gpu laying around, see if you can fit it in there with your mobo and psu. Run a second instance of comfy. Even if it's a small card like 8gb, it can be useful.

In the end, there's no replacement fit displacement. A full scale gen will always be better, and upscale never quite does the job.

Pretty much all models downsize the starting image to your gen size under the hood anyway. That size isn't terrible. If you want, look into face detailer workflows. I use one that 2x upscales then tunes up the face - adds an extra step, but I think it's worth it.

The MH3 templates will give you nsfw right out of the box, not a single lora required. You'll want to look at speedups for it. Turbo/Lightning, Spectrum, Sage Attention, and Comfy Kitchen are all worth a google once you get a few decent stock gens under your belt.

Unless you are using an SVI workflow Wan will usually just loop the video for anything over 7 seconds. 5 seconds is what most loras are trained on for Wan so if you want longer stuff use an SVI workflow or save last frame and make a new gen with that and combine the clips... or use LTX or H3

Footjobs do work out of the box with Minimax H3, but they are hard to get right and there's little toe action.

WAN really takes its sweet time on higher res stuff, but Minimax isn't a whole lot quicker in that regard. The quality is on a much higher level, though.

...is me. I gen at a higher resolution and actually downscale a little for sharper detail. Those each took about 30 minutes to cook. Prototypes are super important, you can imagine.

Stable diffusion output for source images is 960x1280 (I think) then 2x and face detail the good ones from that. Run some low res video gen prototypes until I'm happy with a prompt. I often get a few of those ready to go, then set them all off and walk away to do something else.

Good results get posted, bad results go back on the pile for the next big cook.

So just don't stand there watching it gen, and you'll be fine.

I've had a relatively softcore run going for a little while, but I did this last week. Used a riding lora, I think?

My prototype resolution is 288x384. That's low enough to be quick, get those out in about 2.25 minutes, but high enough to not be completely useless. It won't be a 1:1 comparison to a higher res gen, but it'll let you see what the camera does with your cues, if your dialogue fits the runtime, if you've completely screwed something up, etc.

*This is all using 8 step loras and various speedups. Definitely get on those quickly. Run stock a few times then look for the list here >>31121045. Probably some more stuff, too.


(I like 3:4, but you can do whatever you want, I think it's trained on 16:9 but I've never seen a problem. Actually, I should do a 9:16 vs 3:4 comparison just to see if does make a time difference.)

You don't have to worry about the image size that you put in. Make sure the aspect ratio of the input matches that of the output, or it may do weird things. The stock MH3 workflows come with a resolution selector that's based on megapixels. Get rid of that, not all the math on it is correct (3:4 is wrong, for instance). Make sure numbers you use for resolution are divisible by 16 (or 32 maybe? I forget).
